Took Joshie swimming for the first time today. He LOVED it! It is a bit of a faff though, getting baby changed into the pool and then out again dried off and dressed again whilst you are dripping wet yourself!
It is a faff isn't it? :) I've almost given up going on my own now (used to take DD to my gym pool), it's really hard work and I end up getting quite stressed. Might start going again when she can sit up on her own. Last time I went all the family rooms were taken as I went when the Water babies class was on and there was nowhere to put DD down, so I ended up putting her inside a locker! At least when she's sitting I can plonk her on the floor.

Are you ladies aware of the free swim with Schweppes Abbey Well water (Tesco sells the bottles in the sandwich cabinets). Holiday Inn does the free swims, so most should have pools local. For going with a baby it's great as they are in the pool for such a short time, I'd hate to have to pay £5 per adult each time.

We tried the Farnborough Holiday Inn last time and the changing facilities were crap. Tomorrow we're off to Guildford, it's a much newer hotel, so maybe they have a changing table in the changing rooms.

I don't really like going to the swimming baths either. It's too much faff on getting changed and dried and stuff :o

Had a calmer day today with no disasters and I've fixed the washing machine.

Hi all, just wondering if anyone has any advice for me. My little one is great in the day, sleeps similar nap time as gina ford (But a bit less) so not getting too much sleep. At 8ish I try and put her down for the night but she wakes up 30 mins later yhinking it was just a nap she was meant to have. There is no way I can get her back to sleep. She is 5.5months old. She is up loads (6-7 times) and feeds loads in the night. What am I doing wrong!!?? x
I'm really sorry I have no idea! But wanted to reply...you could try putting her down earlier at night maybe as she could be overtired.

    hugs you must be exhausted!

MV glad Josh enjoyed swimming, L did too when we took him last week. Thanks for the tip giz i'll look for one of those bottles!

Oooh Delain I'd be livid too.. I'd have her 'working off her debt' .. £50 for a new bottle should get you 100 hours of child labour.. get on it!!! (no minimum wage for miscreants!) .. I get mine from cheapperfumes .. they are really good prices usually and never had an issue. I also buy 3 or 4 at a time! And you can't be the meanest mum ever that is me!

Becles.... just hugs... I'd say it never rains but a burst pipe is probably worse than the rain! Hope it all dries quickly. I hate wet carpets.. eeewww *shudder* soggy socks!

Aless... day one!!! Eat it or starve.. though until they are about 18 months if they don't eat dinner I do give them weetabix/porridge before bed... because I don't want waking up when they are hungry.. but no dinner = no dessert.

Well, the beasts learned from yesterday's behaviour and while they got up a little early it was hardly surprising after I put them to bed at 5:30 last night and they were all ready for school and sat watching Shrek when I got up this morning. I don't think they liked doing lots of tidying and cleaning and being told off lots.. heehee...

Waiting on 2 calls today... 1 from the window place and 1 from the decorator.. I WILL have this house warm and draught free come winter! I have 3 windows I need replacing desperately, though it depends on the price of the bay as to whether I have that done or a different one and next year I will be saving up for the 3 bedroom windows doing and the bathroom and loo.. these last 2 are tiny so it shouldn't be too expensive... but I won't have a baby to buy for or any rooms left to fully decorate (though I might do the front room as it needs a new carpet! ;))

Tell me to shove off if you want:p because I am just being a nosey parker:o BUT you have more than 3 bedrooms, right?

    Morning

Another busy day ahead with loads to do. Hoping to get all my calls finished today, so I can work from home tomorrow.

Nursery sports day may be on this afternoon, but looking at the very dark grey clouds, I'm expecting a text to say it's not on :(

Have a good day all xx

Becles (plus any others) I have to get a present for a 4 year old girl and have some of the Kipper books from the glitch ages ago - do you think they are ok or too young?

    TIA.x

    Morning all.

Childminder is sick today so Joe is at home. DH was going to try to take the afternoon off, but got to work and decided he was sick too so came home at 9:30! (I don't think there's too much wrong with him to be honest, but it saves me having such a mad panic to try to make my hours up, so whatever).

We swim every week as Joe has been having lessons since he was 4 months old. It is an almighty faff as there are no baby facilities where we go (it's not a public pool), especially so now that he's crawling, and he often has a screaming fit while I'm getting dressed as he's tired and wants a cuddle. But he enjoys the actual lessons so much that we stick with it :o

I think tooth number 3 has just broken through the gum :) Hard to be sure as Joe won't let me look and if I try to have a feel he bites me with the bottom 2!

We got some free samples of Plum baby food this morning to test (through Bizziebaby). A fruity one and a savoury one. Joe will probably love the fruity one as it has blueberries in and he loves anything with those in. But bought savoury food he normally really pulls his face at - he much prefers his Mum's home cooking :D But they were free, and we'll get some more money off vouchers for testing them :money: so we'll give it a go.

    Hi all

BigBird, hope dh keeps Joe entertained without bothering you too much!!

I nipped round to sir monster's for a yummy chinese lunch, she's housebound today as has a workman in! L slept almost 2 hours this morning which is unusual (and was helpful as I had a work phone call to make!) and then almost fell asleep on the way home too, he's in his cot now so i'm hoping he'll drop off for another nap. I may walk up the high st with him later if it's not too wet as I want to get a booster seat with tray for our hols. I've left it late so will try the baby shop which is slightly more expensive but argos doesn't have the one i want in and online won't come in time now.

right, must get off my fat backside and do something...need to make sure all the washing is done by tonight really so we can pack tomorrow and have work to do too!
