Batgirl If you have the log book why not contact the prevous owners to see if they had any problems with the car and why they sold it.

Thats a good idea too thanks.

Change the tyres as that is what holds the car to the road. Lucky you didn't buy a RWD car..............

Could you sell it privately for more than they would take as a trade in price? I know it's not ideal, but you might claw back some of the money you have spent..

Unless you can get an engineer to say your car is unsafe, say after RAC or AA inspection, then you will foot the entire financial loss on this car, so maybe get it inspected.

    This advice is good.

Get an independant AA or RAC inspection done on the car as soon as possible, if it reveals major faults with the car then take it back to the garage. If the inspection reveals nothing major then its likely the problems are low tyre pressure, ice and driver error and you options are to improve your driving/maintenance of the car or trade in and take the financial hit.

This thread is moving fast! Did put this as an edit on previous post.
Batgirl, can you describe what happened when you lost control. Did the car go light? did it pull to one side. did the back end swing out on you? were you accelerating, decelerating, braking, steady driving?
Please the more info the better.

Personally I don't believe there is a problem with the car as the problem may be between the seat and steering wheel ;o))))))

Sorry you aren't getting on with the car, I have a 206, not sure how similar they are but I love it.. it can be a bit skittish sometimes though in bad weather, although I've managed through the harsh weather okay.

How many miles do you think you have driven it in total? Maybe you are just finding it very different to the Focus?

How about going to a different garage, or Peugeot main dealer and having a safety check on it to try and ease your mind?

I think about 200 or 300miles in total, I live in the Lakes and for six months a year the weather is pretty shocking, I have never lost control in my focus (yes I understand they are different cars completely) and understand I have to get used to a different car I just regret buying it so badly got it for reliability thinking a newer car under warranty would be far better but so far I hate it and dont' trust it to A) start and B) not crash.
