Hello ladies
The day started off so sunny and now its rubbish
MV - if possible, little Josh gets more handsome with every photoHope he's still having a good nap.
For weeks, Esme didn't want to nap in her cot at lunchtime, so it was either in the pram or in my arms! But I put her in their last week and she's taken to it. She's currently up there now, so I'm hoping she'll last til 2pm.
Does anyone have any success in getting Colief on prescription? I'm seeing the nurse this afternoon, so hoping she will give it to us as it's near on £11 for a teeny tiny bottle :eek:0 -
Just had a quick read back.
Giz - I've been on a train a few times into Central London. We are South Eastern Trains, which are as carpy as they come. If I'm lucky and get one of the new ones, there's more standing space and wheelchair space, so can easily get the pram in and sit next to it. If its a rubbish train, then I stand up with the pram. I always think someone's going to nick my pram if I leave it unattended - I have an iCandy
MV - re FF'ing whilst out and about. I either make up the day's bottles with boiled water in the morning, and then take the powder in a powder container and make up when needs be - literally takes seconds. Or I have the small cartons of ready made milk in my nappy bag and just empty into a bottle when needed. I'm not sure which other brands do the cartons, but we use Aptamil and the little cartons are 66p each. I always have a spare couple in my bag and a spare sterilised bottle, just in case of emergencies and the like. Esme won't entertain non warmed milk, but I've never had a problem finding somewhere to heat it - ie any cafe/restaurant will give you a jug/bowl of hot water to heat it up in.0 -
Wendz - Good luck at the doctors. Hope the jabs go ok.
Sorry, another question from me. We're going on holiday on Monday and it will be Esme's first time on a plane - any hints and tips? DH has already been delegated nappy changer as I can stand the small toilets on the plane as it is, let alone with a wriggly baby!0 -
Thanks for that link Fuzz. Some good ideas there!
Thanks Sammynah that nap lasted all of 20 mins! enough time for me to shovel down a weird mix of what was in the house - fish fingers, coleslaw and super noodles!

Sammy we use the Aptamil cartons for Josh when we mix formula in with his last bottle. They are very convenient and I think I will definitely carry one or two of those with me. It was more the power that I was thinking about, but I guess if you make up the water in advance, then it isn't that much hassle
No tips for flying with a baby I'm afraid as I haven't braved that yet! Where are you off to?Metranil dreams of becoming a neon,You don't even take him seriously,How am I going to get to heaven?,When I'm just balanced so precariously..0 -
It’s busy on here today, are you all stuck inside avoiding the rain, trying to keep them entertained like MV? I’m lucky LO seems to be quite subdued today long morning nap and now a leisurely feed has kept us busy so far. So catching up on a few things:
They could rename Nappy Valley as Bugaboo City almost everyone has one, mostly the Bee, a few iCandy’s – Quinny’s are a bit last season! I stand out like a sore thumb with my 10 yr old Chicco from freecycle.
Rach – I’d feel a bit of a fraud trying to be a peer supporter as most of the women seem to struggle with either sore, cracked nipples, pain feeding, thrush, mastitis, oversupply, engorgement etc and I have had none of that.
I’ve surprised myself and become a bit militant about my right to feed in public. I’d much rather sit in a caf! than use some of the horrid cubicles that dept stores pass off as BF rooms.
We’re still using the newborn teat on our bottles so she doesn’t become lazy and prefer them over boobies, but is that really mean at 4 ½ months??
CL I’m confused about naps now – 45 mins to an hour twice a day doesn’t sound like much, how do you fill the rest of your time? My LO gets very grouchy and impossible to manage after a couple of hours awake, so ideally I’d like her to have at least an hour if not two after this time, so that’s probably 3 kips a day. Although I often miss the right slot and then she’s impossible to settle. We Made-it-3 on 28/01/11 with birth of our gorgeous DD.0 -
Do you have a Jumperoo MV? My LO will spend about 20-30 mins bouncing which gives me a break. I saw on Hotdeals that they are £62 on Amazon and Tesco Direct. Apparently if you call Mothercare they price match and give you a £10 gift voucher.0

Sammy-girl, long or short haul? We arranged for a basinet for LO and we used that as the nappy changing space too, wasn't going to try to do that in those cramped toilets. If you are breast feeding have a pillow so LO doesn't bang their head on the metal arm rests. And try to feed on take off and landing, it helps their ears with the pressure. Cabin crew were suprisingly really helpful. We Made-it-3 on 28/01/11 with birth of our gorgeous DD.0

That's all she will do. At 7pm she starts to get restless and I give her her supper, get her into a sleepsuit, nappy change, BF and bed before 8pm. She goes over when taking her BF, so I just lift her into her cot.0 -
MI3 - DD has 3 naps a day. If she's awake any longer than 2 hours at a time she gets grouchy. Our day starts at 7am, so she has 30-45 min nap at 9am, then she's down for her lunchtime nap about 11.45am and is up around 2pm, then her afternoon nap is around 4pm for 30-45 min and bedtime routine starts at 5pm so she is down for the night by 7pm.
For days where we are at home, she will only concentrate on one thing for about 20 min, so we have a cycle of swing, bouncy chair, playmat, Jeremy Kyle, dancing to nursery rhymes! Thanks for the heads up CL on the Jumperoo. That's a good price - I may have to get one now and save it for when DD is old enough0
