LO is much the same - hand him food and he will try it. He may hate but at least he tries! It can be fun to watch - apparently he doesn't like the taste of strawberries. One lick and his nose turned up. I have tried him several times and DH and I end up eating them! :p

Carrot cake - nom nom!!! I think the kitchen is calling me too!!! There may be something nice there I haven't found yet - I doubt it but weightwatchers weigh in is weds morning so am trying to behave myself.......

    ......it will fail miserably! :D

Evening all! Hope everyone is ok! I have read back but I have a head like a sieve made worse by baby brain which everyone told me would get better - they lied!!! Anyhoo - hubby's cousin had a baby boy this morning - all well. Can't wait to meet him. Is it wrong to be broody when LO is only 8 months old and my body is physically not ready yet to have another (stupid ody foiling my plans!)??

Every baby really is different but they all get there. Isaac is able to sit up which he can do really well unless he is in the bath when he prefers to be almost horizontal in order to reach all the toys that keep floating away from him. He can't crawl yet but is trying to get on his hands and knees. He can get around fine but digging in his toes and pushing himself along - kind of like commando crawling. He will happily walk if I hold his hands but he can't stand holding furniture yet. Thankfully this means there is only so far he can get on his own.....am far too knackered to chase after him all the time. Lazy mummy!

I can beat that one i am seriously broody and i have a 4 week old. (In all fairness shes an IVF baby and not likely to get a sibling so i think i am more missing what i wont get again).
    xx

    Morning

Love to all as I've only skim read back :o

Rough day here yesterday. Charlotte kept waking up during Sunday night/Monday morning. Both her and Josh got up yesterday morning and they were burning hot and they both threw up. They were not sick any more but they were very hot, had headaches and slept loads yesterday. Managed to get their temps down and they both slept better during the night. They both feel a bit warm and have headaches still this morning, so I'll keep them off school again.

Think it's been a flu like bug or something.

Hope everyone has a good day xx
Here I go again on my own....

Oh Becles, hope they both feel better soon. William woke up about half a dozen times last night and then tried to wake up at 5.30 this morning, so I am pooped... kept prodding OH to see to him but to no avail so only me doing it!!
Mum to 2 lovely boys who keep me busy.

Hugs Becles..hope the little 'uns are feeling better very soon x

Well after a week or so of Josh not sleeping through the night, we seem to be back on track again :j

The last couple of nights he's slept trough again. The HV thinks it might have been because I was trying to feed him too much too early (he will be 5 months next week). I am now giving him one cube of fruit/veg puree a day rather than 2.

he loves it! Hoping that when he is a bit bigger I can get him onto BLW.

Had him weighed yesterday..the chunker is 18lb 11oz

No wonder my back and knees hurt!

    Love to all x

Glad to hear he is sleeping better, sounds big t weighs 21lb and 2 but did start of teeny!!

Sorry slight bugbear re blw, you can't go onto it after starting on purees it is the way of weaning from the start (avoiding all purees and spoonfeeding), what you may be referring to is introducing finger foods when they have the ability to do so (maybe around 6 months) when they have the hand/eye co-ordination to feed themselves. Waiting for the weaning backlash again . . . . .

I'd agree that BLW should be something to start with and skip purees altogether. I think that's partly why Joe had his choking incident - he's used to being spoon fed things he can swallow easily, so he tried to swallow a chunk of baby corn he had in his mouth and then choked on it.

I think the idea is that with purees the baby learns to swallow first and chewing comes later, whereas with BLW they learn to chew first and then to swallow. (But feel free to correct me!)

Did someone say they give their baby seedy bread? I've been giving Joe DH's white bread as I wasn't sure if he could have my soya & linseed bread.

We'll have to give blueberries a go. We tried strawberries at the weekend, but he preferred squishing them rather than eating them :) We also tried mango, which was highly entertaining as it was so slippery he couldn't hang onto it and it was pinging off all over the place :rotfl:

Josh is getting big, MV! Joe was 18lb 8oz at 5 1/2 months and he is quite a big lad - he was 9lb 4oz at birth. No idea what he is now as I can't make it to the baby clinic now that I'm back at work :(
