Hello there - hope you don't mind me asking for another bit of advice. I was on the pregnancy thread last year and found great advice and support there - am hoping that now LO is going to sleep at a reasonable time I should be able to be more involved in discussions etc :)

Anyway, I've been back at work for about 3 months now, working 4 days a week. A lot of my baby friends are heading back to work now, either full-time or having different days off to me. I'm hoping to keep in touch with them as much as possible over weekends etc but wondered if anyone had any advice on how to meet more people with children LO's age? I've tried a couple of playgroups, but people didn't seem overly friendly (perhaps just because they're in established friendships if they've been going to the groups for a while). I don't mind it just being me and LO on our days off, just thought it would be good for him (and me) to find other people to hang out with.

    Thanks

She wanted £40, but I asked her is she would take £20 and she said £30, but I told her £20 was all I had lol I would have paid £30 though-it's in great condition-really clean and all the noise bits work!
Although can I ask if you can adjust the height of the seat bit?? or when baby is in it does their weight pull it down??

    Fabulous!

There are 3 heights.. if you look on the green straps they are numbered.. you basically unhook the straps from the metal pin pull it through and clip it back on again.. takes seconds!

Their weight does pull it down a little too.. Squeak got her at almost 5 months but some had them in use from about 3 months.. basically from when they could hold their head up!

Girls room is now empty apart from 3 beds, 3 chests of drawers and an empty wardrobe! That plasterer better turn up tomorrow after the work I've put in there this weekend.. I am fit to drop!

Got rid of loads and loads and loads though which I am delighted about.. I have filled my recycling bin with torn books.. some we have had for almost 20 years so I've had my money's worth from them! Must get another bookcase though and I need to sort somewhere more sensible for bedding and towels to be kept.. that room is enormous!! ..

Best get myself off to shop for bread and milk.. ooh.. can I even carry the milk???? There's a thought.. suppose it won't carry itself.. and I can't remember where my old lady trolley is.... :(

For you ladies with older ones, is it normal to get to around six months and feeling absolutely shattered with this parenting lark?

I still don't feel recovered from the pregnancy/birth, can't remember what a full night's sleep is like but mostly just drained from trying to keep LO entertained throughout the day. I look forward to the weekends but having OH around doesn't seem to make things any better. He won't get up early so the day begins with playing with her from around 6 am. Then it just feels like I am watching the clock all day for when I can next put her down for a nap. She is pretty good with her naps, but still the days feel soooo long and each is the same.

After the fantastic reviews on here for the jumperoo I was so looking forward to picking up mine, but she actually seems upset it in (maybe cos she's small for her age - she can barely reach the toys and she mostly cries or chews the seat). Going out to do stuff is just stressful (she cries so much) and staying in even more so. Just feel I'm sinking.

One bright spot this weekend, our rescue cat has been shortlisted in the Battersea Pets Photo Competition - any pet lovers here want to vote for our cat to win, please vote Diya on the following facebook link: http://www.facebook.com/Battersea?sk=app_212228392152549

How are you feeling in yourself? Tired? fed up? lacking energy? weepy? unappreciated? could it be possible you have a little postnatal depression? Could you discuss this with your GP or OH?

Squeak hated the pushchair as well.. until we faced her forwards and sat her upright so she could see the whole world.. now we can go out.. or we could if I could walk further than the end of the street! She also screamed the entire time she was in the small car seat (not helped that we had to squeeze her in it with a shoe horn and tip it up to get her out!!!).. now she can see out of the windows while driving she is a happy chicken!

You've got it in a nutshell. Can you get PND so long after the event? Maybe I just have PMT instead!

up to 2 years after the birth it can be diagnosed.. My niece was about 10 months when I finally persuaded my sister to see the GP.

You could have PMT as well!

My eldest is 14 and I still feel like that sometimes :o:rotfl:

Parenting is a really tough job and they can be so demanding at times. Definitely need to factor some "me time" into your schedule and just chill out and relax. Even if it's just a sneaky 15 mins curled up reading a book by yourself or something, it really does help.

Off to my parents this morning to see my Dad as it's his birthday today. Got a few jobs to do for work afterwards, then I'm determined to clear my big "to do" list this week, so I'll crack on with that.

Got to take Josh to the opticians after school as one of the teachers noticed he seems to have a lazy eye. He's teases me rottern for wearing glasses, so I'll wet myself laughing if he has to have some :o:rotfl:

Have a good day all xx
Here I go again on my own....

Morning! Much lazier start to the day, as DH thankfully let me have a nice lie-in. Just sorting breakfast, then a shower, THEN can crack on with the day's tasks. Might put the washing on in a minute, though, so that can be ready to go out when I am :). Not going to be as crazy cleaning as yesterday, today's tasks are just regular cleaning jobbies like the bathroom, hoovering & baking for the week. Going to do savoury courgette & cheese muffins, I think.

Aless, we have some courgettes coming through, where did you get the recipe from ?

    Afternoon all,

    Hope everyone is ok today.

Had a much better night with her sleeping 6 hours before waking and then went back down for a while after. FC it continues and the last few days was a phase.

Yay for sleep Wendz :T it makes such a difference!

I must admit Squeak and I did sneak back to bed for a couple of hours this morning. OH just rang to say he's working round the corner, stopping for lunch and bring Squeak to say hello, so I'll try and make myself look less sleepy in a mo :o Fortunately she's having her lunch so we can't leave right now.
