    Morning all,

I always had wholemeal bread as a child and now i still don't like white bread.

Things are going well with Poppy, two nights ago she slept a whole six hours in one go which i was very pleased at. Last night was pretty good too although she woke up at half 7 all sniffly bless her.

I am very impressed by all those who use reusable nappies and wipes.

So question is - do I get formula for his breakfasts etc or do I use cows milk?

I just used cows milk for making cereal etc., with. It's easier and cheaper :money: It's just not advised as their main milk drink and you should keep them on bottle or breast milk for drinks until 12 months.

Another question. If you give them toast, do you use white or wholemeal bread? I'm sure when I was reading about weaning in general it says not to give gluten till they are older...argh it's all so confusing. I'm sure our parents didn't worry about these things.

All bread and all other wheat products have gluten in, so it doesn't really matter if you give brown or white bread as they both have gluten.

They both contradict each other - brown bread has more b-vitamins and fibre in, but white bread is enhanced with calcium!

I'd wean onto whatever bread that you usually eat and intend giving them in packed lunches etc., when they are older. It just makes it easier in the long run.

I was brought up on white bread, but decided I liked brown bread as a teenager and have not eaten white bread since. I don't mind white buns or freshly baked white bread, but I can't stand white sliced packaged bread.

I usually make brown bread in the breadmaker. It only takes a few minutes to hoy the ingredients in, and four hours later a beautiful loaf comes out and you can pretend your are a domestic goddess :D

Try and get a hair cut if you can Rach. Mine was a right mess but I had it cut during the week for the first time in months and I feel so much better now it's neat and not a frizzy ratty mess.

Lost the sunshine here and it's breezy, overcast and cold today. Yesterday I was laying in the garden in a hammock in shorts and t-shirt, today I've got a chunky cardigan on to hang the washing out.
Here I go again on my own....

Still breast feeding (19 months later not sure when we will stop!)
Washable nappies - no :( Due to lack of space for washing and no tumble dryer
Washable wipes - no :( Really should have done this - use flannels to clean Erin after eating.
BLW (from 5 months) - tick
    Sling - tick
    Co-sleeping - tick

Hippy mummy but with a physics degree ;)

Our nursery does whatever we want when it comes to feeding so she feeds herself at nursery (with a bit of help if necessary) and eats better than when she is at home (peer pressure!) They've also just started sign language but Erin's already been doing it for a year.

We had fun at the pirate picnic and erin kept most of the costume on apart from the eye patch. Lovely and hot weather down here. Off to do some food shopping now.

    Evening all.

Tick list re natural parents - just bf at 9 months and blw at 6 months, but no to reusable stuff or slings.

Re bread we do whatever I get/we have when out etc but I did read somewhere that best to limit use wholemeal pasta/rice etc as fills up too much but not enough calories.

Went to a Sikh wedding where I had to find somewhere to bf t at the temple and reception, but dress worked quite good for bf usually feel have to take all dress off!

lol sir monster, i have visions of you having to strip off to feed in the middle of the wedding

it's an interesting point about the wholemeal pasta and rice, didn't think of that, he's only had it when i've been cooking that anyway!

I am crossing my fingers L sleeps through tonight, he didn't have a good afternoon nap as we were also at a wedding. It was nice but i'm not sure a 50 mile round trip just for the service was worth it tbh! we had a chinese takeaway tonight which was nice though.

hoping it's not so hot tomorrow, i know most people love it but i don't enjoy it when it's too hot!

Rach, not too sure about London but here the weather is meant to turn to rain tonight and rain all day tomorrow! It has literally just started raining.

It has been far far too hot here. I am not good with heat either, think I live in the wrong place lol it always seems to be hotter here longer than most other places :o

Pigpen has gone away for the weekend! I hope it was you that asked :o

My Squeak is on about 2 -3 bottles a day, how much she takes is entirely due to how distracted she is at the time! She will almost finish one if in bed with me but drink about 3oz if we're downstairs and there is noise. She does drink water and (watered down) fruit juice, because it is quite acidic and can cause nappy rash if not watered down throughout the day from a cup. In the next couple of months I am going to get her taking her milk from the cups so we can ditch the bottles before she gets really attatched to them :)

BLW is good whatever milk your baby has, I think it's much better as Squeak now eats all sorts of things my twins won't touch because we were all told back in the day to shovel stuff that tastes of nothing down them from before they were ready, then the medical professions wonder why a whole generation grew up only wanting bland food like chips :rotfl:

We use washable nappies & wipes here, too. :D They don't have to be mega-expensive if you get them used. Mine have come from a combination of Freecycle, http://www.used-nappies.co.uk and http://www.thenappysite.co.uk (last one is my fav). New ones are hideously overpriced IMO and used are perfectly fine for a fraction of the price!
I have to admit one of the reasons for using washables was that it seemed MSE. But OH refused to let me buy used nappies. And I've also gone for mostly all-in-ones. bumgenius are my favourite at the moment. We also have TB Stretchies, Flips and Tots Bots Easyfits, plus a couple of other one offs I got cheap in sales. I've probably spent about £350 on nappies and wipes now (did get carried away with different colours) but they should last to potty and should last the second baby too, right? And possibly the 3rd ;) I figured if we have a boy we can use the pink ones at night, or I'll see if I can do a swap with someone who has a girl second time round :) Although I often have DD in blue and people think she's a boy, especially as she has a blue blanket too.

