hi all, another graduate from the pregnancy thread here (hi winnie in pooh hope all is going well) our samuel was born on monday after being induced on the sunday and an emergency section monday morning, both baby and i are doing fine, breast feeding going well even if i am a little tired.
im usually grumpy when i first wake or have little sleep but hubby asked me this morning around 4 am how comes i was so chirpy, so had to explain that im awake because my baby is here with us and that just makes me so happy.

re breastfeeding in public, at the end of the day you are doing a great job breast feeding and its nothing to be embarresed about, just place a muslin over you and feed, its a natural thing, no way would i go into a toilet to do it yuck lol

    Hi everyone!

Hope you don't mind me joining the thread? I'm just graduating from the pregnancy thread with DS2 who is a week old today :)

I was hoping to get some tips on breastfeeding while out and about. I'm feeding on demand and its my birthday tomorrow and my mum has booked a table at a fairly posh restaurant which is very open plan so no discreet tables in the corner and I don't want to have to take him to the loo to feed him. Anyone have any advice on discreet feeding?

    TIA, Win :)

Dont you dare go in the loo.. would you eat your dinner in there?

Dont sit at the end of the table.. if you are sat between people their bodies wil cover everything you wont be exposing.. sitting at a table the baby will be practically out of sight anyway so either wear one of those waterfal cardigans you can just wrap the side the baby is feeding from around you and him and noone sees a thing.. or a pretty pashmina or something..

Failing that you think f**k everyone else.. you are feeding your baby as nature intended.

Noone ever says anything anyway.. once in 15 years of breatfeeding has anyone said anything to me.. Most restaurants that are not run by english people are fabuous if they notice you feeding.. I had one Italian waiter ask if I woud like him to cut up my dinner as I was feeding. Seriously.. dont even think about it.. if another customer has an issue the manage should move them!!!

I'd have burst into laughter if someone offered to cut up my dinner :rotfl: Nice thought though...

I did... then thanked him for his kind offer and when he went away I asked my mother to cut up my dinner lol

Nice to have you with us Mirror and pleased things seem to be going well xx

Lots of football here today. Watching Josh play in a match this morning, then coming home and watching Arsenal v Sunderland on TV. Going to St James Park later with a bucket to collect money for Josh's football club when their match finishes.

Have a good day all xx
Here I go again on my own....

Sorry i've not posted for agggeeessss!! I have been lurking though, but just been busy and sooo tired lol Hubby has been working a lot of late shifts lately-2pm-10pm and I wait up for him then by the time we get to bed it's near midnight. That and Max has started waking in the night again-I think it's hunger as he near enough drains an 8oz bottle-this is as well as having 3 'proper' meals a day and 3 8oz bottles a day.
I had hoped to get to 6 months before starting on solids, but he just was not satisfied at all with just milk (and he was having none of the hungry baby milk lol awkward so an so lol) so he's been on solids for about 4 weeks now (he's 5 1/2 months now) and he's so much more settled.
He really only likes his milk when he's tired, but I do try and mix it in with his food where I can so he gets a bit more.
He's a good eater-he'll eat anything, with plain veg being his favourite (as I said to Dh the other day, when he was concerned about Max's love of veg lol that he doesn't know things like cake and chocolate exist yet, so of course he will like it lol) But his portions are about twice what ds 1 and ds2 were having at that age (some little pots that I had for ds 2 used to hold 1 portion for him, but I have to use 2 for max lol) and the little gutso ate a whole weetabix for breakfast this morning-at least it uses a lot of milk in it lol
He's now rolling all over the place, and bouncing like a mad thing in his jumperoo (the best £20 i've ever spent lol)
Anyway, I can here his feet banging the side of the cot, so i'm guessing he's awake, and will no doubt be after some lunch lol.........crikey, i'm going to be eaten out of house and home with 3 boys aren't I???!!! lol
anyway, I promise to make more of an effort to post more often from now on (much easier as ds 2 is now doing his whole days at school-yay!:j lol) x
  • Oh and Winnie something I used to do when feeding in public was to wear a vest top under my top and pull the vest top down and the 'outer' top up so that my tummy was still covered, and I felt a lot more compfortable as I wasn't revealing anything. But as others have said, you are just feeding your baby, so try not to get self concious about it-I doubt anyone else will even notice!!
  • afternoon all, am quite tired today after samuel decided he would like to stay up all night and play, he woke up around about half twleve and stayed up until half five. although he did have a couple of ten mins nap in between. i dont mind though it means i had lots of play and cuddles.
although this means he was feeding lots and now my nipples are really sore any tips for making it easier

hope evryone has a good day

Max does sound like a hungry little boy! Been weaning Poppy for a few weeks and she still barely eats anything.

Mirror- is very tiring when they want to stay up and play all night ! Have you used lansinoh (or however you spell it). I found that to be the best for sore nipples, it does get a lot less painful though after a couple of weeks.
