Re: Smoking, I think the guidelines on that have changed and it's meant to be either 30 minutes or an hour and hand washing after a cigarette before touching a baby.... if those are being followed then it's unlikely the smoking is making the baby sick. I'm afraid you'll just have to bite the bullet and tackle the relative in question about the smoking.
Thanks for that - think I'm going to insist on handwashing and fresh clothing before my mum pops round. It's either that or not seeing her granddaughter. It's bloomin annoying as I have to deal with all the fallout - but anything for my little squeaker!£5k+ since Jul 2008.0 -
Morning
Hope you get things sorted out Miner.
Off to work this morning and taking Charlotte to get some new trousers and pyjama's. She's grown quickly and all her trousers are ankle flappers now
Have a good day all xxHere I go again on my own....0 -
Good luck with the shopping Becles!
For the last week or so poppy has been waking at around11, 2 and 5.Last night there was no 5 waking , had a look in the cot and she was on her belly with her arm hanging out the cot hehe. Must be more comfy!0 -
We have a problem with my mother who is the only person who smokes who regularly comes into contact with our LO. Guarantee within one hour, the baby will be sick even if she hasn't been fed for hours. I'm going to have to stop her seeing the baby at this rate
Anyone else experienced this?
Mine gets wheezy after being around smokers..
It is recommended the smoker does not hold the baby for an hour after their last one as it clings to hair and clothes and skin.. handwashing etc should be done as standard before anyone holds a tiny newborn.
Does she wiggle her about more than she is used to? This is more likely to make her sicky TBH.. OHs sister bounces them about like they are jumping beans then moans when they barf on her.. my reply.. I would be sick on you too after all that jiggling..
Todays BIG news....
SQUEAK IS WALKING!!!!!!!!!!
She has been doing a few steps but is off today and only crawled when she was making a break for the door and crawling is faster lol.
I discovered putting her in dresses for a couple of days so she couldnt crawl got her on her feet.. she has loads of dresses she hasnt been able to wear while crawling but now can!
Next job for her is to cut the remaining 14 teeth she has had just 6 since July!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Congratulations Squeak on the walking!
Having to put Poppy in less dresses now she is nearly crawling, they definately are not practical for crawlers!0 -
Hi everyone!
Hope you don't mind me joining the thread? I'm just graduating from the pregnancy thread with DS2 who is a week old today
I was hoping to get some tips on breastfeeding while out and about. I'm feeding on demand and its my birthday tomorrow and my mum has booked a table at a fairly posh restaurant which is very open plan so no discreet tables in the corner and I don't want to have to take him to the loo to feed him. Anyone have any advice on discreet feeding?
TIA, Win

Hi Win and welcome!
I find the best thing to do is just put a muslin over the top, I sometimes tuck it in too my bra strap to stop her pulling it off. A lot of the time people think you are just cuddling them and don't even notice. I have fed Poppy in cafes/restaurants a few times and not had any problems :-)0 -
Anyoneout there with older children experience this with their 9 month old. How did you cope? Our lo was up for 2 periods of 2 hours last night and it's not the first time. We need some sleep. Help! Does it really just disappear.

congratulations on squeak walking pigpen!!! yaaay!
winnie in pooh, although i am yet to have my baby, my friend wore a lovely scarf when she went out and draped it down to cover the baby as she was feeding, i thought it was a really good idea, so have stocked up on long scarves from primarni. HTH0 -
Yay for walking squeak.
Nice to meet you Winnie and congrats. Definitely take something to drape or wear a floaty top and most importantly, relax and don't worry about it. The more tense you are, the harder it is to do.
I breast fed Charlotte at a circular table at a wedding where I didn't really know any of the other guests, and nobody realised what I was doing
Here I go again on my own....0
