@Becles - Charlotte sounds absolutely adorable. I love reading about the things that all your more grown up kids do and say
How old is Charlotte?
Has anyone ever found lego suitable for 6 or 12 month plus? I found one set but it's unavailable to buy, it was a mickey mouse baby lego. The rest seems to be from 1.5 years. Don't think I'm crazy or anything but I've not bought DD any toys and this is just my preference and I'd just like to get her something. Am thinking about buying a few bits over the year for Christmas 2012. I don't think I've met a kid that doesn't like lego...
I'm also starting to make a treasure basket but can't think of much to put in that suitable from about 6 months. In fact I've got nothing so far
I let DD play with a wooden spoon but I have to hold the end at the moment as I'm sure she's going to poke her eye out. She loves crisp packets and my empty cadburys button packet provided an hours entertainment the other day. But are these things suitable for unsupervised play? Probably not. Baby Giz born 6/2/110 -
Oh and the one thing that annoys me about OH is he just doesn't listen. Last night DD made a whimper and I'm sure we discussed to leave her a bit after going through 2 nights of her sleeping 12 hours straight. But no, he went straight to her last night and then she started screaming the house down (maybe because daddy's booby doesn't mean food?). And he takes forever to do anything. Why is it when I'm on my own I have her changed, fed, bathed, dressed, extra nap all done by about 9:30? When he's home I try and stand back for him to do things to spend more time with her but it's taken him 30 minutes to get out of bed to change her nappy...not sure if he's even done it yet. My boobs are about to explode - I need to feed!
Sorry about that
Mini rant over. Baby Giz born 6/2/110 -
Hi Giz. I've been meaning to make a treasure basket for Joe and have bookmarked these pages for ideas of what to put in it Linky1 Linky2
I must get on and put something together now that you've reminded me!
I know what you mean about men being slow at doing stuff. I do the grocery shopping on a Saturday morning and leave DH to look after Joe. I get back around 9:30 - 10 and I can guarantee both will still be in pyjamas. I'd have had us both up, washed and dressed by that time, so that we're ready to go somewhere after Joe has had his morning nap.
I also had to have a go at DH at the weekend as he pays no attention whatsoever to Joe's feeding routine. I was doing some tidying in the garden on Saturday while Joe had a nap. When he woke up (around 4) DH went to get him I mentioned he'd be ready for his bottle and got a "hmm-mmm" in response. Half an hour later I come indoors and Joe is whingeing away while DH tries to distract him with toys. I asked how much of his bottle did he drink. The response - "what bottle?" Not only has Joe had a bottle around 3-4 pm for months (or whenever he wakes up if he's asleep then), but I'd even reminded DH! I was fuming  Had a real go about how I can't go anywhere without constantly worrying about whether DH will remember to feed Joe. He made more of an effort on Sunday, so we'll just have to see how long it lasts. You can do anything, make anything, dream anything. If you change the world, the world will change.0 -

We just got the bog standard duplo and Squeak plays with that.. it isn't like she can fit it in her mouth! We have the Forest Friends stuff and some cars she likes too.. the little flowers and leaves I don't give her but she loves the animals and the people which are chunky enough to hold but won't fit in the mouth. She likes them in a heap to scrabble in as it is noisy.
Wooden spoons.. she is more likely to ram the stick down the throat than poke her eye out.. how many one eyed people do you know?
Pringles tubes with a few bit sof pasta or rice in and the lid taped on securely.
Empty medicine bottle.. washed out with beads in and the lid screwed back on.. child proof so she has no chance!
small bottle with water (and maybe a dash of food colouring) or oil (or a bit of oil and some water) in with glitter stars or things in.. id taped shut! You do NOT want that exploding!
Foil balloon.. helium ones weighted so they don't float off at good.
a piece of thick elastic threaded with large brightly coloured buttons
a keyboard.. she LOVES this.. cut the cable off though!
She also has a furry glove, a sock, 2 marbles on a string (don't ask.. she loves it).. and the cat (sometimes 2!!).. I haven't figured out how to make him leave her alone!!!!
Squeak has a ball of wool and an argos book but is obviously supervised with those.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Thanks pigpen - loads of good ideas there. Good point about one eye'd people too

Just been sorting through the clothes for the next age range of 6-9 months. I'm wondering why someone bought us a really heavy duty coat that would be used around summer. Unless it still fits come September/October I can't see it being used
Thanks bigbird for the links will bookmark those and have a look in a bit.
Off to Homebase now to see if they have Hebes (thanks Becles). Also need weedkiller and a clothes line prop. It's boring being a grown up.Baby Giz born 6/2/110 -
If the coat doesn't fit come the end of summer.. get it on ebay! I have loads of Squeaks bits that I got her for winter which will fit her now (18-24 months she isn't even 1 yet!!!) so they are all going on ebay at the end of August.. I'd do it September but the baby will arrive about then so I best not!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0

Hi Giz. My LO was 7 months on Saturday and I've not bought much in the way of toys, but 2 cheapies she loves are stacking rings from Tesco for £3 (like this but cheaper http://www.amazon.co.uk/Fisher-Price-71050-Brilliant-Basics-Rock-a-Stack/dp/B00000IZQP/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1309341269&sr=8-1) and wire and bead game from Tesco for £3 (like this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Melissa-Doug-First-Bead-Maze/dp/B0026ZPSJ0/ref=sr_1_7?s=kids&ie=UTF8&qid=1309341717&sr=1-7).
She also has this and likes it http://www.google.co.uk/products/catalog?q=baby+einstein+ball&hl=en&rlz=1T4ADRA_enGB426GB426&prmd=ivns&resnum=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&biw=1093&bih=435&wrapid=tlif130934213563910&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=486440496300743411&sa=X&ei=tfkKToXhIYSw8gOCj-CQAQ&ved=0CFQQ8wIwAA#0 -
Good Morning

Does anyone have any weaning books they recommend? It's too early for us at the mo, but I would like to have a read and get myself clued up. I'm thinking of maybe taking a look at Gina Ford's weaning book as her CLB routine works so well for us.
Any ideas?
Many thanks0 -
Yeah just put some bits on ebay that we didn't like. Planning on baby number 2, so will wait and see if we have a girl before we sell things we like!If the coat doesn't fit come the end of summer.. get it on ebay! Hmmm, I was also wondering about buying things in the sales for next summer, but it sounds like it's not so easy to assume she'd be in 18 months clothes then.
That's perfect CL, OH works for tesco so will get a discount too. He's on holiday next week so I think we'll go shopping and have a look. Maybe get some duplo too.Hi Giz. Whats CLB? I've not read them as we've decided to go down the baby led route, but I hear Annabel Karmel books are good. You should check the library first to see if they have any. I know our library does and it's tiny. Our sure start does weaning classes too, so maybe yours does that might help?Sammy_Girl wrote: »Good Morning

Oh forgot to say, thanks Becles for saying about Homebase for Hebes. Unfortunately they didn't have the ones you were talking about but they had loads of plants in clearance. I got a Hebe for £1.50 reduced from £7. A fushia for £1, a lily for £3 (was £9), some other perrenial for £1 and then loads of bedding plants for 10p, 15p and 25p! Now I've got to plant them all
