Hello everyone, thought this thread had disappeared when the < 1 year one popped up.

I'm back at work :(:(:(:(:(:( it's horrible :( The best bit is coming home to DD. The first day was amazing - I got face squidged to death :) And tonight she properly hugged me like she's never done before :A

DD is just past 11 months she's crawling, crusing, standing, walks holding my hand, uses the highchair as a baby walker and the nappy bin lol It never ceases to amaze me how different they all are. She's always been far too nosey to stay put :) But she's not anywhere near talking I don't think. I get the odd mama (when she's in distress mostly). And I think she might be trying to copy 'hello'. She just squeals mostly, much to my parents' dog's dismay.

Well done on Josh for crawling :)

Lovely to see a few of us 'old-timers' keeping this thread going.

I'm dreading the wrench of when I return to work Giz and I don't even have any yet! Everyone says hometime is the best bit of the day - glad you got such a big hug.

They are so different in how they develop, I think we get a bit worried about them not keeping up with their peers but they all get there in the end. I do think they focus on what interests them most so they fall into walker or talker camps. Mine being the latter, over new year she has started pointing and saying "there" when we ask where certain things are and she even said "moon" when pointing at it. So she probably has about about 8 words in her vocabulary if count "miaow" to the cat!

Lab lover hello again! :D. Seriously don't put too much emphasis on your boss' feelings.....he isn't the one who will be checking that your your nursing home have laundered your clothes to your exact liking....your gorgeous little boy will be doing that! :D. I know it is very hard but please don't let them guilt trip you into anything that does not suit your family.
  • Hi Ladies,

Looks like there are quite a few of us with 1 year old birthdays coming up. Where has the year gone? I can honestly say it has been the best year of my life but harder than I was expecting!!

Our little boy is 1 a week today. We are having family and a few friends around. What is everyone else doing?

Oh and in other news, I have really bad AF cramps (TMI) but am 2 days late. We have only just decided to sort of not not try (ie not avoid) if that makes any sense. It took us two long years the first time and I am not getting any younger. Surely it can't happen that quick and am I mad!?!

  • Lab - he was born on the 14th at 3.45pm, so would be tomorrow but I distinctly remember feeling yuck from about this time the day before!

Just read your post. I know exactly what you mean about dreading the whole going back to work thing. My company were rubbish at being flexible re me going back part time, and the 'compromise' they came back with eventually was basically full time but with a day working from home..so I still would have had to put DS into full time childcare!

In the end after much worrying, stress etc I resigned. I have now found a part time job, 3 days a week which I start in mid Feb. I am so much happier about this.

Stick to your guns and do what's right for you and your family. Hope it goes ok with your meeting.

Oooh Princess..might you be expecting another LO??? How exciting! :D

    Hi everyone

Nice to see the thread back again. The new thread is great for new mums and nice to give some advise but feel like Poppy is one of the old ones. Also slightly depresses me how all the new babies seem to sleep better than Poppy haha.

MV - yay to your lo crawling, they all do it in their own time!

I am one with a mover rather than talker. She crawls and cruises round the furniture and has even started letting go for a couple of seconds eek! She has never kept still either.

I have got a toothbrush for LO, she only has one tooth she got on christmas day. Must try her with it though.
