Hey girls
I found the dress yesterday!! Thing is it is over budgetHave looked online and found 2 on preloved for half the retail price but can't remember what size I was in the shop - anyone know how it relates to normal dress size?
I have also found the dress on another website which is based in China...not sure if I trust it. Has anyone else bought there dress like that? It is about a third of the price but I think they must make knock offs because you can pick different colours which aren't in the normal selection.
Any thoughts would be great
Thanks
I found my dress in a shop and didn't look at the size either... I did however go back a few months later to try it on again to make sure it was "the one" and had a nosey at the size (whilst trying on others.)
With regards to the shop in China, some people have had great experiences with their dresses being perfect whilst others have has dreadful experiences and have ended up having to buy a completely new dress... If you say the dress you've found is over-budget, think how much it would cost if you were to buy a new dress if the one from China wasn't up to scratch?
It's just food for thought... I think there's a few forum threads talking about dresses from China...

Haven't been on here for a while now - was stressing because we couldn't find the right venue, but we've found one we love that ticks all the boxes, so we've got that and the registrar booked now!
Spoonymoose, that's really exciting about your dress. I think I'm going to get booked in to try some on - the mother-in-law to be is a seamstress so she wants to make it and I've got the pattern for one I've fallen in love with but obviously haven't tried it on yet so want to try a few on first. Might even end up buying one in the shop if I like it too much!
I've already made an invite mock up which is on another thread and was designing magnetic save-the-dates earlier (Vistaprint).
Got wedding insurance to sort out tonight and think we'll go with Ecclesiastical.
HTB has Scottish heritage and was born there so he's really wants a Scottish theme with a ceilidh and kilts. I mentioned shortbread biscuits to go in the favour boxes to a friend and since she's Scottish she's offered to make them for us
It's also his birthday soon so I mentioned buying him a ceremonial clan dagger for cutting the cake and he loves the idea!
Really excited!!!Getting married: 21/06/12!Current weight loss: 2st!!!0 -

I would advise going down the preloved route...at least you know it's genuine then & not some cheap knock off. I've considered going down the China route too but I think it would cause unnecessary stress if it wasn't as perfect as I imagined, I guess at the end of the day it comes down to how important is the dress to you? If you can cope with it not being quite right then you might as well try buying from China, but if it's important to you that it looks & fits right (I think that's something people forget, a genuine dress is going to be much better fitted!) then go for preloved.
The other thing you could do, is if the dress you love is say, £300 over budget, can you save £300 elsewhere to pay for it?spoonymoose wrote: »Well girls, you can be nosey (I was just waiting for the opportunity to post what my dress was without the OH around!)
My "the one" is an Alfred Angelo, style 2136...
(The woman in the photo on the AA website seems to be falling backwards so it doesn't look "right" and doesn't make the dress look at amazing as it actually is, but I think there's some photos of the dress on ebay too!)
Anyways, I love it and can't wait to wear it! :j
Ooh the detailing on that is just gorgeous! I agree with the weird pose, but after looking at the close up photos I think you've picked a good'un there:idea:Debt at July 2012: £12,862.57

Hey
Thanks for the advice on the dress all! I don't reckon I am going to go down the China route but I am going to keep an eye out for a second hand one as I don't have to order the full priced one until September. My nan is actually buying my dress and is happy to pay the full £1350 but I just want to try and save her a bit of money if possible!
The dress is the Enzoani Diana dress - have a look and let me know your thoughts - I am sooooo excited!
Also just a quick tip - my sister in law to be found her bridesmaid dresses in a bridal shop at around £200 each. She went online and found a site called bestbridalprices.com where they sell the dresses direct from America (not knock offs just missing out the bridal shop in the UK - and the mark up) and found them for about £80 and even with shipping and tax they were only about £100. She had great service from them through email and asked for extra material to add to they dresses and they didn't charge her anything for it! They do also do wedding dresses on there so may well be worth a look.
Hope this helps someone!0 -
Oh my gosh Dulcie, your dress is just absolutely beautiful! I am another lace loving bride!! And how gorgeous is the sash that does with it too??! I happened to see that one is being sold on preloved but a petite size 8: http://www.preloved.co.uk/fuseaction-adverts.showadvert/index-1033747556/141404c8.html0

Thanks littlemissnau41
There are 2 on preloved but I think the 8 will be a little small. There is a size 10 on there but the straps have been altered to halterneck which I don't really like and the way the bustle has been done isn't greatI am going to keep searching for a second hand one though.
Have you picked your dress?0 -
Dulcie,
Such a beautiful dress - I'm another one that is absolutely loving the lace look! It just looks so classic and beautiful on doesnt it.:heart2::heart2: Bride to be - 30 June 2012:heart2::heart2:0
