Worst night ever last night. 2 hours sleep. Am so tired and miserable.
What's worse is I just don't know why she wouldn't sleep. She cried from midnight to 3am (by which time i caved and brought her into bed with me and she feel asleep on my boob). Put her back in cot and she woke again at 5am crying till about 7.
Family are bringing up the weaning card again. Not sure what to do. She's 5 months now, can't sit up still without support, she's watching me eat and she did grab some food, but I don't think in an act to eat it. I want to do BLW and feel it's too early.
On a positive note we viewed the second nursery today. It is £55 a day compared to £72 for the other one. It has a completely different view on how a nursery should be.
The first one (£72) was- very much achievement and goal based,
- lots of paperwork,
- big (it's an old school),
- asks to provide your own nappies and wipes,
- includes homecooked food
- had fishtanks that IMO needed a good clean
- had other animals (guinea pigs, hamsters etc) for the pre-school children to look after
- Had great outside facilities
- After seeing nursery no. 2 I now realise the room with babies was soooooo quiet. Seems odd now I think about it.
- They had a soft play room
- They had separate glass room with cots (each child has their own bedding)
- Not so goal based. More about having fun learning.
- Anti-paperwork. They have a book that they put drawings and photos in for you to keep with a term time report at the end.
- Seemed quite small, but I think the one above was exceptionally large.
- Provides nappies and wipes but also happy to use my washables.
- homecooked food
- Had guinea pigs and rabbits outside
- Fantastic outside area and they go outside whatever the weather (the one above mentioned staying inside if it was raining which I thought was odd).
- They take the children to the forest once a week for outdoor play/learning
- Seemed a lot more noisy but the kids were having fun
- Cot room not as good as above, but did the job, was curtained off, dark. Children get their own bedding.

Becles (plus any others) I have to get a present for a 4 year old girl and have some of the Kipper books from the glitch ages ago - do you think they are ok or too young?
TIA.x
I think it would depend on the girl. Charlotte would find them a bit young, but I read with her every day. If the girl hasn't really had much to do with books, they would probably be ok. Sorry that's not very helpful is it
She loves fancy hair stuff and jewellery and you can pick bits up cheaply in Asda
That second nursery sounds better to me Giz. It just sounds more homely to me. They don't really need goals and nursery age and learn better through playing and exploring in their own time.
Busy day and I'm shattered again. We've had some heavy rain off and on and I forgot to take a jacket so I kept getting wet
Just having a quick sit down, then got to take one to karate and then go and pick the other ones girlfriend up and bring her back here as the buses are rubbish on an evening. Here I go again on my own....0 -
Thanks about the food. I just need to figure out how to balance making sure he doesn't go hungry (at an age too young to understand) with not being a pushover. For instance, tonight was a vegetable tart which I knew he wouldn't eat (and didn't), so in that case would you just give them the food and if they didn't eat a bite, still not offer anything else? I'm just struggling a bit, because I really don't want to spoil him but I know he wouldn't make the connection. And I DON'T want it to become an issue in the future, he's already bad enough with not even wanting to try one bite of something if it doesn't look like something he likes (I don't know WHERE this has come from, because we always gave a huge variety of stuff when he started weaning

