We're wanting a ring with white and yellow gold, something quite patterned too.

We quite like something like this with the "bobbling" bit on the outside and the pattern on the inside. I'd prefer it with white gold on the outside and yellow in the middle so it has the essence of a traditional wedding band.

I don't think I'd want a diamond in it tho as my engagement ring will be the sparkle on my ring finger :)

Have you any ideas what you don't want? That's usually easier to list than what you want sometimes, I know it is with me!

  • Yay DiamondsnPearls! Welcome to the wedding thread! How exciting that you've decided on a date! :j Loving the colour theme too... Mine in navy and ivory with a touch of silver!

The OH and I are sending invitations to our parents... It helps with recording food choices too when they send the RSVP back :)
Thank you, we only decided to get wed a few weeks back! We were going to wait until September 2012 but we are too impatient lol

Your theme sounds lovely, silver on dark is so classy I think! although I am rather biased!

Welcome diamondsnpearls, I will add you to the front page!

We are also sending an invite to parents, which will be weird as we are having the traditional wording of MR and MRs ... would like the company of ... at their daughter ...'s marriage to ..!!
    Thank you! :j
I am going to send invites to everyone including ourselves and our children so we have keepsakes and if I don't send an invite to our eldest, he will be most upset!
We're getting there, we've paid the deposit for the...
    • venue (plus food)
    • registrar
    • photographer
    • cake maker
    • car
    • dress
    • flowers
The OH is off looking at hiring suits with his dad at some point and I am trying to give my sis a kick up the backside to just try on some bridesmaids dresses so I know what does and doesn't suit her.

A friend on mine is making the day invitations and a friend of the OH has said she'll make some extra cakes and her mum'll make some elderflower champagne (but don't know whether we're allowed it at the venue.)

The OH is currently making a brochure/leaflet thing for the invitations with information about the place, food, ceremony etc (the Royal Wedding seemed to kick him into gear) and we've sorted the guest list. We've also decided on rings, but need to type up the info to send to the jewellers to price them up.

Still loads to do though! The list seems to grow!

How about you? What have you done so far?
    Wow you have done loads!

    I have only
    • bought dress
    • found venue we want but havent even enquired about the date!
    • decided to have silk flowers
    • wrote guest list, but that may need tweaking

That's my thought exactly! It just seems to go, so we must both be biased!

In the grand scheme of things we've only just touched the surface on everything! The OH and I are doing some weddingy stuff today, don't know what tho...

I want an artificial bouquet but we have to spend a certain amount with the florist as it's part of the package which is kinda annoying (I'm like you, love keepsakes!) The artificial bouquet is about £45 compared to a real bouquet at £100!

Hmmm... The OH now wants trees when we have out ceremony (he's so copying the Royal Wedding) although our florist only do bay trees and so I don't think he's too impressed, the OH also wants a flowered arch... Only £500! But it would love beautiful, just not very MS at all!

If you check with the venue to see if they have the date available and then provisionally book your registrar if you're having a civil ceremony, we provisionally booked ours at the end of Feb so some let you :) (and plus it's that extra peace of mind!)

Does everyone know there's a 20% off their wedding range at BHS today - online only. I'm on there at the moment :)
I also found a site with artificial flowers on the other day called GT Decorations. Prices are really cheap and I was going to get some flowers for the candelabra from there until I found out that our venue will provide candelabras for free and they have someone in to do the table arrangements!
The site is below and it's showing the 'Occasions' flowers: http://www.gtdecorations.com/browse/occasions/Browse-by-Occasions-artificial-flowers-supplied-by-GT-Decorations
Delivery is based on weight and it says it will be £3-£6.

    Thanks for the welcome.

ashtray heart well found on your dress. A great MS bargin!

DiamondsnPearls you've got the same date as us. Very exciting.

How have you gone about florists? The florists I've enquired with don't want to give me prices until Sept 11. Thought this was a bit late and don't know how to provisionally book someone until you know prices.

I'm sort for car as OH has 1970 MG so think he'll be getting a fancy car if he can find it in our tight budget.

Did everyone enjoy Royal Wedding? Really got me excited!

    Hey

Just managed to find a photographer for £500 - is that good? He is doing pre wedding shots of me getting ready then all through the day until just after the first dance.

What is everyone doing with regards to feeding people on the day like the photgrapher, pianist etc. We are having a sit down wedding breakfast which is quite alot per head so not sure I really want to spend that much on them. The evening is fine cos we are only having a buffet for that so the band and photographer can help themselves.

Went back in and tried my dress on again with my nan etc. Everyone loves it so def going to get that one but am going to wait to order in case I find a second hand one and I want to lose some weight before ordering!!!:)

in terms of feeding them we are going to give them a bar meal although i know some venues give cheaper meals for photographers etc. Glad u found the dress :)

Ar I would keep looking. Our florist has given us prices.
First baby due 3/3/14 - Team Yellow! Our little girl born 25/2/14 :D

    Sounds good.

Anyone know what flowers they are going for? Not really sure what is in season in June??

Hi everyone, haven't managed to get on here for ages and can't believe how organised everyone is, I really need to get back on it!

I have ordered my dress though! Yay!

Going bridesmaid dress shopping in a couple of weeks, then going to sort flowers and cake out. Dulcie88, I have no idea about flowers at all, so going to struggle with that. Gonna try to find a really nice florist who will tell me everything I need to know.

Oh and must sort wedding insurance today (but have been saying that for the last six months - oooops!)
  • I'm not too sure on flowers either yet. My favourites are Peonies and Roses. Peonies can be quite expensive and have found some alternative cheaper ones that look similar - cabbage roses and a peony-tulip hybrid. Also might use some of the 'cheaper' flowers but just as pretty - gypsophilia, carnations and freesias. I think luckily June is a month when quite a lot of flowers are in bloom :)
