A couple of years ago, someone in Ashton-under-Lyne was fined £800 for the same offence."Never underestimate the mindless force of a government bureaucracyseeking to expand its power, dominion and budget"Jay Stanley, American Civil Liberties Union.0

Firstly, I am a non smoker and never had a single puff but you are quite stupid! The young lady who posted the original thread did so to reiterate that this occurs and her husband is facing up to its consequences. You are the type of curtain twitcher that drives me mad. Lets ban children from playing with a ball, lets ban red headed people, lets ban anyone from the streets with body odour...you are quite ridiculous! I feel better now!0 -
It is quite sad that people feel so strongly about a petty thing like ciggy flicking. Obviously something is wrong in their lives, perhaps something they have no control over, that they have to feel so passionately about smokers and their butts!
Personally I enjoy trying to flick my ciggy as high and far as possible, unintentionally probably hitting something or someone!
Sorry in advance.

Tell me about it, I had a nasty incident of road rage happen to me the other day.
I was just having a nice lunch on the move in my car and some guy went totally postal because I chucked out my half eaten pasty, empty yoghurt pot (I licked the spoon clean so kept that) and my crushed can of pop out the window when I had finished.
What is up with these people?
Some people have no sense of perspective :cool:0 -
I bet the tramps are also upset over this too, no more dimps to pick up.0

I read the first page and the last as it seems that this thread went nuts, I agree with people getting fined for dropping litter but the Stalinist approach of some officials horrifies me, I bet any official would not walk up to a nutter from the local sink estate who is wearing a hoodie with a vicious dog on a lead and presenting him with a fine for dropping his risla/crack pipe/skunk.0 -
I used to be a smoker and threw my butts in the gutter or down a drain, living in central London it was hard to find a litter bin as a lot of them where removed due to Irish terrorists hiding incendiary bombs in them (I am talking about years ago) with over zealous officials just place your butts in the bin if it catches fire at least you won't be fined for littering ;o)))0

Pity he admitted to driving and did not say "lets see your proof". FPN is not easy to avoid paying but generally it seems that unless they have proof you were the driver then it probably would stop there.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

So please don't misinterpret my words, I am not miffed at the fine, and at no point have I said we shouldn't be paying it!
I am not misinterpreting your words at all and furthermore have not accused you of not wanting to pay it. However, it is blatantly clear from your original post that you were expressing a certain amount of surprise at the fact that you can get a fine for littering as emphasised by your many exclamation marks.
As someone else has mentioned, everyone is entitled to their opinion. Not all the posts will be what you want to hear!0