I think it sounds like a nice nursery too giz but i'm not experienced! I should start to look for places really in case i get one of the jobs i've gone for!
alless I've got no idea but hugs. I tend to offer something else if he chucks it away as i don't like to think of it becoming a battle!
I have a massive to do list for tomorrow as we go on hols on sat v early. to be honest i would prefer not to go as it's a lot of driving (which i have to do!) and i don't want to upset L's sleep!Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0 -
Morning
I'd still just ignore the food refusing behaviour and carry on as if nothing has happened Aless. He might just be testing boundaries and food is one way they can do it. He'll eat when he's hungry, so don't worry about starving him. They also go through phases when they eat less than a sparrow and then phases when they eat like a horse, so I guess it all balances out in the end!
Not so busy today thank goodness! Just a couple of jobs to finish off, and some work from home to do.
Have a good day all xxHere I go again on my own....0 -
morning all,
becles. how are the neighbours now? hope they've found something else to chinwag about!
I am trying to get ready to go away here, i hate living in a mess, feel like we need to just get rid of a lot of stuff, hopefully if the move goes ahead it will be a good opportunity and we'll be able to sort some better storage! I have loads of washing hanging about but of course it's not drying super fast as the weather has cooled a bit. I'm just going to change our bed so it's clean for when we get back.
i'm also expecting a parcel from kiddicare which is due to arrive just when i want to take L to the library singing with sir m and t....do you think if i leave a note on the door they will leave it at the shop below? i really don't want to miss the singing if L is awake as all being well we'll have moved by the time it restarts in sept and i may well be working! It's a booster seat with tray so i do need it for going away!Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0 -
Oh I meant to comment about the food thing. I agree - I will be having zero tolerance on meal times. DD will have to eat what we eat and if she doesn't like it, tough
I will make small changes in a meal for example if someone prefers boiled potatoes over mash I'll keep some boiled aside and vice versa if someone prefers mash and we're having boiled I don't mind mashing some up....that sort of thing. But I'm not going to get in the habit of cooking separate meals. I'm a meany. But I was brought up that way. If I didn't like it then I'd go hungry if I didn't eat it.
DD had a much better night after eventually getting her to sleep at 9:30pm (usual bedtime 7). She woke just twice :j midnight and 3am. Both times she was on her tummy. I fed her both times too and she gulped the food down like she was starving. Not sure if her body clock was a bit out after yesterday.
At least I've had some decent sleep. We're going to Sonisphere tonight and hopefully I won't have to worry about falling asleep now

I don't see why not.

Are you going anywhere nice?
I wanted to go to centerparcs this year, but OH has shocked me and said he doesn't want to waste our money as I don't do any of the activities. I think he finds me boring
I just like going in the pool, but he wants to play tennis/badminton etc. I don't go on holiday to do sport! Baby Giz born 6/2/110 -
Where are you going on holiday Rach?
We're going up to visit my parents this weekend. It's a 4-5 hour drive, but DH is normally happy to do the whole thing
We're going to give Joe an early bathtime and set off around 6:30 so that he should sleep most of the way there. Then hopefully we can get him into bed at the other end without too much fuss. We'll do the same on Sunday, which means we'll be knackered on Monday after the long drive Sunday night, but I don't want to risk coming back earlier and having him sleep in the car and then be up all night.
This will only be the second time my Dad has seen Joe
Partly his own fault though as he hates travelling so hasn't come when my Mum has visited. I do wish we lived closer to my family so they could see more of Joe though. But I'd much rather Joe grows up where we live now than back where I grew up. I just need to persuade my family to all move down here!
Good to hear you had a better night and are feeling a bit better Giz. We're going to Center Parcs later this year and I can't wait! :j I've never been before. We won't be doing much in the way of activities either as we're going in a group with a load of babies but I don't see that as a reason not to go! I'm sure he can find someone to play badminton with, then you can go and enjoy yourself in the pool and spa
Joe is currently refusing to have his morning nap and screaming blue murder next door. He obviously knows I have packing to get on with, and a Tesco online order to do for Monday (or perhaps he's trying to tell me to get off here and get on with it!)You can do anything, make anything, dream anything. If you change the world, the world will change.0 -
Oooh which one are you going to? I've only been to Longleat. I love the Spa but last time I was pregnant so couldn't do much of it. I'd love to go with a group of people, I think maybe it'd be better if we did that as then OH could do more with them. But we don't have those sort of friends to go with. Shame really as it'd work out much cheaper sharing a hut too.

How is it that they know when we have stuff that we have to do. I was doing my online tesco shop the other week and it took me _all_ day to do it! And I still forgot lots of things!Baby Giz born 6/2/110
