Don't forget that Peugeots have a well known history of lift off oversteer.
This would be exagerated by a less than optimum tyre pressure.
At my place of work we have to do a tyre and pressure check daily before the vehicle is used.
From now on you might want to check your pressures once a week, you can get little preesure digital guages in Halfords that you can fit in the glovebox.
A Focus has very good handling, though can oversteer if provoked, but I reckon it will be a better handler and in fact better car than a 207.
Don't forget you have come down a class from mid size family hatch to supermini so you may need to adjust to the car.
To make a decision to sell a car, at huge financial cost, when the incident you are concerned about happened during a really heavy cold snap isn't very MSE.
Make sure your tyre pressures are spot-on, make sure you don't have a slow puncture.
And most importantly wait till the weather warms up a bit before making an impulsive decision to change.
My Dad has a 207, not my type of car but they are perfectly safe.
Unless you can get an engineer to say your car is unsafe, say after RAC or AA inspection, then you will foot the entire financial loss on this car, so maybe get it inspected.0 -
Just an idea, as you brought it from a dealer why don't you just go back to the dealer and tell them your concerns. It does not seem right that you've only had the car a few weeks and it's already have problems. The worst they can do is say they are not interested.
thats what I was thinking of doing but wasn't sure how to play it what to say if I had a leg to stand on etc etc?May 2015 £10 a day currently £2080 -

Calm down.
Here's how I read it:
Single lane road: A road with 2 lanes. 1 in each direction, hence being able to over take.
Edit:
Batgirl, can you describe what happened when you lost control. did the car go light? did it pull to one side, were you accelerating, decelerating braking, steady driving?
Please the more info the better.Near a tree by a river, there's a hole in the ground.
Where an old man of Aran goes around and around....0 -

Thank you, this is the kind of advice I expect from MSE not telling me what I want to hear but polite honesty, greatly appreciated thank you.May 2015 £10 a day currently £2080 -

Thank you that is what i meant, therefore the cars overtaking me where still driving the same road I had lost control on. YES!May 2015 £10 a day currently £2080 -
Sorry you aren't getting on with the car, I have a 206, not sure how similar they are but I love it.. it can be a bit skittish sometimes though in bad weather, although I've managed through the harsh weather okay.
How many miles do you think you have driven it in total? Maybe you are just finding it very different to the Focus?
How about going to a different garage, or Peugeot main dealer and having a safety check on it to try and ease your mind?9/70lbs to lose0 -
sell it and get a 205gti that way it will hold its value and wont drop anymore much better than the new pugs
a car will only normally spin on black ice if you are braking becuase your sliding or you give the wheel full lock in an attempt to steer then when you get to the grippy bit its game over0 -
