Rach, DD will only sleep on her own if she's on her tummy, sometimes face down too, at 11 weeks it is very worrying, but daddy lets her when he puts her down in the evening on the sofa while I am cooking and we have dinner.

The weird thing is she hates tummy time, as soon as we started doing it she learnt to roll over, despite being only 8 weeks old at the time.

Rach - E always sleeps on her side or front now, I roll her back but she just rolls back on to her front again. She is very cute in a morning though, she lifts her head to see over the bumper and gives a big grin when she spots us in bed :D.

Pigpen - hope you get a peaceful week soon.

Just been at the nursery for Erin's mini marathon (raising money for one of the nursery workers who is running the marathon). It was great, they had set up a course with 2 hay bales, a soft play pyramid and a mini bar hurdle, I must have gone round a hundred times with Erin :) It lasted an hour but Erin was still going at the end :D Now I feel guilty for leaving her but I don't often get baby free time and I desperately need some new shoes for work so I'm off shoe shopping :p

  • Hi everyone. Have been very busy with keeping flat tidy for viewings, applying for jobs and tesco dtd. (plus mega busy at work, so wanting to collapse at home when I get the chance!)

Haven't read back very far (just this page, but will go have a peek further in a mo) Giz I think they base it on last years income but then recalculate at the end of the year based on your actual income... so would still be worth doing? We still get tax credits this year, but only the family bit. We were getting £220 every 4 weeks towards childcare. Which is a lot to loose :( We can both get tax credits which makes up for about £140 of it, and will be slightly better off this tax year with the tax threashold increasing and NI limits changing (we both earn below the point where you end up better off not worse off with both tax and ni).

She's 4 months old. She never sobs (red face or tears). It's more a whinge or a shout for attention. We made sure she had a dry nappy and was fed when we put her down to sleep and I fed her twice during the night (she is BF) just to make sure she wasn't hungry.

I think by this point you know your child well enough to recognise if it is an "I'm hungry/hurting/distressed" cry or a "I'm trying my luck" cry. If it is the latter, and you have ruled out all the options in terms of temperature/nappy/whatever then I would be tempted to leave to cry for a little bit, but you feel that the crying is moving towards the distressed end of the scale then obviously it is time to do something! There is a big difference between "crying it out", or even contrlled crying, and teaching baby to go to sleep in the cot - trust your instincts though. If it doesn't feel right to you then don't do it - it is you that is lying there listening to it after all!

Charlotte went through a tummy sleeping phase and survived! Try not to worry xx

I think once baby can roll it isn't worth worrying about - after that point it is no longer up to you really!

Thanks Ladybird. I'm now certain after this week that she is just playing me to get into our bed. How early they learn!

Has anyone ever donated breastmilk? I'm thinking about it.

I am planning to, I just need to get around to expressing and i never have much luck. As a mum who will be eternally grateful that ds received donor milk in scbu I would say do it :T

    hope everyone is ok.

we've had a better day after a better night, only 2 wake ups 7pm-6.30am which is amazing here! So L is happier today, I've also been a bit more aware what solids he's having and his poos seem less hard and he's bf more again which is all good.

Am trying to source a plastic booster for our holiday next week as the highchair in our friends house is not idea for L at this stage. Trying to get as good a bargain as poss, prob go second hand as it seems silly paying almost £30 new when it won't be used loads!

dh is on his way home, hopefully we'll have a stress free weekend!

    Hi,
Not been on for ages but thought I'd reply here -I have, my milk bank is the one on the breastfeeding program on bbc the other day.
I had to have a blood test, and they gave me loads of bottles. I kept it in the freezer til I could take it in.
I think your baby had to be under 6 months when you start but not sure why. Was not entirely altruistic as I had so much so expressing it made me a lot more comfy and baby wouldn't entertain a bottle at that stage.

I'll be interested to see how you get on with your baby not coming into your bed- I think I want to get mine into her cot all night, but don't really have the energy to do it, it's so easy to bring her into bed and feed her and just keep her there rather than face the tears.

i think that the 6 month rule is variable according to milk bank as mine don't seem to have it!

dribble, again i'd recommend the no cry sleep solution as there's some stuff on there about how to get them into their own beds/get them to sleep through when cosleeping. think i'd cosleep much more if we have another, happens quite a bit now but never did when he was small, i guess as he was right next to me in the moses basket, now in his own room so if he's unsettled it's less tiring to have him in bed than be up and down like a yoyo!

The 6 month rule is because newborn breaktmilk is different to older baby breastmilk so is unsuitable for tiny babies. They don't have a milk bank here.. :( I could have fed about 12 babies when I had DS3
