Definitely worth getting a present box and picking up odds and ends of toys that you see cheap when you are out and about ;) And you can always recycle duplicate/unwanted gifts from any parties that you host making sure they don't go back to the sender of course ;)

Funny enough Becles I was thinking about that. I did get a load of books when that offer was on but they are runny down now. I have also seen some bits in M&S and Argos in their sales...(bit cheeky the girls party on Saturday managed to get something dirt cheap in The Range!!)

Guess it will be even harder with 2 boys!!!

My three don't get invited to many parties so we don't have so much of a problem, I think a lot of children don't know how to take the twins sometimes, and the parents are really cliquey so they miss out because my face doesn't fit, which is sort of sad.

DD1 has an August birthday so you can send out invites in the last week of term to 25 kids from school plus all the kids from where we live, this is what we did last year, two children came from school and none of the others even responded to the invitation, except one who said they were on holiday that week :( although most of the kids from here came, which was lovely but out of almost 40 invites only about ten kids came.

Probably a good job though because the disco lady was pants and that was when the issues got bad and I ended up spending that night and the morning of her birthday in A&E so she must have had a pretty crap birthday, and she didn't moan at all :o I want to make sure she has a great birthday this year, last year bless her she waited for me to get home before having her presents despite me telling her on the phone she could do them before!

I am not sure about what to get her though... It's a minefield. I have got her loads of books because she likes to read, OH is finally going to do her bedroom this week (he's even taken two days off work) so the dreaded tv/dvd can go up there so that will make her happy at least. Might have a look for some cheap DVD's on Amazon for her. Does anyone have any ideas? I'm normally completely sorted and on to Christmas by this point but so disorganised this year.

Squeak keeps waking up and grumbling at night... and only getting in the big bed will do! I can't wait until after her birthday (one whole week after DD1's lol) so we can try her little duvet set, I think that might be what she likes about our bed. That and the fact that OH is a human radiator!

Squeak is not getting loads for her birthday, the family will spoil her anyway and it's more for the others benefit than hers, she won't have a clue whats going on apart from being happy to see cake!

Joe has started waking up at night too, usually around 10pm. We had a night out on Saturday (our 2nd since Joe was born!) and he led the babysitter a merry dance from 10 o'clock. We got back at 11 and even though he was obviously really tired it took us over an hour to get him back to sleep. It probably didn't help that when my friend couldn't get him back to sleep in the first place, she took him downstairs - we never do that, once he's upstairs for bed that's it til morning. So he was probably confused by that. Last night I managed to get him back to sleep within about 10 mins without getting him out of the cot. He woke again at 1am and 2am but settled himself again. Hopefully it's just teeth that are making him unsettled and he'll be back to sleeping through soon.

I was fuming with DH on Saturday. I do the weekly shop on a Saturday morning while he watches Joe. Joe was having his nap by the time I got back. I got him up when he woke around 11 and he was absolutely soaked - through his pyjamas, sleeping bag, and into the mattress  I undressed him to find him still in a Pampers disposable from the night before. DH "forgot" to change him that morning  So Joe ended up with a p**s soaked mattress and nappy rash  And I'm especially p**sed off as this comes just a couple of weeks after DH "forgot" to feed him one afternoon.

Just typical that it's now going to rain for days so I can't wash the mattress cover as I won't be able to get it dry indoors before bedtime. Maybe a spare mattress cover would be a good idea - although just remembering to change his nappy would be cheaper!

Ooooh there's a Vtech walker in the cupboard from my friend who's LO is now 3... Must get that out!

Also must go through the loft, I seem to recall putting loads of baby/toddler toys up there about 2 years ago, including that dog thing that is still £40 in elc and the other vtech bus

Shame no one is local, there's two of those so there's a spare one going!

Are the Vtech walkers good? I was wondering about getting Joe one for his birthday too.

He also seems to not like chocolate. I gave him a jar of Hipp cocoa and vanilla dessert and he just pulled his face and spat it out. I tried it and thought it was lush :p Oh well, it just means more chocolate for me if I don't have to share ;)
