    Hi Ladies,

Looks like there are quite a few of us with 1 year old birthdays coming up. Where has the year gone? I can honestly say it has been the best year of my life but harder than I was expecting!!

Our little boy is 1 a week today. We are having family and a few friends around. What is everyone else doing?
I'm doing a small party (5 mums and their babies so far, plus the 2 nannys). I'm trying not to get carried away as she won't know what's going on, but is there any harm in doing it for me?! I'm planning on making party bags but have no idea what to put in them for 1 year olds! Been making a list of some foods for the babies as it's going to be just for a couple of hours over lunch time. I was thinking of doing finger sandwiches, but Maddy's gone off them and talking to the mums so have their little ones! So not sure if that's a waste of time. I didn't really want to have to cook anything. I was going to cover the carpet in picnic rugs and sort of do it like an indoor picnic.
In the end after much worrying, stress etc I resigned. I have now found a part time job, 3 days a week which I start in mid Feb. I am so much happier about this.
I've been back 3 days a week (using holiday) and even though I still hate it, it really is the happy medium for having to go back to work. 4 days off is lovely :) But sadly I've got to go back 5 days.
Few tears here. AF arrived this morning:-( 3 days late and I always have a regular cycle so felt like I was being teased.
    Awww, (hugs).

I'm CD22 and have no idea if I've Ov'd yet. Last month I must have ov'd on CD21. So my cycles are a week longer than they used to be.

I'm very torn over when we should start trying for another baby. We'd agreed to start when Joe turns 2, but DH would be quite happy to start now. Part of me wants to wait (I have this ideal of a 3-ish year gap so that I won't need a double buggy as I hate the things :o), but part of me worries that I'm not getting any younger - I'll be 38 by Joe's 2nd birthday and even if I get pregnant straight away I'll be 39 by the time #2 arrives. I'm tempted to have my coil out now (which has only been in 2 1/2 months) and just see what happens. Aside from the double buggy thing, I was also thinking that by the time Joe is 3 we'll be getting some of his childcare paid for which will make things a bit easier financially, but with all the cuts happening I don't think we can rely on that still being the case in a couple of years :(

Joe seems to have 4 molars all coming through at once :( One has broken the surface, and the others don't feel very far off. Calpol and Anbesol are his best friends at the moment.
    Poor Joe :(
I think we all know we can't plan these things, I'm desperate to get pregnant again as a) I loved being pregnant (OK...after week 15 I did!) (b) don't want a huge age gap (c) ideally would love to have a baby before the end of 2012 so the birthday would be in a different month to virtually all our family (d) it's my ticket out of work and I'm saving enough to be a SAHM for a couple of years (e) I loved being in labour and giving birth (probably just jinxed myself for an awful birth now).

Every day since DD was born I dream of being pregnant, desperately trying to remember what it's like to have her kicking inside me. Is that weird?!

Also (and this may sound awful) DS is great now. Sleeps 12 hours a night and is such a good boy. I sometimes think back to the early days and shudder a bit as it was SO tough for the first few weeks. Do I really want to go through all that again?? :rotfl:

But I do want a little brother or sister for him, and I'm guessing it's not QUITE so scary the second time around...??
I don't reckon its as scarey cos at least we'll know for a fact that there's an end to those awful early days. But I am absolutely dreading the first 4 weeks. Although hopefully this time I won't be fighting infection with unknown retained products ending in a PPH, so I'm hoping I should be able to cope better than I did.

My OH has started getting on my back about giving him another one. I just don't think I can do it all again. It's not just the first few weeks, she still only sleeps thru on the odd occasion.

I don't have the luxury of waiting a bit, its now or never. I'm happy with just one and devoting my energy to seeing she grows up to be a good person. She also seems so perfect to me I think it would be playing with fire to chance me producing something so wonderful again.
We Made-it-3 on 28/01/11 with birth of our gorgeous DD.
  • I am also going to be 38 on my next Birthday (Arrrghh!!!) so feel like we should get on with things.

Ladies, I am really confused, I had a very light slightly pinky discharge this morning and coupled with the cramps thought that was it for us this month. But I have had nothing since. AF type cramps are still there (have been all week) but I am now nearly 4 days late.

Still not tested as cramps are so painful and feels like it is on it's way

    Thanks

It's nice to see it a bit more lively in here :)

Hugs BP. I hope you get a sticky bean soon.

Happy birthday Josh for tomorrow. And well done on the crawling, young man :T

Joe's definitely a mover :) We've been to toddler group this morning and I spend the whole time following him around as he never sits and plays with anything for more than a couple of minutes. It does nothing for my social life as I never get a chance to chat to anyone for more than a couple of minutes! I tried leaving him to his own devices and just kept an eye on him, but he kept checking to see where I was and came back and grabbed my hand if I didn't follow quick enough :o

My sister has 2 years 3 months between her two and the older one just rides on a buggy board. He's even fallen asleep on it! Just leans on her lol. I'm planning on just putting the new one in a sling.

Don't forget you will be on maternity leave once the new one is born and most people take the kids out of nursery when they are on maternity leave so you don't need to wait for the free hours when they turn 3 to save money. My work and my OH's actually allow us to keep getting our childcare vouchers even when I'm on the basic maternity pay so we can afford to keep put DD in nursery for a day a week.

    Thanks

I though AF had arrived after our first month of trying after DD but it was just three days of bleeding and then stopped. I tested a week later and got the BFP. Wasn't expecting it to happen on the first month of trying but the same happened to my sister. Fingers crossed for you.

I would just put a small book in and a piece of birthday cake. You can get cheap packs of books from shops like The Works or on the Book People website and split them.

Any news this morning BargainPrincess? I didn't think I was pg when I had Charlotte as I'd had spotting and felt PMT'y. I got a shock when I tested and it was positive. I would test just to put my mind at rest if I were you.

Bought James a new mattress which arrived today and I just dumped the old one in the hall while I put the new one on. Charlotte thinks it's great and was bouncing on it, then she had a picnic on it with her lunch, and now various teddies and one of the dogs are sitting on it with her and they're going on a boat journey. Who needs toys? :D
Here I go again on my own....
  • Ladies, Still no AF but bad pains. Not tested yet though. So icy cold outside, I don't think I want to walk down to town. I am still breastfeeding so am convinced it is just my system not back to normal yet.

I'm still bf! I was convinced we hadn't DTD at the right time and assumed bf was messing with AF which is why I didn't test until I was already over a week late.

Thanks Becles, I have been googling ideas and books came up which is a great idea. Going to have a look at the cheap shop in town.

Now I need an idea for a 1st birthday present for a boy...MV did Josh get any good presents? I was going to get a Gruffalo book, but it says 3 yrs plus :( Maddy got a gruffalo book for Christmas...I didn't mind that it's early.

BargainPrincess - I hope it's good news for you. I'm also still breastfeeding and it's played havoc with my cycles.
