    morning everyone x

mad I don't know my older 2 didn't have bottles after they were one but they were not fussy about cups. I know some that will only drink out of certain cups etc. I think because they were drinking out of cups I didn't measure how much they had and possibly they had less but also earlier in the evening downstairs, the when we went upstairs it was brush teeth, get changed then story. Is he drinking anything else close to bedtime too? for example a drink with dinner, if so you could try giving this one a little earlier like before dinner. With feeding themselves I would not be concerned at all, my daughter would sit at the table with a crayon and paper for hours from the age of 1 but my son wouldn't even pick one up till he was nearly 4 and picked it up and drew a boat they are just all different but do it all eventually. My son would still quite happily be fed now if I did it and sometimes I do without thinking opps.

Well Bobs has been doing every 3 hours the last 2 nights, I miss the 5-6 hours he was going last week, I'm obviously not getting enough in him during the day. The thing is sometimes in the night he doesn't even seem awake but fussing and crying with his eyes closed, he is hungry though. Oh well I just keep telling myself it gets better.

Pleased Susan is feeling better. Send her my love xx

Ladybird - Charlotte says actually a lot. I've no idea why!

    Morning MadWoman

I think from that age, Charlotte was just having a small sippy cup of milk before bed. You could try reducing the milk and see if that helps.

Do you make sure his willy is pointing down when you put the nappy on? I have boys too, and if I didn't tuck their willy down, it leaked out the top of the nappy!

You could also look at putting in a nappy booster pad. They're for washable nappies really, but it would give something extra to absorb the wee.

I would try letting him feed himself if he wants to. It'll be messy, but he'll enjoy it. You could try giving him mix of finger foods and spoon food.

Still really busy with work here. Some stuff was delayed with couriers, so all my routes have been messed up. Going here, there and everywhere as stuff arrives!
Here I go again on my own....
  • Morning! Remind me not to stay at NCT meetings until after midnight when I have to be up with H in the morning. I am so tired even though we didn't get up till 7am. I might have to sneak a nap in today somewhere.

Lovely quiet day today- we desperately need some veggies as we have none in. I haven't really been cooking since I've been ill, but need to get back into it so will go to the fruit and veg stall today. Not much else planned today, although it would be nice to do rhyme time this afternoon if it's not raining.

    Good morning!

I am just after a few pieces of advice really!

My son is nearly 15 months old and in the last couple of weeks when I have got him up in the morning, he is absolutely soaking wet all over his front, thruogh his cest, pjs and into his sleeping bag! I have tried the next size up of nappies and also different nappies but it doesn't seem to help... Any suggestions?

He still has a full bottle before bed (is this too much?) And also I am unsure when I can stop giving him his bottles of milk... He has one in a morning and one at night. He will drink water from a cup but I can't get him to drink milk from it so am wondering if I could just stop his bottles as long as he gets enough calcium from other sources?! Again any more ideas?!

Finally, when did you start encouraging your LO's to feed themselves? He is fine with finger foods but just wants to bash his bowl and food when I give his a spoon! Is it too soon to be worrying or should he be at least giving it a go now?

Sorry for the long winded post at this tmie of a morning!

    Thanks for reading!

    Mad

Hello! My LO is 14 months and still has one bottle before bed. I'm not in a particular rush to stop it as he has all his other drinks out of a cup, but you may find it helps with the wetness if you cut it down.

Henry is just starting to feed himself with a spoon or fork, but it's still quite messy. Have you tried giving LO an extra spoon so you have one to feed him with as well? I wouldn't be in any desperate rush to get him feeding himself as long as he's okay with finger foods.

A 15 month old needs approx 500mg calcium daily, which can be gained by 2 milk feeds of 6-7 ounces of milk (400ml)

Any foods they eat containing calcium is a bonus, and I'm sure his diet contains other sources of calcium, so I'm sure you are alright :)

If you'd like to post what else he eats I am happy to do a rough calculation of his calcium, as it's something I've done a lot of research about.

  • Hi Madwoman :) No idea about bottles here I'm afraid. Re spoons/forks, I would let him have a go if he wants to, but not worry about it if he isn't. Izzy (2 next week) is a keen cutlery user, but they all develop at their own speed, and I wouldn't think that sticking with finger foods at 15 months is unusual :)

  • Well done Squeak - for tooth and rolling over!

I hope all the poorlies are on the mend - I'm thinking of Susan too. x

MadWoman - L is 17 months and has milk feeds in a cup both morning and before bed. I would think his cup only has 5/6 oz but he doesn't usually drink it all. His nappies do tend to be bulging in the morning, but we have been lucky and not had a leaky on yet. We use pampers baby dry for bed. I would echo what becles said and make sure everything is pointing in the right direction ;)

Also he can be a bit hit and miss with feeding himself with a spoon/fork. Sometimes he'll be fine, although he does have a tendency to turn the spoon before getting to his mouth which results in all the food in the bib and non in Liam, other times he ask me to help - either feed him or to just load up the fork, and other time he'll just abandon the fork and eat with his fingers. I'm not worried, the main thing is he's eating, he soon get the hang of fork etc...

I'm tired today. We tried a duvet for the 1st time last night - a few wake up to be re-covered and a 5:30 wakeup which resulting in an early start to the day. He'll be back in his sleeping bag tonight! Hubby also went back to bed this morning - he's been full of a cold since before new year and there is no sign of it improving yet. H e felt dizzy this morning so rang in sick. I've come to work for a break :D
  • Aargh, it's so wet here! I'm really not in the mood to go out in the rain but I may have a rethink and go to Aldi for cheap veg instead as that would be drier to get to.

Has anyone seen anywhere reduce their diaries yet? I need one but am too :money: to pay full price.
