  • Hi Lee

I've just sent you an e-mail about a refund I am due, and a couple of questions about my new package, as I don't want to waste any more time waiting on your online chat system, and my other e-mails were bounced or apparently ignored. Please confirm safe receipt? Hope you can sort things out.

    Thank you.

    Giles

  • Hi there

I am a newbie on this site after being advised to try here for some resolution from Vodafone.Unsure if I should have started a new thread, maybe someone can advise me!

A friend on Twitter said I should post on here as the Vodafone rep called Lee can usually help but any advise from any member would be hugely useful,

I have had my iPhone 5 for around 13 months now after upgrading my contract with Vodafone. Not long into using it I noticed that the phone would cut off with as much as 20% charge. Occasionally it would go back on for a while (sometimes lasting longer in airplane mode) but most of the time it would show the empty battery symbol.

This was bearable for a while but became more frequent and more of a hassle as I would be out the house for longer periods.

I decided to return it to my local Vodafone shop and from the start it seemed the person I spoke to was keen that I deal through Apple and not Vodafone. When he found out I had it just over a year he took responsibility and sent it for repair.

After a fortnight, I received a very blunt scam stating the warranty is up and it would cost me £190 to repair. If I had not previously received a text from Vodafone on the same number I would have presumed this was a scam such was the bluntness of the text.

I contacted Vodafone Help on Twitter and, so far, I have had little 'help'. From the two messages I have received so far, it appears the person tweeting is very much on the defensive rather than trying to help.

I phoned the Vodafone repairs centre and spoke directly to a helpful, friendly member of staff. Although it was refreshing not to have to speak to the usual Vodafone telesales team using generic scripts, the lady could not help me (even though her truthful, friendly tone and honesty was refreshing).

I think £190 fee to have my phone fixed is completely outrageous and I asked for it to be sent back to me to work out the next course of action. I hope Lee or other forum users can advise me on this. I feel I have a few options.

    1) Carry on accepting the faulty product.
    2) Take it to an independent iPhone 'fixer' although I am unsure how much I should pay (any advice helpful).
    3) Plead with Apple for some help with this common iPhone 5 issue.
    4) Hope that Vodafone take some responsibility and take some ownership for this problem helping a customer of 12 years who pays £42 a month.

Apologies for the length of this post. Again, any help would be hugely appreciated.

    Paul.