You can give whatever bread you want! But keep in mind that what you start to give now will form their preferences down the line - so if you want them to prefer wholemeal bread in the future, then give it to them now :D. It IS healthier, but of course should be in line with what you buy anyway ;).
Well I used to eat wholemeal (was trying to cut out white carbs for bowel probs) and then when I got pregnant my bowel probs subsided and they still aren't an issue, so although I still eat wholemeal pasta (and OH eats white), I've gone back on the white 'plastic' hovis bread which I love. But I'm sure the day will come when I might need to go back to wholemeal and I feel the need now to go back to wholemeal too just to be a bit healthier. So I'll have both. So if I have both should I try to give wholemeal bread over white? I should write these questions down and I can ask at the next weaning class.

Sir Monster - thanks for the info about WM pasta filling up.

I feel like such a fat ugly slob at the moment, my skin is bad, my gums are bleeding, my hair hasn't been cut for 6 months and i have no nice clothes that fit. Time to tackle it methinks!
Me too. I'm trying to do something about it though. I'm going to the dentist for the first time in 13 years a week Tuesday! I'm bricking it. My hair is booked for a week Thursday and I've got a hair dye to sort out my grey hairs but I'm scared to try it as I've never dyed my hair before. And only once at the hairdresser. I've still got the highlights so I'm scared the hair dye might make the highlights a funny colour.

I've got spots :( 31 years old and have never got rid of the things. They make my life miserable. Before TTC I was on antibiotics and had clear skin, but I've not been able to take them again and now I'm BF and then I'll be TTC again. I'm to worried about using benzoyl something or other (about the only cream that helps) incase it makes it's way to the milk! I'm sure it'd be fine, but would rather suffer the spots for now.

And I'm the same with clothes too. Admittedly I'm a jeans and t-shirt person but I look at some of the other mums in my group with envy - they've obviously got more money to burn as they have nice dresses suitable for BF and there's me puling my top up exposing my belly to world! It's way too hot to wear the vest underneath at the moment.

Oh !!!!!!. I totally forgot - I'm meant to be going swimming this morning :o OH is home to look after Maddy.

    I'm waffling. Sorry.

Does anyone have "Just Dance"? I've got enough points to get it from Play.com and was thinking it could be good for a bit of exercise. DD like it too as she likes the music and she might find it amusing watching mummy dance silly.

    I'm going to go now.

I'm the same with clothes. My body is fat and ugly and I've no idea what suits me.

For work I've got two pairs of business trousers and 3 blouses.

For casual wear, I've got two pairs of jeans and a couple of tops.

Around the house I wear cheap jogging bottoms and t-shirts.

I feel like a right frump, but I've got no cash to buy new clothes and if I did, I wouldn't have a clue what to buy :o Most of my clothes are random single items bought on mystery shops rather than a carefully planned wardrobe.

I never know how to style my hair, so it gets scraped back in a pony tail or occasionally left loose with clips to hold the sides back. I put a bit of eye shadow and mascara on and a bit lipstick so I look like I've made an effort, but I don't know how to do make up properly.

I need a filling re-doing as it fell out, but I've been putting off getting that done as the dentist costs too much :o It's one of the top teeth at the back so I'll really have to open wide to get it done, and I'll be gagging like hell and making a right fool of myself. I just hate having the stuff in my mouth.

Not in a good place at the moment with self confidence at the moment :o

Off to work this morning with an audit to do. Josh has a football presentation this afternoon so I'm looking forward to that.

Have a good day all xx

All this negativity re our bodies ladies - you are all still beautiful women with beautiful children!

Glad you are a blw fan Delain, do you find it easier than purees too? As I never really worry about taking stuff out with me or doing anything really separate for t? He tried a bit of curry yesterday but was quite hard as no highchair, find it very hard to feed him this way on my lap.

    Afternoon all,

I am planning on going on a bit of a shopping spree next week to get some nice things to wear as i haven't bought clothes in so long. OH promised me when pregnant he would get me something too. I do struggle to find clothes that are good for breastfeeding. I tend to wear dresses as i don't fit in my jeans and don't have any summery trousers/shorts that fit.

Gizmodo - don't have just dance but do have the micheal jackson one which is really good. I have played just dance 2 and is really fun and definately wears you out. I was doing the micheal jackson one in the last week of pregnancy (not very energetically) in the hope it would encourage baby out lol.
