I thought I'd made a mistake once, but I was mistaken.0 -

Drinking in moderation is not dangerous, in fact it can be beneficial to your health in small quantities. Smoking can never be beneficial to your health. Every single cigarette is detrimental to your health. Approx half of all smokers die from smoking related diseases. You can't say half of drinkers die from drinking related diseases.
Sorry, I meant behind a wheel. Your facts are totally true! The amount of people that will have one drink after work this Christmas and drive home. Also, a broken bottle in the street or cans etc are much more damaging than a cigarette butt.

Maybe, but they don't fine you for that.
Fair enough if the poster had replied that, but not sure what your need to was? Are you having a dig because you feel really bad for mother earth, in which case I hope you dont even own a car, or do you just not like the habit and it is your way to take your anger out on us vile smokers?0 -

Yes I know, please read my post somewhere above as everyone has the freedom of speech. I am just merely wondering what your motivations behind the snide comment was.0

I was just talking to my daughter about this thread, she thought of something, what about those people in town squares that feed the birds, they throw bit of bread or parts of their lunch on the pavememt, so with all these street cameras about they have CCTV evidence?
I'm only saying this because it was mentioned throwing an apple core away is classed as litter, I must admit I've done that when fishing knowing the birds or some other wild animal will eat it.
I have as a lot of others have seen people throw away left over takeaway meals, I saw one do it right outside my house not long ago but I didn't get his registration as he was going too fast, I was inside the house, I had to go out and get it off the road it was being driven over by other traffic and it was a mess.
As for the original poster, she admitted she did it and was wrong plus she is going to pay the fine, she made a mistake. She was just advising others as it is easy to do sometimes without thinking so hopefully stopping them from getting a fine too, but a lot jumped on her straight away by not just putting the knife in but twisting it as well.0 -
As far as littering is concerned, I heard a local bobby on the radio who said 'If you wouldn't throw it in your own garden, it's littering' in response to questions about crumbs etc - it seems like a good rule of thumb to me and covers almost every hypothetical situation pretty neatly.0
