Glad to hear Squeak is on the mend PP.
It's just started tipping down here. I hope it blows over as I have to go to the dentist later and don't really fancy getting drenched.
Which is more important when it comes to moving up to the next car seat - being 9 months old, or weighing 9kg? I'm fairly sure Joe's 9kg now (he was 8.4kg last time I had him weighed about 8 weeks ago and definitely bigger now!), but he's only 7 1/2 months. His current seat is supposed to be suitable up to 13kg or 18 months but it's already getting difficult to get him in and out of it without bashing his head on the handle.
It's funny how certain pushchairs are popular in certain areas. When we got our Jane Slalom I'd never even heard of them before, but now when I go out and about I see LOADS of them :rotfl: Not many Bugaboos here, but quite a few Quinnys. One of my friends has one of those weird Stokke ones. Couldn't believe it when I found out how much they cost
We use the TT bottles. Sometimes Joe will drain a bottle in about 5 minutes. Others he'll take half an hour because he's so distracted.

I have a bertini which I've just got a toddler seat for so I don't have to get a double I know emmaljunga do them too with toddler seats.. I can't push a tandem and I wouldn't have the Bill& Teds given.. why would anyone put a child in the basket? I saw a child of about 18 months get their hands under the wheel at the side and run over.. which means they can touch wheels which run through dog poo and vomit and pee and plain dirt..
Bigbird.. We put Squeak in the next size car seat at 9 months as she was crammed in the width of the baby seat.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Morning!
There are a lot of maclaren and other umbrella strollers round here but I love mine. I've got a Nipper 360 in red. Its fab! Does great on country roads and turns on a dime! Afraid I was influenced by the fact that it needed to be lightweight as I struggle to lift things (no point in a travel system as I was never going to be able to carry DS in the car seat anyway so would have to lift him out of it). Although it was between the Nipper and an icandy. Came down to cost between those 2! Love my Nipper. Would probably buy the double version if I needed a double pram!
MV, its funny how fast your body adjusts to the milk needed. I almost have my boobs back to normal. Chunky is feeding 4 times a day for about 10 mins at a time. We kinda feel into that pattern and its worked for us. I have been really lucky. Although we struggled with feeding at the start due to poor latch I have never had any problems like mastitis or anything. We were going to put DS on formula but since I am not going back to work til he is 1 I've decided to keep going - simply due to the fact that I can't be bothered faffing with formula. However he was always faster taking a bottle than a breast feed. I was wondering what size of teat you are using on your TT bottles? We have them and found that as DS got older and started to take longer feeding that it was time to change the teat to the next size up.0 -
This is Josh today, nearly sitting up on his own! I can't wait till he can and I can leave him for short periods of time to just play with his toys!Metranil dreams of becoming a neon,You don't even take him seriously,How am I going to get to heaven?,When I'm just balanced so precariously..0

Aw MV - he's adorable! And he's getting big!
Chunky will happily sit on his own now unless he is in the bath where he insists on throwing himself forwards to get at his toys when they float away! Silly baby!0 -
Neph we are using the next size up of teats on our TT bottles. We were using the newborn ones for ages until he began fussing!
We have to really warm the milk up before he'll take it from a bottle too. If it's cold he just won't drink it. More joys for when I swap to formula! I'll have to try and heat his bottles up a bit somehow, depending on where we are.
I think that's the thing I'm dreading most about giving up BF'ing, just the having to take bottles out, mix formula etc. Having said that, wrestling a near 19lb baby in a public place when he's no cooperating on the boob, is something I won't be sorry to leave behind!Metranil dreams of becoming a neon,You don't even take him seriously,How am I going to get to heaven?,When I'm just balanced so precariously..0 -
I was looking at the twin nipper for these 2 but I couldn't justify spending that much money when it would be used a couple of times a month.. so we are making do with the toddler seat.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0

They do look nice and solid, Sadly they would be nigh on impossible to get on our buses, you have to be able to Squeeze them into tiny spaces at an odd angle when it's busy. That's why I bought the slalom pro for Squeak because it can do that. lol.
I'm hoping that we will be able to get newer buses with more space now it's all changed. We currently have 10/12 year old bone shakersIf we get the same ones as they have in town then I can get the nipper 360.
I wouldn't have any of the realy long tandems for the same reason. can't be doing with having to wait for the next bus because there's already a buggy on, unfolded they are the only pram that can get on.
The only other one I've seen is the M&P Skate with extra seat, as Squeak already wants to be out of the buggy so it won't be long (as long as they change the silly bus timetable lol) that she'll want to be in a seat for.
ETA: Mine will be used for 3-4 bus journeys every day so it being bus friendy is very importantMum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession:o

That's true PP - I'm hoping to have this one up and walking before we have the next. If I can I might sling the younger and put Chunky in the pram. If not then will look at second hand I suppose. However, due to stupid medical tests/problems I can't try again til I have a diagnosis so its a moot point for me. Boo!!
MV the only thing I found for DS was to start making warming his bottle (ebm) a little less each time so he wasn't get it as warm each time. He will now happily drink water straight out of the fridge. We no longer use the bottles so I suppose I don't have to wean him off those however, you're right wrestling a 20lb baby to have a feed in public is a bit daunting! Have you got a size 3 teat in the house (assume you are on the 2)? Maybe try him on it. We did that with DS - he wasn't ready for it but it proved it wasn't the teat that was the problem. Turns out he was being nosey and forgetting to eat!0 -
Awww, he's gorgeous MV. (We've got that cushion. And that play gym. And that giraffe... :rotfl:)
Joe's on the fast flow teats now. I think we went up to them when he was only 3 or 4 months old as he was getting frustrated with the slower ones. He does tend to get a face full of milk when he faffs about, but he doesn't seem too bothered.
I slowly started heating his milk less and less too, and now he's quite happy to have it at room temperature. (I fill his bottles with boiled water in the morning and then add the formula as and when we need them during the day)
Joe has just mastered sitting up on his own this week. He still topples sometimes, but he's pretty much there with maintaining his balance. I think the ball pool I got for him recently has helped as he's quite happy to sit up in there for a while. Previously, if he was on the floor he wanted to be lying down to play with his toys rather than sitting up.You can do anything, make anything, dream anything.
