DD3 was exclusively bf until 11.5 months. DD4 was 10 months.
I think I have only given 2 of mine food before 6 months.. DS1 cos he was a pig (it was 12 week start for weaning then too) and Squeak.. cos she is also a pig! lol..
Noisy baby still has no teeth.. I can see them and feel them in the gums but they are just not coming through.. i might have to give her rocks to chew on!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
I'm wondering if Susan meant
Last time I checked, about 1-2% of people hadn't started weaning before six months so the proportion of people who start later than six months will be extremely low.Any question, comment or opinion is not intended to be criticism of anyone else.2 Samuel 12:23 Romans 8:28 Psalm 30:5

Not always a rush just really hungry babies sometimes - or sometimes people are advised to start sooner like if little suffers with reflux. I waited with DS and it was so much easier so that was my intention this time too esp since we are going away in a couple of weeks - so much easier to only have to deal with bottles but little man had other plans. In the morning he literally drains his 8 oz bottle and is ok for about 30 mins then is looking for more food and he also has some tea as he has a bottle at 3pm and is wanting more at 4ish. Purees aren't really that much bother, I just puree whatever veg we are eating that day, or do a bit of sweet pot or just mash up a banana, I don't freeze anything because DD would never eat anything that had been frozen then reheated.0 -
And I've just spent 3 hours in the kitchen doing baby slop and then dinner for everyone else... and my back is snapped I want to blub like a baby and OH is in an @rse aain for some unknown reason.. I asked and he said 'You what what'... oh.. ok... My esp is obviously malfunctioning!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0

I think its a mix of peer pressure and excitement, I gave Chris food at 5mths for no real reason other than it was something new to do and lots of well meaning family n friends were badgering me about it.0 -

Alice never showed any signs of needing it so I started at seven months because I figured I ought to at some point.Any question, comment or opinion is not intended to be criticism of anyone else.2 Samuel 12:23 Romans 8:28 Psalm 30:5

It just varies from baby to baby, the same as they all walk at different ages, talk at different ages and so on.
You were supposed to start weaning at 4 months when I had the boys, but Josh seemed content with milk and showed signs of being ready about 5 months.
James was a very hungry baby and the doctor advised me to start at 3½ months as milk obviously wasn't enough for him.
With Charlotte the advice had gone up to six months, but I knew she was ready just after five months so I started then. Here I go again on my own....0 -

This is what I think too, like when have you started and you seem a bit slow if you wait. Rach was telling me about a women she met in a group who just gave her dd a rusk before 4 months because she just felt like it!
I can understand if you are thinking that they are hungry and draining bottles, maybe it is different if you are bfing and your body just adapts to produce more?
I just didn't rush as enjoyed being the only source of food and he seemed satisfied, but knew at 6 months we should start getting more nutrients into him but still bf too.
Is interesting re all the changes of advice of weaning through my local children's centre I have been given 3 leaflets and they all say something different, no wonder we are all confused.Thomas born 28/08/2010 weighing 5lbs and 4ounces, small but perfectly formed :j:j Now weighs 19lbs and 5 ounces
