Sorry for keep on appearing on this thread when I've still got 4 weeks to graduation
but I was wondering if anyone has used those lilypadz and if they're any good, I want to make sure they actually stick before I spend £20 on them. 0 -
Hey All,
Sorry i dont post often, i find RL is getting in the way of my previous ample time for posting and reading lol.
Emilia is amazing, growing well and putting on weight, we had a trip to the Dr and then the hospital last week following the appearance of a viral rash but all is well and i cannot speak highly enough of the Drs, Receptionist, and all the hospital staff, they were amazing!
I expressed for the first time yesterday (and threw away an ounce as it was just an experiment lol) then expressed 2 ounces today and OH fed her a bottle, it was lovely to see
but she was still hungry after so had some breast, tomorrow i am going to try to express a bit more so that OH can give her a full feed. The intention at the moment is to express for one bottle feed a day with OH for them to have some time together, but i am thinking about stepping up the expressing and freezing so that we have some in store for nights out etc.
I was thinking today though, that it is soooo much easier for me to just feed rather than faffing with expressing and bottles, maybe im being a bit selfish but i love that time together and that feeling of only i can share this with her - especially since we have pretty much decided that there will be no more. I am happy with that decision but it means i want to make the most of every second of this time we have with her.
PP congratulations on being a grandparent again
Hope DD1 is happy, i'm sure she will do a great job with your support.
missy sorry, i have no idea what they are?
Hey Winnie and mirror congrats on moving over and on the birth of your little ones. I find that having a tighter bra (if possible) seems to help my nipples, the more they have freedom to move the more they hurt - also try changing breast pads a little more often, the fresher they are the more padding you get
Beccles hope that all of the illnesses have evacuated now and that James' ankle is better

Congrats PP

That's so annoying mirror. My washer died when I was heavily pregnant with Charlotte, and I was dreading having no washer and a newborn!
Thanks Puzzled. Everyone much better here apart from Charlotte has a lingering runny nose from a cold and it's Josh's turn to wear a bandage as he sprained his wrist when he got tackled and fell on it playing football yesterday! It's his right wrist as well and he can't write with his left hand, so he's struggled at school today.
Congrats on the expressing. I never could get the hang of that. Here I go again on my own....0 -
Oh !!!!!!.. I have had enough!
DS3 has 2 lots of appointments (paed and diabetic clinic), DD4 has 4 (OT, paed, physio and orthopaedics) as does DD5, Dot has 1 up to now (PLEASE let the hip scan show all is normal!!!) as well as all the usual dentist and optician annual visits.. DD3 has now again been referred for assessment for ASD (so we have a CAF done then referral to CAMHS who are useless and a paed because I will insist on it).. I seriously cannot keep up!!
I have now also been TOLD to apply for DLA for DS3 (by the diabetes nurse) and ADVISED to claim for DD3 as well (due to her bedwetting and possible asd)... but Id feel such a fraud we already get it for DD4 and 5.. it just doesnt sit right that we should get it for another 2 of the children. Would be wrong for me to claim for these 2.. apparently it is fairly standard for diabetic children to get awarded DLA because they do require extra care. I feel applying for bedwetting is silly.. yes we have to replace mattresses and duvets and pillows and pjs and sheets with alarming regularity and she wears pullups to bed and the extra hammer on the washing machines etc.. is it wrong to claim?
If my hips and back dont start improving Ill be eligible too lol.. I am still hobbling about like I am 90!! it is not good!
I have an evil sore throat today
DD1 told me off for not being sympathetic when she moaned her boobs hurt.. I replied.. Ha!! ... we it seemed appropriate lol.
Best go recover Squeak from her nest.. she slept 12 hours last night and has just had a 3.5 hour nap!!! She is hardly ever awake!! My children are all dormice!
KH having ratbag after school supposedly.. though I dont see why I should pick them up he is more than capablle.. lazy dung worm!
I am finishing OHs jumper off later I think.. while he cooks dinner for me, himself, Squeak and whoever else refuses to go to KHs!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
If you're entitled to it then, in my opinion, you should claim PP. If you have 4 children eligible for DLA, then so be it; I'm sure you didn't choose to have children with such issues. Something like bedwetting may seem trivial but as you've already said it does put extra pressures on the household.
It makes a mockery of the system when some people are claiming fraudulently, and yet people who have a valid claim aren't getting what they are entitled to because they don't think their problem is worthy of a claim (even if it is!)
I hope your hips and back improve soon. And congrats on becoming a Grandmother again! I guess an advantage of being one of the eldest of a large brood is that your DD should have a good idea of what to expect and already be well practised at changing nappies
I'm sitting here wearing fingerless gloves as my hands are freezing
I always have this problem (and cold feet too), my circulation must be rubbish.
Joe's nursery have a parent's evening on Thursday. I doubt there'll be very much to talk about but it'll be nice to see his folder as they do tend to take lots of photos. They also had a professional photographer in yesterday and Joe was apparently very smiley for him, so I can't wait to see those pics

