Could I go back to basics a bit? Isn't the 360p a heat recovery system? That is, the air going into the heat exchanger is (or should be) exhausted air from your home? If so, you'd expect the air, or at least some of it, to be at 15-20C, so lots of potential for extracting that heat in the heat exchanger, and you'd expect the heat pump to be optimised for operation at that temp of airflow. If the air is simply ambient air at -10 recently, or 2 or 3 as today, then it looks like it may be operating in a very inefficient regime which it wasn't designed for. The killer may be (as is cropping up almost all the time), the defrosting strategy ... does it even have one? Defrost may not be an issue for exhaust heat recoivery systems, but they sure are with ambient air systems.
So is the airflow over the compressor unit effectively ducted from your house (i.e. warm(ish!) exhaust air), or is it simply ambient air?0 -

The air for the evaporator is taken directly from the house itself through exhaust ducts in the ceiling so it will be whatever temp the house is at. So if the house is at 15C then it will suck that air in and across the evaporator and then exhaust it outside. If you found my post helpful, please remember to press the THANKS button! --->0 -
So Nibe had the chance to resolve your situation and instead chooses threat of legal action. We dont know the relationship between Nibe and the installer. If the installer has been on a Nibe training course, or is accredited by Nibe, then you would expect Nibe to acknowledge that it has some resonsibility that its systems are specified and installed correctly.
Even if Nibe are not in any way responsible, they have lost an opportunity to take the moral high ground. So this thread would legitimately make one wonder:- Is the Nibe 360p product fit for purpose?
- Are installers trained to specify Nibe system correctly?
- Are Nibe responsible for performance of its distribution/installation chain.
- Are the performance claims capable of being upheld in law?
Hi, totally agree it wouldn't hurt them to join us and talk to us about our problems instead people threaten me with the courts. Due to me being the first person to start all of this on our housing estate i was called an idiot by one of the companies, am i an idiot because i spoke up for people's rights and cost of living maybe if people helped us we wouldn't have to go to these extremes.0 -
There's not point in nibe joining in on this forum as it will not fix the problems people have and the problem that i have which is the unit is to small for our home my nibe 360p is working fine and always has been it is too small to cope,
Today is even more expensive with the nibe due to the cold outside i will post back later with the results,
I just wish i did somthing about this months ago but i did not know it was the nibe eating the electric i have two children in the house to provide for and i do not this any one cares about that,
All i know is that who ever provided/sold these units to melin home is trying to get out of it and saying any thing to get out of it, With the weather as it is it ist costing me over £80 a week to heat this house and run appliances and i have not got money to burn,Hi, totally agree it wouldn't hurt them to join us and talk to us about our problems instead people threaten me with the courts. Hi guy's one of our neighbors today was running the Autumn/Spring mode like ourselves as this is a little cheaper to run than the Winter mode, however you do have to get a little cold and struggle with the hot water. He was told to put it onto the Winter setting to keep his house warm with constant hot water.
This might be covering old ground but it is something we haven't tried and just wanted to show our results in just a couple of hours. We changed our setting to the Winter setting at 17:30 to see what the kW usage would be and so i could track it constantly. Yes the house did get warmer (first time since, well don't know when and at last decent hot water) but what a kW killer.
17:30 - Changed to Winter Mode and took reading = 03263
(Immersion kicked in straight away i assume to get house upto temp and hot water at a decent temp too).
18:30 - Took reading = 03272 - 9kW used in an hour.
23:00 - Took reading = 03283 - 11kW used in 4.5Hrs
23:05 - Ran bath.
0:00 - Took reading = 03288 + 1 for night usage - 6kW used in an hour.
Total kW Used = 25kW day usage so far + 1kW night usage
Immersion didn't go off until the Temp HW Sensor reached 54.6 degrees.
Just as a test we are running this until 17:30 tonight, i do fear the worst but if we have more cold snaps this year or the Winter mode is on next Winter then i want to know what this thing is going to cost.
We will update tomorrow with the final reading and again thanks for the Energy Saving Trust Trial of Air Source Pumps i found this an eye opener, i wasn't expecting the best rating to be just good i was expecting something to at least meet very good or excellent.0 -
11kW in 4.5 hours is a lot any luck with your housing association at all mate?,
The thing that annoys me is that we was told this system is eco friendly and cheap to run and would save us money but it is 6x more expensive than gas, We have been keeping the nibe swiched off as much as possible offer the last two days as it costs around £8.50p a day in this weather,Hi guy's one of our neighbors today was running the Autumn/Spring mode like ourselves as this is a little cheaper to run than the Winter mode, however you do have to get a little cold and struggle with the hot water.
