Calm before the storm here. Been running around shopping, preparing food, baking cake, blowing up balloons today. I'm sooo excited and yet my little girl has no idea she is 1 tomorrow. Bubbly is chilling too, so mummy and daddy can celebrate surviving our first year.

    Hi all,

We tried the 1+ formula, but the smell made me feel ill and LO didn't like it, luckily he loves milk, although at the moment he seems to only want milk and yoghurts! At 14 months old he has turned into a very picky eater, OH is struggling the most and is getting very angry during meals telling LO off for throwing his food around. I am trying really hard to explain that we need to be relaxed and happy when we eat with LO and let him feed himself and make a mess if that is what he wants to do.

LO is at nursery 4 days a week now and I am hoping to get to reduce my hours to 4 days a week soon to make it me who is with him on the tuesdays he isn't in nursery.

At nursery they say LO doesn't eat much fruit at snack times and some days doesn't eat his food, but he is happy and growing, although not too quickly.

I believe he will eat when he is hungry and we should let him explore his food himself but OH is unsure what to do. It is making our weekends quite stressful and this is not what any of us want.

Any tips from those of you who have been there would be great.

    Thanks.

Ll you're right, mealtimes need to be stress free!

We've found that squeak will eat anything that's come off oh's plate, regardless of whether she likes it or not! We did have a bizarre incident where she ate a whole pickled onion with a look of disgust on her face!

In spite of baby being really quite good, I feel like I've not slept for a hundred years :( plus we both have the cold from hell.

    Thanks Delain,

I know what you mean about feeling whacked all the time. LO is amazing at night, although the last few nights he has been crying and coughing a lot at night, so broken sleep for us all. But he is so happy and bouncy all day.

He is also very lazy, he has never tried to get into a seated position from lying. He bum shuffles around brilliantly and is now trying to pull himself up to the standing position but still demands someone pulls him up. We think he is just lazy and are not too worried, but every so often we question if something is wrong?

Sill really. Isn't being a mum great, tired and questioning all the time.

They need to play with food. It's part of their development of the different senses and at the moment his mind is thinking through important issues like "I wonder what that banana would feel like if I squish it in my hair" :D
Here I go again on my own....

DD1 would mash banana into the (green) carpet!

She made up for it by puking all over ex mil's car :D

We have poorly tummies here at the moment, so far so good, no sick yet.

Hope Nina had a lovely Birthday Mit3 :)

Hello LL ! Yes I agree being a mother is great. My DS is such a good boy and sleeps so well now. I know that when we put him down at 7 he'll be out until 6.30-7ish the next morning. I probably shouldn't say that actually as he'll probably stop sleeping now! :rotfl:

Thanks all for the birthday wishes, we had a lovely, if somewhat exhausting day yesterday. Tons of leftover food, the kids just wanted to zoom around (all walking except our LO) and just getting them all in one place to do the cake cutting before the parents wanted to whizz them home to bed was a challenge.

This week we start nursery proper, fingers crossed it goes well, I'm looking forward to having a shopping day ;). Except I've got to return loads of clothes LO got - why when everyone knows she is small for her age do they buy 12-18 month size (she still fits some of her 3-6 month sleepsuits!).

Make it 3 my nan up north does it every time... My older 3 are tall and DD1, Although she is 9 she needs age 12... The thing is every year she rings to ask me the size and then sends age 9! I just say thank you then see if I can find one down here in the right size. The thing is she gets them from a huge sainsburys (biggest store in yorkshire apparently) and in spite of me putting in serious miles and checking out 3 branches I cant find the party dresses down here!

Twin1 has given me the morning from hell, I'm ashamed to say it but i was glad.when she left for school.

Oh and I.have toothache and earache to go with my cold and no sleep *sigh*