!!!!!! Piggers - claim! My nephew had continence issues due to spina bifida occulta ( hidden form of spina bifida) - he's only just dry at night at nearly 15 - she got low rate care purely to help with replacing mattresses, bedding etc..and of course there is wear and tear on the washing machine. You are entitled to it so claim it!:jFlylady and proud of it:j0 -
I would claim PP. I'm sure the extra cash would be useful with the children and if you are entitled to it, you might as well have it. Hope everything else sorts itself out. Sounds very stresseful there at the moment *hugs*
Have a look at this website for tips on keeping warm Bigbird http://www.raynauds.org.uk/
I've got Raynauds and find prevention is much better than getting cold and trying to warm back up again. It's much better putting layers of clothes on and then peeling them back off again if you feel too warm. Have a blanket handy by the sofa, so you can wrap up if you feel chilly sitting.
Always put gloves etc., before you go out, rather than going out and deciding yes it is cold enough to wear gloves!
Those little gel handwarmers are great if you are going to be outside for any length of time. You click them and they go hot. I take them to football and stick them in my gloves at half time
You can reset them by boiling them in a pan of water and use them over and over.
Also think about odd times when you get cold at home, like nipping out to put rubbish in the wheelie bin or handling frozen food in the freezer. It's worth putting gloves on for that even though it seems silly at the time.
Exercise helps get your circulation going too. Try and have a brisk walk or do some energetic housework or something every day to keep your blood moving. My guilty pleasure is a Just Dance session on the Wii, purely for medicinal purposes of course

I agree you should claim PP.
Puzzled - glad the expressing is going well. I find it such a faff as well.
Bigbird - the parents evening will be nice to see / hear what he has been doing. The professional pics sound good, we have just signed up to have some next week at the baby and toddler group.
I have just handed in registation forms and deposit for nursery for Poppy in March, is nearly five months away but bet it will come quick.0 -
Hello everyone I have a rare 10 mins to do a quick update. DD is now 4mths (19wks) and breast feeding is going well dispite the fact she now has two front teeth <<eek>> ...I've given up expressing completely now as having excusively expressed for 3 mths I've developed a severe aversion to the sound of an electronic pump lol.
She is also starting to try to sit up which is v. funny as she cant stay up and has to be rescued as she rolls right back down.
Ds2 is still a misery guts though and more so today as he has a cold and keeps wanting to lie on me if I so much as go near the sofa. However I have a house to tidy so can't let myself be sidetracked today.
My washer died when I was 8 mths pregnant with dd. I had a new one by the end of the week - I can manage without many things but a washing machine isn't one
. We get stuff like that with a comet card if cash is tight and then pay off as much as we can monthly. I'd be quite happy to get one off freecycle but OH has a friend who got given something like 3 duff machines before he got one that worked so Oh wasn't keen on that option. Unfortunately as I didn't chose the new one its C*ap compared to my old one which had such a good spin the clothes practically came out dry...I'm almost waiting for this one to go so I can get a better one now
.

I agree with Big bird PP - you should definately make the claim.MSE PARENT CLUB MEMBER.ds1 nov 1997ds2 nov 2007:jFirst DDFirst DD born in june:beer:.0 -
Delurking again, PP I also think you really should claim, why should you be left short when you are actually entitled and there are people claiming left right and centre fraudulantly. You're not working the system or asking for the money. You've been told to claim it. And from what you say, you really are forking out a lot of money, even just for the pull ups they're expensive, so please don't feel bad for claiming something you are very much entitled to x0
