Hmm. Lentils as dahl with rice? You could add the kidney beans as well. And capers ... hmm, kidney bean and cheap meaty stew (Husband suggests a meaty bone in a primarily bean and veg stew but with capers in cooking and as decoration at the end).
dahl is already on the meal planner once a weekish made with my red lentil stockpile :o

Do you think a frugalised this with rice instead?

Please thank your DH and say I am thinking of ham hock with the kidney beans and onions. Or liver if I can't afford the ham hock. Ox liver is cheapest here.
    :)

Weezl, I think that would be a bit of a texture nightmare with rice. But if you cook them and add chopped fried onions, chilli powder and cumin/garam masala they'd be yummy. You could also cut out the garam masala and add chopped tomatoes to make a chilli-type dish that would be good over rice.

Edit: I forgot to tell you how my !!!!!! meeting went :D
I'm getting a free outdoor boudoir shoot and the photographer suggested a really lovely location in the woods. We're just waiting for snow! I'm going to get my makeup done at a department store counter too so I'm all sexy-like.

right ho! more of a chilli then :)

Was also thinking of refritos frijoles and tortillas as another meal to use up a load of the dried kidney beans.

I think If I make 5 meals of that I'm nigh on clear til march :D

Evening all, been lurking for past few days but never seem to get the chance to reply, the joys of a manic house lol.

Took E to be weighed yesterday, we went to the surestart centre to weigh and play. It was the first time we have been to that one, we arrived 5-10 mins after opening and were number 8 - it took us 1 hour to be seen! Got to take her back in 3 weeks as she has dropped on to the line below, I'm not worried though but HV just wants to re-check her weight gain.

Felt a bit out of it at the baby clinic as no-one really made any effort to speak - half of the women all seemed to know each other and the other half were dotted about in between so it was hard to strike up a conversation with anyone. Seems these places are still as cliquey.

Delain - I had the Polly with ds and dd1 and it was a nice highchair, although a nightmare to clean. Lasted well and I liked that it reclined as sometimes they would nod off in it. We've been looking at the happy snack chicco one this time as its cheaper (on offer in Mothercare at min) but the Ikea one was highly recommended on the FB page.
