dribble, again i'd recommend the no cry sleep solution as there's some stuff on there about how to get them into their own beds/get them to sleep through when cosleeping. think i'd cosleep much more if we have another, happens quite a bit now but never did when he was small, i guess as he was right next to me in the moses basket, now in his own room so if he's unsettled it's less tiring to have him in bed than be up and down like a yoyo!

Thanks for that, will look it up!

We've been co-sleeping since birth pretty much, not through desire but necessity, but we're now used to her. She's still a complete titch so needs a least 1 feed to get her through and I'm too lazy to do it in her room and wait for her to go back to sleep before attempting operation put-down. I've bought loads of books, but I've found the problem is you need to read them! I just look at them longingly hoping they'll magic into her head! At least she sleeps in her room in the evening and quite well (touch wood) so I get that time to feel normal, but she senses when we go to bed and wakes up - she doesn't even want feeding, just to come in with us!

Ah well, she won't be doing it when she's 18 (I hope!)

I started on Monday with not having her in our bed. Monday night was difficult, but with stroking her face and lying in bed where she could see me from her cot. It wasn't too bad. To reinforce it I've been putting her into her cot for her daytime naps, which has been quite easy. I had 2 really good nights, Tue & Wed and last night was the night from hell. I actually cried with frustration and exhaustion this morning at 5.30am, when I'd had three hours sleep, then spent the rest of the night in and out of bed every 5 minutes stroking her face and shushing her.

I've told OH that I'm sleeping in the spare bedroom tonight and he's only to bring her to me when she is due a feed. I've never asked him to get up during the night from he was on paternity leave and she is now 4 1/2 months, so I think it's about time.
  • Good for you on sticking to what you want CL.

Mustn't complain about my OH, he'll cuddle up to her so I can have some relative peace all night, and he'll do whatever I want, it's having the courage to face those difficult nights. She's actualy never had a daytime nap anywhere other than buggy/car seat/on someone so that's another area I shy away from. It wouldn't be so bad if it was just her, but my elder daughter woud suffer so I'm a bit chicken really.

Hubby also works away a lot Mon-Fri so when he's away I'm tempted I'll fall into easy option. Might tackle it over easter as he has the 11 days off so one way to get it sorted I suppose.

Decisiveness was never my strong point!
  • Good call CL - I never did that with Izzy and really should have. It is only recently that we have had an agreement that we each get a lie in on the weekend.

Dribble, she had been sleeping in our bed because it was the easy option at the time and her daytime naps were all either cuddled to sleep then placed in her bouncer, in her pram or in the car. I just decided that if I didn't get her into her cot now it would make our lives more difficult in the future. My sister let all her children sleep in with her and it's like musical beds in her house. Her children are 7 & 8 and one will get in with her and her DH in the middle of the night, then DH gets into their bed. Then the other child gets into bed with him. Everyone wakes up in different beds. She doesn't mind, but I wouldn't want that.

For you co-sleepers.. my brother was 13 before he went in his own bed.

DD3 was 6 and that was only because the younger 2 took up too much room and she kept getting accidentally kicked off the bottom of the bed ... oops..

TCs - they don't always base it on the previous year if your income this year is less. Our current payments (well, for 10/11) were based on our actually estimates for earnings total 'til April 2011. I just worked out a projected income for us both and gave them that figure. I'm a bit stuck now, as since I'm not on mat leave anymore (obviously), our income for 11/12 will be a bit higher but I don't want payment to decrease, wahhhhhh. (am going to wait, as DH will likely be changing jobs so might as well wait until then to inform - f course by then they will tell me to wait until the renewal form...ours came in JULY last year!)

    Morning

Been busy so not kept up the last couple of days :o

I watched a film called Whip It last night. It was about lasses skating in roller derbies. Now I've got the urge to buy roller skates and find a team :o

Taking Charlotte to her friends party at a soft play centre this morning. I'm still getting headaches from my op, so I hope it's not too noisy :o

Have a good day all xx
Here I go again on my own....
  • Morning :)
Do babies get hayfever? Tigger has been quite snotty and sneezy past few weeks but doesn't seem to have a cold (I think).
Speaking of which, he's napping at the other end of the room and I've just sneezed rather loudly.
I just got 'told off' :p for being noisy and he promptly fell back asleep after that.
Hope everyone is having a nice morning.
