            Hi Ladies....
I shall hopefully be joining you soon when i manage to shift this awkward little miss, but thought i would also let you know, that at the request of some of the ladies, i have set up a sister thread for the specific newborn/one year period, so that there is a transition place from the highly active PG club thread for those who want it.
 https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3703511
Would love to see you over there as well, to share your tips and advice, even if your LO's are now outside the "window".

            I've had flu over Christmas
I felt unwell on Christmas Eve, but managed to ignore it and struggle through assembling trampolines and pool tables, cooking and cleaning. Felt rough as anything on Christmas Day but my Mam helped with the dinner and did the washing up. Just crashed after my parents went home and I've not felt well since. I'm supposed to be at the Sunderland match this afternoon but I felt too unwell to go
Bairns had a lovely Christmas though and the look on their faces was priceless when they saw their presents. That made it all worthwhile
Sorry to hear that some parents of newborns didn't feel welcome on this thread and felt the need to set up a new one. Hope you get the support you need there, as those first few weeks are tough, especially if it's your first.
Hope everyone had a good New Years, and best wishes for 2012 xxHere I go again on my own....0

Hi Beccles, Happy New Year! Sorry you have been feeling poorly . Well done you for struggling on for your wee ones! . Well done you for struggling on for your wee ones!
Please dont think we didnt feel welcome.. Not at all that . I hope it will be like the various PG threads, where people can use one, other or both. The main PG thread is so fast and active, and specific, and this thread is much wider, that some of the ladies just thought it would be nice to have a specific little nook for that first period as well, as a kind of transition point. . I for one will certainly be hanging out here as well asking you experienced mums lots of questions, and i hope you will feel free to pop over to the NB one to give us a nudge in the right direction too!:)Married 13/03/10 #1 DD born 13/01/12!!

Hey Beccles, sounds like you've had a rough Christmas, just about all my family have had the same bug over the festive period
Just to echo Kira, the new thread isn't a result of feeling unwelcome on this thread, rather that a few people had been thinking that it may be beneficial to have a thread specifically for those 'newborn/1st year issues', and everyone is welcome. As a first timer I certainly appreciate people's advice/experience!0

Poor Becles. What a time to get the flu! You must have been like the women in the boots advert Hope you get a bit of strength back soon. At least the kiddies had a fun time. I have to say, my DD who is 5 this month, was a complete hoot - very entertaining. A great age for making Christmas special for everyone. Hope you get a bit of strength back soon. 5 is a good age for entertaining. Charlotte is 4 and cracks me up with some of the things she comes out with
I was a bit like her! I'd taken off time from work between Christmas and New Year and had all these plans, but we never managed to do anything. My parents are away on holiday during Feb half term, so I'll take that week off work and we'll do loads of fun stuff then instead.
After the tough year I had in 2011, my main new years resolution is to have fun Here I go again on my own....0 Here I go again on my own....0

Hi everyone and happy new year! I loved last year because my gorgeous boy was born but I'm excited about the year ahead :-). As for resolutions I've got one. I want to make lots of effort to try and keep my relationship with DH good so we're not just parents who take one another for granted. We've done that since LO joined us but I think it's pretty understandable to begin with. I just want to make sure we still get to be a couple a bit too. Oh and I need to shift about 20 stone after eating for 10 during my pregnancy!!
Poor you Beccles. I can sympathise because both me and LO were poorly as from the day before Xmas eve and we're only just getting over the worst now!
LO and I start swimming lessons this week. Can't wait to see how he copes as I'm sure he'll love it. I'm basing that on the fact he adores bath time so I hope I'm not wrong.
We're having a few probs with sleeping but it's still totally different from the first 3 months that I don't see it is as a prob as such. Just a bit jealous that every other baby I know seems to be a superb sleeper. Hey ho. Right I'm gonna try and grab a bit of kip while I can!
Take care and spend a lot of time smiling this year!
Ps Jenjade most of my sleep suits are boy ish but if you don't get many takers I can check how many neutral ones I have. Let me know0

doglover I'm starting swimming lessons with Daniel next week hopefully. We got a free trial and he was happy enough, until I lost concentration and dunked him under Still, only bothered him for a minute. I thought the same as you, he loves his baths, plus id like to meet other mums. My only worry is my size! I've not shifted the pregnancy weight at all yet and hate the thought of wearing a swimsuit. Hoping this motivates me to lose the weight now.
