ooh, meant to say with nappies i find if LO has had lots to eat in evening and has a big belly when he goes to bed the nappies sometimes leak as his tummy shrink. for us pampers easy dry? (the ones in the green packet) seem to be the best as more elasticy.

im now getting worried about the amount of words my LO is saying, at 16months he only uses a few words. is this the way its always going to be, you worry about one thing then the other?

every child/baby is different, my two spoke very early on and i firmly believe this is because im completley crazy and talk so much nonsense to them and myself in general whilst walking around the house that they chose to spoke just to shut me up now and again lol

my sister in law has 4 kids (number 5 due next month) they all spoke later than my boys and thier youngest boy never spoke until he was a good 3 1/2 yrs old could only say the odd word and grunted all the timr. they moved to france a couple of yrs ago and by the age of 6 he is quite fluent in english and french :T he still has quite a husky voice though from all the grunting lol
now proud mum to 3 handsome boys :j latest one born 10/10/11:j

Ah, MV, time does go by so quickly. I was only thinking this morning as Joe was trotting around the bedroom, babbling away, while we were getting ready for work, that he's pretty much a toddler now

I'm sure your DS will be fine this week. We were lucky and Joe settled in without too many problems. I do know others have found it harder, but even they didn't take too long to settle in. Expect the worst and hopefully it won't be that bad. :grouphug:

We do Joe's teeth twice a day, after breakfast and before his bath, but it's a bit hit and miss. Sometimes he'll let us brush them, other times not. I try not to stress about it too much as I'm sure this is par for the course with all babies and we don't all grow up with awful teeth, do we? I'm hoping we're getting him used to the routine now and that it'll get easier in time.

Joe currently likes to grab the toothbrush and put it in his mouth himself, so I just try to brush while he holds onto it. Or give him a spare toothbrush to hold.

SIL used to lie her girls across her knee on their backs, tilted head downwards, as they were less able to fight back. But unfortunately Joe's a bit too strong for that to work on him.

Thanks elaine. Joe does have quite a pot belly at the end of the day, so maybe that's contributing to it. Though he seems to leak mostly around his legs. I might give pampers a try as I'm getting a bit sick of having to wash pyjama bottoms every day.

And Joe doesn't use any words at all at 14 months. But he can feed himself and copy the tombliboos dance on In the Night Garden :D, so I figure he's an actions rather than words kinda guy ;)

    Hello Ladies long time :D

DD2 is now 13 months old  that time has flown.

She is still not walking but crawls like the wind and walks around on her knees :rotfl: ehich does look very funny indeed.

We have not had the best start to the year as we spent new year in hospital as she had Croup  thankfully she is on the mend slowly. :o

I can't wait to get her walking she has got the talking down even our doctor made a comment that her vocab was advanced  I said she gets that from her mother!!! who can talk for england!!! :rotfl:

Any tips on helping to get her walking?????
If you can think it........it will happen
  • The wanderer returns:o........been MIA for ages and TInk you've promted me to post coz L is exactly the same as yours, 14 months refuses to walk or stand on her own but *proud mummy alert* can talk/babble for england, knows where most of her body parts are, feeds herself and can say a few words...fave atm is 'Oh Dear' :D although the talking all seemed to click into place at the same time! Anyhoo, walking.............we sit within a few steps of each other and encourage her to come to us, using chocolate to bribe her **Ohhhh the shame**:rotfl::rotfl: she can do it when she wants to, unfortunately she just never wants to! Hopefully she'll be doing it on her own soon otherwise BILs wedding wil be hilarious with Lottie(whos flowergirl) crawling down the aisle trying to whack everyone with the basket they want her to carry:eek::D:rotfl:
Dont stress about it though, we've just got bonidle little ladies:p

Hi Fuzz and Tinks - good to see you again :)

Sorry, I've no idea what you can do to get your LOs walking. Joe had a go at a couple of steps just before he turned 1 but wasn't too keen. He didn't even attempt it again for about a month - but then he was off! So all I can say is they'll do it when they are ready.

Probably just the case that they will be bossy little things who will have the likes of Joe doing the running around for them ;)

Hope your DDs are feeling better soon Tinks

Happy New Year everyone. Seems like all the new mummies deserted us for a new thread and we're lingering down on page 5!!!

Oh the shame of it, I haven't even got round to buying a baby toothbrush yet and my LO has had two teeth for a couple of months now. It just seems like asking for another fight with her. You should see nappy changing.

MV, hope you enjoy a very happy first birthday with Josh this weekend. I remember it so well, you stealing my EDD! Do pm me if you have time for a meet up before you start work.

We're waiting for a part so OH can fix our oven this weekend, so its working in time for me to make our LO's birthday cake. Anyone any good recipes for something healthy/low-sugar??

MI3 I'd just get one and let her play with it in the bath or at bedtime when getting ready for bed to start, maybe get a little brush in at the end when you take it back but if she is fighting I'd not push it. I made it a battle with my first and it was a big mistake - its still a nightmare to get her to brush her teeth and she is nearly 7. I gave Bob a toothbrush from 6 months and he didnt have any teeth till 10 months, just to get him used to it. Or you can brush your teeth whilst they do theirs. If all they do is chew the toothbrush as first I wouldnt worry, it gets them used to having it in their mouths. PS nappy changing is a proper fight here too but he loves brushing his teeth.

Tinks and Fuzz Bobs not walking yet either, he has stood without holding on and taken one step and fallen but mostly he just walks round the furniture and walls and crawls inbetween. But he doesnt talk at all either, I'm a little concerned about this but he is just like his sister and really quiet.

Happy Birthday josh for the weekend, cant believe he is a year old now MV x
