Ewwww you guys are freaking me out with your injected beef stories _pale_ thank god the growth hormones have come on since then... although surely eventually they'd have realised it's easier to have very small people than to keep infecting children with a very nasty fatal disease if it hadn't changed
I had a (sort of) cousin who had injections to stop him growing, he is about 7ft tall or not far off even with the injections. He has to bend down to get through my nan's conservatory door. Haven't seen him for years, funny when something else reminds you of someone from long ago lol.
Sparkle you're lucky. Soon you'll be sick of me ranting about it too don't worry
Slow cooker stew tonight, went to the market yesterday and because it was grey and chilly, they'd had a slow day and I was there on the way to school pick up later in the day so their £1 a bowl fruit and veg was very generous, and because I bought loads they threw in some extra bits
then I thought ooooh the meat man is here and got 2lbs of stewing steak
should do us a couple of days though, well, me OH Squeak and DD1 because the twins won't even look at stew lol.
Was thinking about getting the frozen gooseberries from the departed neighbours out to do crumble but we've only just finished the rhubarb crumble from the other day and I don't want OH to get too used to having HM cooked puddings all the time
although he did ask for the last one and even grew the rhubarb himself so shouldn't moan too much.
Becles my DD1 is like that, she says all sorts of things in her sleep, she sits up and talks to OH if he has to switch her light off, he says she talks a load of nonsense, and I've heard her telling her friend off from outside the bedroom door before
Poorly Squeak still here, she's really not with it bless her. She's not eating as much as usual but she is drinking gallons of milk, I seem to vaguely remember being told by a doctor when DD1 was poorly at the same age that that's ok so I'm not forcing the issue.
PP your KH still needs his head examining. It's very childish of him to not take their needs into account.
My kitten won't leave me alone, and it still tries to get in the dryer even though it had a lucky escape the other day when I hadn't noticed and put it on, it's lucky to be alive  and when it's not trying to get into any confined space it can find it's climbing all over me... and beginning to get chubby - I hope they weren't wrong about it being a boy - we really don't need kittens :eek:Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession

AND.. Dot went to sleep and Squeak woke up and ate half my lunch!!!!
OH... are you all sitting??????......... OH cleaned the oven.. the OH who cant put the vacuum round or take his pots away or put his laundry in the basket... then mentioned his mother is after inflicting herself on us.. on Friday! and he was after offering to drive her home.. and stay overnight before driving back next day...... yes no worries.. if you take at least 4 children with you
The postman apparently put a parcel in my recycle bin yesterday when he delivered the post at 3pm.. but instead of red cading us he scrawled a barely legible note on the front of a piece of junk mail i didnt have time to look at last night.. today was binday and the recycle bins are emptied at 7:30.... I think it was one of 2 packages.. 1 was clothes for squeak from someone on here and the other was £47 worth of bras from bravissimo... I kind of hope it was the latter.. complaint going in now...LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
That's so annoying pigpen! Similar happened to my Dad but they put the parcel in the bin which was on the end of the drive awaiting collection?! The binmen had been by the time he got in, so he had to complain and have his parcel sent again.
Got loads of work done but I'm shattered now!
Charlotte asked me if I was getting old. I said "yes I'm getting on a bit now" and she said "eeeehhhh it'll not be long until you're really old and fat like my Granny" :rotfl: Good job Granny wasn't here
Here I go again on my own....0 -
Just lost my post .
Sorry that babies, mothers and in-laws aren't behaving. Hopefully we'll all have a great night's sleep tonight.
My baby started waving goodbye when you wave at her tonight
. Then she refused to go to sleep and we had to let her cry in her cot for the first time ever
.
I've been looking for a first birthday cake for her with Oliver from Baby TV on it. I can't find one, so I'm planning on getting a picture of him in icing and baking her birthday cake and putting it on top.
For those not in the know, this is Oliver...
ahh he is cute - my MIL hates me it is offical - she told Oh the other day that I am a superior mother :rotfl: lol no surprise to me - I'm just surprised she dropped the act in front of OH who naturally thinks/thought his ma is a modern day saint - I think its either because I didn't want to use bongela on horribly teething LO or because after asking her to give ds2 diluted orange juice too many times I took orange juice she poured for ds2 and tipped half out and added water. However it could be MANY other parenting decisions I make that she doesn't think she has to go along with/agree to.argh... grumpy clingy projectile vomitting baby, hormonal 12 y/o male with fluctuating blood sugar (goes from shrieking squealing nitwit to sobbing wreck in 1 second) 8 y/o crying her legs and back hurts because KH let her wear trainers all weekend.. to55er.. 10y/o with hormone fairy encounter, large baby food flinging.. but she loads the washer now..
