Power to the people. Congratulations to the majority of this thread. We have proved to T-Mobile that we will not simply be walked over.0

So if i take out an Android contract before the 1st of Feb,i should get the 3gig ??
Was in a TM shop today and they didn`t know anything about the 500mb cap ??0 -
It does seem difficult to me to argue that you have the right to cancel without penalty because of detrimental changes which never actually happened. Of course, you're entitled to cancel the contract, but the problem is whether you can do it without paying it off, which requires them to be changing the contract in such a way that negatively affects you. I suspect T-Mobile's response to the cancellation letters will be "Fine, once you pay up", and I wouldn't like to have to argue that you shouldn't have to because of a technicality.
Not saying that I agree with T-Mobile's actions, but it's only a very narrow reading of the regulations which could allow such cancellations in my opinion (but IANAL!).0 -

A direct link to the T-Mobile statement was posted about 2 hours ago (2 or 3 pages back).
Rather than rely on the metro, people cam see the original post http://support.t-mobile.co.uk/help-and-support/index?page=home&cat=DATA_CHANGES
Quoted in full:Changes to Mobile Internet fair use policies
T-Mobile Statement:
“On Monday 10 January 2011 we announced that, in line with the rest of the industry, T-Mobile would be reducing its Fair Use Policy for data usage to 500MB a month for all mobile phone customers. Following a further review of our policy, these changes will now be introduced from 1 February, to new and upgrading customers only - not existing customers.
There will be no change to the data packages for existing customers! for the duration of their contract and we apologise for any confusion caused. The revision to the Fair Use Policy is designed to ensure an improved quality of service for all mobile internet users."
Lysa Hardy, VP, T-Mobile UK
Information on new data policy:
From 1 February 2011 new and upgrading customers will be given a monthly 500MB data allowance. There will be no charge for those customers exceeding that limit, and those who do will still be able to access important services such as email and web browsing, however file downloading and streaming services will be restricted. Customers will then have the option to increase their monthly Fair Use Policy to 1GB a month by purchasing a Mobile Broadband Booster. This will ensure an improved quality of service for all of our mobile internet users.====0 -
Ironic as they tell me to "save it for my home broadband", i'm typing this as I tether my tmobile phone, while watching a youtube video and downloading an mp3 from itunes :money:
Broadband saving per month = £25
FUP well and truly exceeded = 4gb :rotfl:
Thanks for backing down tmobile :T you didn't have a cat in hells chance of going through with it!
Ps.
Get 3G watchdog from the market
and
Speedtest from the market
counts your data from billing date to billing date, and you can see if average speed changes once you exceed FUP.
Also to see previous data from tmobile online login - download bill to CSV file (excell spreadsheet) and sum up the data column0 -
Yay to consumer power :T
You've got to admit it's been a real F-UP by T Mobile0 -
Has anybody got the original press release from tmobile??...:D0
