How do you make formula? Very interesting!

from the powder in the tin I'd guess.. but it is for some reason being suggested she buys the extortionate ready made up stuff rather than use her own water..

OK I'm totally stupid!! I thought she meant she made her own formula, with powdered cow's milk or something! Ignore me! I feel like an idiot now!

On another note. Does anyone let their baby cry? I always lift my LO if she cries and I have been bringing her into bed with me if she cries in her cot at night (and she goes straight to sleep in our bed when she won't sleep in the cot.) Last night I decided she needs to learn to sleep in her cot and spend half the night leaning over the cot stroking her face as she cried. Any opinions?

LOL @ CL.. blonde is a state of being not a hair colour..

Mine is left to cry when I know she is fed, clean, cuddled, juiced, watered, milked, entertained and otherwise sorted.

Is she warm enough in the cot? She may just need an extra covering.
I never really left any of mine to cry and cry.. apart from DD1 who cried regardess of what anyone did or didn't do.. solidly 24/7 for months on end.. she was the child that made me be sympathetic to those people who just snap and hurt their baby (not the ones who are just evil) she was very nearly launched out of the bedroom window on several occasions!

    How old is she?

She's 4 months old. She never sobs (red face or tears). It's more a whinge or a shout for attention. We made sure she had a dry nappy and was fed when we put her down to sleep and I fed her twice during the night (she is BF) just to make sure she wasn't hungry.

I'm sure she is warm enough. The room is 18 degrees and she has a growbag and a fleece blanket over it. She couldn't be too warm, because when I lift her into bed with us she has the growbag on plus our quilt over her.

lol.. sound like it may just be attention seeking then.. does she have 3 sucks of boob and goes back to sleep? Could you make sure she goes back in her cot after midnight snacks? Makes waking less appealing if you are put back in the cot you can't use mummy as a dummy then.

I do put her straight back in her cot after feeds, but she wakes in about an hour and realises she's not in our bed and whinges. On the few occasions I've taken her straight into bed with me and kept her there all night she has slept for 9 hours straight.

I was thinking more she was cold tbh.. might be worth trying an extra blanket

I do :o I feel like a terrible mum as I spend a fair bit of time on a natural parenting forum (because of the washable nappies) and they seem very anti CIO. I've not done it in a while though as 99% of the time her crying has been solved by a nappy change/feed/cuddle/wind. But especially in the early days she was crying for 3 - 4 hours in the night every night and it didn't stop no matter what we did. After a week of that we tried just leaving her in her moses basket and after 15 minutes she fell asleep for the night (until the next feed). Each night it took less and less time to the point where if she now has a nappy change and a feed before bed she goes into her moses basket awake and falls asleep herself with no fuss.

I had my 3rd mum and baby class today - was a bit of a waste of time - about play and development but there was nothing new there. Went to the pub with the other mums and babies after which was nice and I BF in public :j I'm wondering what I did different as DD didn't spit up or puke at all after that feed (for the first time ever). However now I'm home she's puking up lovely again :)

I picked my 6 y/o up from school and she had a note saying she had had a cold compress on her knee.. apparently 2 boys from year 2 had grabbed her by the arms and one of them kicked her in the back of the knee so it has a huge red mark and bruising 5 hours later.. she has severe hypermobility so is struggling to walk now with the pain and swelling.. I have given her ibuprofen and hopefully it will help.. I am so angry!!

That's a horrible thing to happen. Hope she is ok now xx

I hope the parents have been told and the boys have been told it's not acceptable.

Had mixed reactions with incidents at school. One boy was biting others including one of mine, so I told the teacher and she said others had mentioned it. She told his Mam, although she didn't say which boys he'd bitten, and they did some group work in class talking about how you shouldn't hurt other people. That nipped it in the bud, but the boy told his Mam he'd bitten Josh, and she was mortified and made several apologies to me as she was mortified.

Another boy was bullying Josh, so I tried to sort it out with the mother first, but she claimed Josh deserved it as he was scum being dragged up by a single parent  School sorted that out as well, but I still get filthy looks whenever I pass the woman, so I just do my super confident walk and blank her which I know annoys her as she wants a reaction from me :rotfl:

It depends on the cry. If it's a harsh cry and I think they needed changing/winding/feeding etc., then I would lift them and try and find out what the problem was. If it was just a chewing on and fighting sleep cry, I'd let them chunter on until they dropped off or it turned into a harsher cry.

Been back to the doctors as Josh is still getting pains in his knees. Saw the lovely doctor who's given him a thorough examination and said it's probably just growing pains and it's very common in his age group. He's just got to take painkillers when it's hurting and go back and see him if anything else develops like swelling or the pain gets unbearable.
Here I go again on my own....