...
Can I have a pee in peace????????
Of course not... Squeak comes in... the cat comes in.. and someone knocks on the door....
SOD OFF FOR 5 MINUTES ALL OF YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love bed time!!!!!!!!!!!
PP after a few weeks of irritatingly early mornings (ds2! 6am ) you just know how to make me feel better
.I am pretty ok with it.. cant change it so we are learning to deal with it.. so long as KH bucks his ideas up DS will be fine...
this might seem a daft question but.. his levels are supposed to be 4-9 .. so what level is too low at bed time.. obviously this has to see him through the night..
2 of mine are on growth hormone.. in the 70s it was bovine growth hormone.. almost every child develped CJD and is now dead... horrible thought!! (obviously growth hormone is from elsewhere in the cow so the risks are different to bovine insulin)
I~ had gestational diabetes and found blood sugars hardly dropped at all over night - 7-9 hrs sleep and less than .2 down sometimes!!
I am a very heaVY sleeper lol.MSE PARENT CLUB MEMBER.ds1 nov 1997ds2 nov 2007:jFirst DDFirst DD born in june:beer:.0 -
Evening x
Bob will be having his 1 year check soon, dont think he will tick anything on their list he is so slow, he still isnt crawling properly, seems perfectly happy to drag himself about. Makes no noise expect the piercing scream and very occasional dada. About the only thing he does do is clap. I'm not worried he'll get there eventually in his own time just hope its a nice lady doing it.0 -
DD3 wasnt sitting at a year old.. she wasnt having food until 11.5 months, she was 100% breastfed. She didnt even support her own head for more than about 10 seconds until she was 11 months.. she crawled the week after her firs birthday and started walking at 14 months.. they all catch up evenually!
I didnt even take them for these stupid development checks.. they dont allow for individuality or lazy babies.. and in the reter majority of cases (about 95%!) the parents are the first to pick up that something is not quite right so if you say he is ok.. the chances are that he is!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
The only thing I'd be concerned about is his speech because DD had a speech delay and he says even less than her, but I'm sure it'll be the same development delay she had, they are so similar. HV wont take any notice of that though just yet I doubt, I took DD to them at 2 years and said it wasnt right and they didnt listen to me then either, had to wait till she went to preschool for a referral. DD didnt walk till 15 months either, roughly when DS was born but she was pulling herself up earlier and cruising. I think Bob gets everything brought to him though - he has 4 people waiting on him hand and foot so he has had little need to move about yet.0
-
Exactly.. and if you anticipate his needs he doesnt need to talk either!
Squeak isnt walking yet at 14 months.. she is huge and just looks silly crawling about like an enormous baby.
DS2 didnt speak at all and had SALT at 3.5 for 2 years, his speech is still not 100% but he has dyspraxia which affects his muscles and movement. DD4 didnt talk either until the week before her 3rd birthday.. she had spent the day in nursery as we were moving house and when she came home she was chatting and singing and blabbering on.. the others have never known when to shut up!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Hi
Just tought I'd pop in, I'm not quite there yet am expecting my first baby in 5 weeks, but have just read this thread from start to finish, and have learnt more from here than I have off anyone in RL or from any MW or book, so thank you.
Am starting to think more about the birth and don't really know what to go for, has anyone had a waterbirth and was it any good? As I have the choice of going to a MWLU with lots of birthing pools but no drugs or to the main delivery suite. Now I think, I'd like a water birth, but if I cant get on with it id like an epidural as im not the best with pain, hold my breath which wont be a good thing, so want to make it as easy as possible, but the MWLU is meant to be more relaxed and chilled out. Anyone got any advice or tips? This is all hyperthetical at the moment as baby is breech or was at last MW appt, Im pretty sure he still is due to how uncomfortable my ribs are!0 -
hi Missymoo. Sorry I can't answer your questions. All of mine were bog standard labours in hosptial as they were all slightly prem (two at 37 weeks and one at 36 weeks!)
I agree with the development and just letting them go at their own pace rather than getting worried over targets and stuff. There was a huge difference between Charlotte and James. He walked at 9 months, she didn't even sit up until 11 months! She talked very early but he said barely a word until he was 3. By the time they went to school though, they could do everything they were supposed to be doing, so they got there in the end.
Been standing in a field in the drizzle watching rugby tonight. James was playing for the school team. I've never really watched it before, but I sort of got the hang of it by the end and I enjoyed it.Here I go again on my own....0
