CL Don't do jars but could you not just give lo real food as Spain prob great for little dishes of tapas? Could take some organix rice cakes as a back up, t loves those.

I'm the same, I've never bought a jar, but DH is worried about what she will eat. We are staying in self catering apartments, but weren't planning on cooking. I had thought about bring Weetabix, formula and some pasta and a stir through sauce. That will do for the first day anyway. I'm sure she'll be fine as she's a great eater, but DH is worried she'll get Spanish Tummy!

    Welcome Claireloo

Doglover, my cat was our baby last year. She's still put out playing second fiddle over 7 months later :)

Pigpen, can I pick up on your comment about your lot not liking water. I can't get my LO to have any. I know its boring, but last week we had a nasty constipation episode with blood streaked poo. I don't want to give fruit juice even though she hasn't got any teeth to rot yet.

Make it three we're lucky with our dog, he's really taken to the babe and is being very protective. Bless. He let's us know if A is crying (like we don't know!), sits by his basket when it's downstairs and when we walk he hangs close. It's sweet thinking they'll grow up together.

Hi Claireloo great to see you here! I'm jealous of how settled Leo sounds to be! Pleased for you though

Regarding discussion on sweets - my two dont really get them at all except for a treat which is probably why we still have 2 Easter eggs left (they had 5 each)... does that make me a bad mum taht its September and we have them left?

I just threw a Christmas gift bag out at the beginning of August, which ended up as a mix of Christmas, Easter and Charlotte's birthday (May) sweets :o

Lovely to have you with us Clarieloo. Ask as many questions as you need to.

Dogs and babies/toddlers get on great. I've always had both and as long as the dog knows it's place and the baby is taught how to play nice with the dog, they should get along well.

Here's Charlotte walking mine when she was 3 :D

If anyone is interested in the benefits of getting outside and what it can do for mental health, have a read of some of the reports on this site if you've got time:

I found it really interesting and I've been spending more time outdoors since and feel better for it.
Here I go again on my own....

My heath visitor told me that with DD1 and it did make me feel a lot better... she said to leave the house evry single day, even if you're just going for a walk, or to the park and it really did help me.

Sadly when I had the twins I couldn't go out on my own with all of them and ended up spending weeks at a time indoors, KH would very rarely watch them (and if one pooed he'd leave it till I got home) and I really did feel quite trapped, it was horrible :(

Manic day today, accompanied by howling wind and pouring rain... I am glad to be home in my PJ's!

Hi - well he's only 11 days old so I am prepared for all sorts of trouble to begin. We do struggle to get him to settle of an evening - he just doesn't want to go to sleep from around 5pm to 9pm but this was the time he used to go crazy kicking me from inside so maybe thats just his wide awake time. I don't know if what we're doing is "right" - we just feed him when he seems hungry or failing that try changing him. I don't know when I need to be thinking about routine - everyone seems to have different advice and perspectives on this. My instinct tells me he's too little at the moment. We'll both get there I'm sure xx

Morning all, just a quick post as should be working really. Hello to all the newer mums/ members

PP hope DD feels better soon and you can get medicine sorted.

Regarding discussion on sweets - my two dont really get them at all except for a treat which is probably why we still have 2 Easter eggs left (they had 5 each)... does that make me a bad mum taht its September and we have them left?

I'd have to compete with you on that one as about a month after easter I forgot we had any choc left and found it a few months later - reasoned that lo hadn't missed it (and was being very well catered for in that dept by my grandmother who does regular family sized choccy drop offs) so decided we'd dispose of it it to stop it going off. :D.

There's no need to rush a routine Claire especially if he's your first (I seem to recall he is but might be wrong!) if in doubt - bum change and feed. You'll find before long he'll drop into his own routine and you'll start to gradually know when he'll want to be asleep or awake. All they do say is at night feeds keep lights etc to a minimum, and don't change bum unless very wet or dirty, and keep it restful :)

That's my take on it anyway, probably not helping either but you just have to do what feels right for you :)

Claireloo - I don't think there is a right or wrong way to do things , just do what is right for you.

I havent been out in months.. other than various appointments.. and now just thinking about going out makes me tired.

tomorrow however we need to take the car to get the wheel/tyre sorted.. it appears to have a slow puncture or a leaky valve or something and keeps going flat.. OH is taking Squeak to a party on Saturday so we need to know it is ok for motorway driving! We then need to go buy a birthday present for said birthday child.. return some stuff to Argos, take the cat to vet IF I can get her an apointment and do the school runs... I think I need a wheelchair lol

OHs mum has offered to come say for a few days when Dot is born... He said he would like her help.. I find it incredibly stressful having someone at the house.. and I cannot abide the fact someone else MIGHT fold my laundry.. I know I am being unreasonable.. though she did demand to know when the baby was arriving.. and refused to accept these things happen in their own sweet time!!!

Schoooooooool tomorrow for the whole lot.. and I CANNOTwait... I am so excited I am just not going to sleep tonight I just know it!
