I think the current recommrndation is milk solely till 6 months unless they show signs like smartie and merfe mentioned then can start at 17 weeks. I guess it what fits with u and your lo.
No, the official advice is to wait until six months. But many health professionals disagree with it and will give the previous advice of any time you think they seem ready from 4-6 months.

many health professionals probably disagree with it because they can see hungry babies that are not satisfied by milk. And see many babies who improve with certain issues once weaning has started.

Well I fed Bob at 3:30 today and he was alot happier with it, had his bath a little early as he seemed tired again but then he managed to spend the next 30 mins watching DD and DS ride round the garden on their bikes so went to bed at his normal time. Have put him in his big cot as I think he may be stirring in the moses basket because its too small.

Then we had a power cut and I couldn't do his bottles eek. Power is back on now obviously so I'll sort them in a bit. I do have a box of the disposable bottles for when we are travelling and always have some ready made milk about so if the power stayed off it wouldn't be the end of the world. DD and DS were amased at what did and didn't work - 'mummy mummy the tele isn't working' ' mummy the toilet won't work' ' mummy is the water electric'. Then when it came back on we had to check everything worked - the fridge, the lights everything.

Sorry Susan that's what I think I said or certainly what I meant to say! I still think it is a big confusion and you need to do what is best for you and your baby. It seems that all our babies seem happy whenever we or health professionals decided to wean them, anyway that's all I will say on weaning!

Why did you have a powercut Merfe? Bless them trying to work things out like a school lesson!

    morning all

Haven't a clue sir monster but there were house alarms going off all over the place. DD even tried to get out of going to bed because of it - I don't want to incase there is another powercut. It didn't work lol

We were up at 5:50 this morning - I really need a new watch. Just burnt myself in the shower too, silly elbows knocked the shower knob to scalding hot then I nearly fell over trying to get away from the heat.

Hope everyone else had a better morning than me x

    Morning!

Yesterday went ok. They said I was third on the theatre list when I rang the day before, but when I got to the hospital yesterday the first two people had cancelled as they had colds, so I was first down. That made it better as I wasn't sitting around for long.

It was all over and I was awake again by 10.30am. They let me lay for a about an hour and come round, and fetched me some toast and coffee that I kept down. I'm normally sick with anaesthetic, but they'd given me a few anti-sickness drugs while I was asleep and I just felt a little nauseous.

They sent me to put my clothes back on but when I was leaning to put my socks on, blood gushed out my nose! They stopped it and said I had to wait in a lounge until 5pm in case it happened again but thankfully it didn't so I was allowed home.

Nose is swollen and painful this morning and I've got a watery discharge from it. I'm supposed to be wearing a gauze moustache but I've take it off as it wasn't very comfy.

Just taking it easy for a few days now and hopefully I should be on the mend soon. Got to wash it all out with saline later and not looking forward to that!

Had an email to say Charlotte has a place at the Catholic primary school from September so I'm really pleased she got in.

Hope your day gets better Merfe and hope everyone else has a good day xx
Here I go again on my own....

glad it went well, here's to a speedy recovery xx

Bob is sleeping and is gonna miss baby bounce and rhyme. Another good reason not to bother with any of the baby classes that you pay for termly, would be such a waste every time he is ill and can't go or just decides to sleep instead.

Found my camera plug charging thingy so that is charging ready to take loads of pics of things to list on ebay at the weekend. I've written myself quite a long list of things that are lying around and never used so I don't forget anything and I think I can easily make the money for ireland now.

    Morning all :)

Really glad your op went well Becles :)

Sorry you are having a 'messy' morning Merfe, hope it gets better, it is Friday after all :)

Well we had a good night for now, only needed a feed at 5, then back to sleep until 7.30 :)

I have managed to get his little feet very dirty today, putting foot prints in Grandmothers cards :) And he is currently chatting away on the mat and thinking of having a nap.

I have another dentist appointment today, to hopefully sort out my last broken tooth. Then we are off to Pixiphoto at Debenhams tomorrow for some pictures. Really looking forward to getting some professional pics of the little man, we postponed from last week as William had his cold. It cost 9.99 and we get one photo included and then a voucher book for any others. Not sure we will buy any more, but then if they are good we may be swayed. But yesterday a friend said she was very good a taking pics and she would love to come over and do some pics of William so that would be great too.

Hope you all have a good Friday :)

4-6 months certainly seems more sensible than 6 months since all babies develop at different rates etc. but apparently (according to the British Dietetics Association) when the advice was 4-6 months most health care professionals took it to mean that all babies should start at four months. But since most people ignore the advice anyway I guess it doesn't really matter.

Its interesting to know susan thanks, I don't ignore any advice I take it all on board then do what I think best. But since I do everything I'm not supposed to it probably does seem I ignore advice. I do try the proper ways first and with DS they worked fine but DD and Bob just would not follow the rule book, they like sleeping on their fronts and eating food what can I do lol

leopard lady I did pixi photos with the first 2 and they were always lovely photos. I really want to get something done with Bob but since he is still not very smiley esp with strangers and I can't afford to at the moment I shall have to wait. Step mum does weddings and postcards so I wonder if she might do something when we go to visit. She didn't do either of the other 2 but she must have all the right equipment if she does weddings.
