Hi Puzzled,
My midwife said to use olive oil for the dry skin, it seemed to clear up after a couple of weeks anyway.
Poppy has never been a sleepy baby (apart from the first couple of days) but a lot of babies spend their first few weeks asleep. Appreciate it while you can get stuff done hehe. It won't be long till she is awake most the day.0 -
It's normal for them to sleep a lot at first. They just seem to wake for short periods, eat, poo and go back to sleep!
They don't like nappy changes at first as they're used to being all warm and comfy in the womb, then all warm and cosy in a baby gro, and then you come along and open the baby gro and cooler air hits their bits. It must come as a bit of a shock!
The teacher is impressed with Charlotte. They got some flash cards out to start teaching the children how to read, so Charlotte read them all
She's a bright little thing.
Took her to get her hair cut at my hairdressers today so she was thrilled about that as she sat in the proper chair on a cushion and she had hair straighteners on it
Here I go again on my own....0 -
Hi all, can relate re grumpy nappy changes... he doesn't mind them now. However we worked out very early on never to change him before a feed, only mid or after. Now I always do after, in the day, as he tends to go just after feeding, then at night do a change midfeed.
Lately he has been sleeping 7pm-1 or 7pm-3, I feel bad changing him as it tends to wake him up more - what does everyone else do? We use disposies at night.

Sparkle, I didn't change Joe unless he had a dirty nappy. If you're using a decent 'sposie he'll be fine til morning if it's just wet.
Joe slept for most of the first few weeks - apart from at night! I don't think any of my friends saw him awake until he was a couple of months old.
And with nappy changes, Joe didn't like them at first, then tolerated them.... and now he's mobile he really doesn't like having to stay still for them! He's getting a bit easier to distract with funny faces or a book. And we've gone back to using the changing table most of the time as I think he realises he can't crawl off so will lie still for a bit longer.
Well, I've bitten the bullet and ordered a lightweight stroller. Our third buggy
I promised DH I'd sell enough stuff to make up the cash for it. I can get £50 for trading in my old mobile, so it's time for a clear out to see what else I can shift

Hello all :hello:
Nice to see more new people joining from the PG thread
Squeak has her duvet now  It's the one that come with the hungry caterpillar set from the Argos glitch in January lol so it's nice to have it off the top of the wardrobe!Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession

Has Squeak slept with her duvet yet, delain? How did she take to it? I'm wondering about getting one for Joe for when he turns 1 as he wriggles about so much in his sleeping bags that they either pop open at the shoulders and he escapes from them, or else the fabric is ripping around the poppers. I'm not sure if he'd still move around a lot though, and then I'd end up constantly having to go in and cover him up.You can do anything, make anything, dream anything. Hi ladies! I hope you're all doing well.
Thanks for your comments re-cranial osteopathy. DH is very sceptical but my view is that as long as it does no harm then I'm happy and it may even help.
Counting down the last few days before DH goes back to work. It'll be weird but I think I'll feel more of a mum when I'm on my own. Sounds silly I'm sure.
Re nappy changes, my little boy is already learning to accept it! He screams as soon as there is even the tiniest dribble in there so I think he's twigged that it needs to be done to stay dry and clean. I change him mid feed at night because I'm supposed to keep him upright for 1/2 hour after because of the reflux.
What did you all get your bubs for their first Christmas and how old were they?0 -
I only change Poppy now if she is dirty now which is hardly ever. She goes back to sleep so much quicker.
I think Poppy is a bit strange as she has never minded having her nappy changed hehe.
Is our first christmas here and she will be 8 months. So far have got her stacking cups and a wooden train and going to also get her a v tech walker.0 -

She didn't have a great night but then she wasn't feeling great I don't think.
None of my others had a problem when they first had them though
I think they wriggle a bit less, he might not feel as restricted as he probably does in a bag IYSWIM.
Well we got turned down for a 4 bed house because we've got too many children apparently
seems odd really, 2 to a room seems fine to me! Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession

Help please!!!
J was doing really well at nights and was sleeping through 8.30pm -5.30am , b/feed and then until about 8.30am. Fantastic stuff......but 16 weeks 3rd lot of injections then first tooth, week later 2nd tooth and nights are a nightmare (ha ha)!! It's his flipping dummy, he wakes up every time he loses it (or takes it out himself) and doesn't just grumble , he totally cries for it. The first part of the night is fine but as soon as it hits 1.30am that's when it starts. I can usually put it back once then and he is fine for an hour but from 2.30am I can be up every 15mins - 1/2hr resulting in us taking in bed beside us which is not really good and will cause a whole set of other probs.
He is still in our room as I am breastfeeding but he is really stopping feeding at nights now as we have reintroduced a dream feed but we are going to move him into his own room probably this weekend. I want the dummy gone tbh, he doesn't get it at all during the day (which i'm chuffed about, DD wasn't that easy she was over 2yrs old!!). Now what do I do though, do we get him settled in his own room first then try and wean him off his dummy or try and wean him off his dummy starting today/tonight and give him a day or 2 before moving him?? Also what is the best way of stopping his dummy at night....cold turkey??
ETA: he is 20 weeks now if that makes any difference"That's no reason to cry. One cries because one is sad. For example, I cry because others are stupid, and that makes me sad."0
