    Morning all x

Big bird I'd like to tell you yes it does but it'd be a lie. My younger 2 were fine with travelling till they hit around 2 then DS developed travel sickness, luckily he would only be sick once we stopped but you could expect a full day of sickness once you got there too (tbf to him we had a portable dvd player in the car which once removed the sickness improved greatly). When we started potty training DD she was a nightmare - always leaving it till the last minute even just waiting 2 miles to the next parking was too much so she spent many a trip sat on a cushion inside a carrier bag and a few towels on top. They are actually much better now they are 5 and 6 so eventually it gets better. With Bob we left at 3am so he was moved from cot to car seat, drove the whole 4 hours and got there at 7am for his breakfast - the last half hour was a bit noisey but no point stopping by then just got to get there. Now he is a bit older hopefully he'll play a bit in the car - he doesnt sleep in it much so we will see. Driving to liverpool next thursday and it'll be during the day but no hurry so can stop off loads.

Thanks for the comments on travelling. Looks like we're going to have a rough old time of it for a few years :( Joe is definitely a mover, he never sits still for long, so I can understand why he dislikes being stuck in his car seat for so long. I sat in the back with him for over half the journey back with a selection of toys that I switched around whenever he started to get bored with one, and pulled lots of faces (my singing tends to make him cry :o so I didn't try that one)

Setting off very early might be a good idea, I hadn't thought of that. Then we wouldn't be trying to get him to go to bed when we got there, when what he wants to be doing is moving around after being sat for so long.

I'd heard that those in-car dvd players can cause travel sickness so I think we'll steer clear. I find if I read anything whilst in the car (as a passenger, obviously!) it makes me travel sick. Even a map - any more than a minute or so looking at one and I'll feel ill. So I can imagine looking at a screen probably has the same effect.

Yep, he hadnt shown any signs before we got it and since we did alot of long journeys to visit family thought it was a good idea but it wasnt. If he feels queasy now we get him to look out the window loads and play eye spy etc and its fine, when he hit 3 he had travel sickness tabs for a while, but he is only 5 now and doesnt seem to need them anymore, so long as he looks out the window. It took a while for us to realise what it was as well, the first couple of times we put it down to him picking up a bug, but it was soon obvious it was every time we drove down.

Afternoon all, haven't posted much as spend most of my day moving Thomas back from things and stopping him from climbing on everything.

BB travelling is hard, we found that with a similar journey last weekend - think we did about 3 stops each way and t had a breakdown on way home! We are looking at getting train next time as then at least we can move about.

Was another baby's bday today at group and there was cake, but mine got snatched out of my hand by a certain son of mine (joys of blw!)

I never used to get car sick - then we had Finn so I sit in the back on long trips so he doesn't fuss. Turns out my husband's driving make one car sick :p:p.

    Morning

Parents have gone away for a short holiday at my brothers house, so I've got Charlotte at home in the mornings for the rest of the week.

Popping to Tesco this morning as we need groceries and she's excited about that as she loves food shopping.

Have a good day all xx
Here I go again on my own....

((Hugs)) Becles. I didn't realise there was domestic violence involved. Hope you're OK.

Nursery phoned yesterday to book Joe in for some settling in sessions (he'll be going on Mondays from September). They asked if I thought he'd have problems settling in. Since he barely notices me leave when I drop him at the childminder, I'm pretty sure he won't bat an eyelid! :)

I need to sort out a safety gate for the top of the stairs, but am not sure what to get. It'll have to be attached to the banister on one side so a pressure fit one is out as it's a curved surface. There are holes in the banister where the previous owners had one attached, I wish I knew what sort they had so I can use the same holes instead of having to drill more. The screw in ones also seem to need the walls to be flat on either side, whereas the banister is shaped so the top connector will be slightly further back than the bottom one, and on the other side there's a skirting board at the bottom of the wall. Can anybody recommend anything that might fit?

ah beccles I hope today goes ok, I'd not realised dv was involved either. ps mine get way too over excited at the thought of a food shop too and they are a bit older than charlotte, seriously you'd think I was starving them.

big bird sorry havent a clue, we had a screww in one and it proper wrecked the wall, only ever had one dowstairs in our last house and I'm not getting any for Bob. Its all open plan so would need one of the massive ones that come out a bit so he could be in the lounge but see me in the kitchen, I'm gonna stick to chasing him around and if it really gets too much chuck him in a travel cot with some toys, like a playpen. He's a lazy bones though, there is one boy at baby group who is proper crazy and into everything and I could see the need to make their house safe.

I have 2 safety gates and did have even before Squeak arrived :o

I had a lindam screw in one which was quite good, now I've got 2 pressure ones.

Feeling very very strange indeed. Rang the docs and spoke to the duty doctor who quite clearly thought I was going mad. lol. And she told me not to rush about, which made me giggle. I'll have to tell the kids we'll have to wait till 4.20 for a bus home all week because I'm not meant to rush for the 3.20 :rotfl:

Have got an appointment for my GP on friday. Means I will have to arrange Squeaks eye appointment to be changed but never mind.

Becles I hope it gets easier soon. I had a dv liason worker once, to be honest she just got on my nerves. I hope yours is better!

Squeak decided to wake up when I was cleaning the bathroom, typically. I might see if I can sneak off and just mop the floor in a minute because that's all that's left to do. She did sleep through me falling out of the bath, over the mop bucket and hitting the adjoining wall though

Oh and she gave me a big noisy kiss this morning instead of just blowing kisses :D It was lovely, would have been much much nicer was she not covered in dribble from blowing raspberries but there we go :o
