Can I have some advice please on when to introduce snacks and what best to introduce?
T is 8.5 months now and over the last few days he seems to be struggling to get from breakfast to lunch - he gets really whingy and clingy but perks up as soon as he's had his lunch. I followed the Annabel Karmel meal plan (pretty much) which doesn't include a mid morning milk feed, I don't really want to introduce one as I'm finding too many feeds very confining and I can't express enough to cover it if I leave him with someone. (if he asks for one he gets one but I don't want it to be a habit iyswim) He can't have formula or cows milk as it triggers eczema and we're not at the dietician till next week to find out about what milk he can have.
I'd just like some examples of what you were doing with your little ones at a similar age? He's pretty good with finger food but has no teeth. I don't want to fill him up with a snack and then have him not eat his lunch. He has a breastfeed mid afternoon but I've managed to miss that out by leaving a fruit pot for him to have. He struggled with his tea that day tho.Mummy to Thomas born April 27th 2010 8lb 5oz0 -
K has a mid morning yoghurt or some fruit. Maybe a banana or half a dozen strawberries? He has cheesestrings or some crisps sometimes too. What time is lunch? Can you bring that forward a bit if a snack doesn't help?0

We're avoiding dairy for his eczema so unfortunately yoghurts are out. I've got loads of fruit in at the moment tho so I might try that. He had half a banana with his brekkie so I'll perhaps try giving him the other half. We were having lunch at 1 but I brought it forward to nearer 12 but he's whingy from 11ish so I think that's when he needs to have something.
Does/did K sit at his highchair for his snack or would you put him on a blanket/towel on the floor?Mummy to Thomas born April 27th 2010 8lb 5oz0 -
Depends on what I'm doing really. Snack in the highchair if I'm busy in the kitchen or whatever. Just on the floor or sitting on the couch otherwise.0

How are you all doing with your resolutions?
My cash only challenge is going ok, still hoping to get to mid-march without putting anything on debit/credit card.
DH spends £5 a week on tai chi and I spend £1 a week on playgroup so that's £60 gone, leaving £23.22 for food and fun for 9 and a half weeks. So I may well need more inventive ideas like the ace cabbage tarts

A bag of rubbish has gone out every dayI have bought no toiletries and am a decluttering fiend at the moment. I still can't knit and haven't used my sewing machine this month yet but I will.
What weird and wonderful ingredients do you need help with?

gill - our mid-morning snack is usually a (homemade) cake of some sort. I make carrot cake, muffins, scones or some other random thing. If we're out of any of those, then I go for breadsticks. He eats so much fruit with meals that's why we do cakes for snacks (just in case anyone thinks I'm feeding my baby junk). You could also go for a plain biscuit - CM often gives for snacks. I've never had a problem with hunger this way...occassionally he'll need something in the afternoon, but weirdly he's generally okay going from lunch (12) to dinner! (5)
We eat brekkie at 7am and lunch at 12 noon, if that helps. He gets the snack whenever he wakes up from his morning nap - somewhere around 10/11ish. No milk, just water(daytime milk was dropped around 10 months - he has milk first thing and at bedtime).
eta: forgot to say, snacks are given to him while he plays on the floor. Crumbs then hoovered up afterwards. To us, highchair is only for mealtimes IYSWIM.
