I am not misinterpreting your words at all and furthermore have not accused you of not wanting to pay it. However, it is blatantly clear from your original post that you were expressing a certain amount of surprise at the fact that you can get a fine for littering as emphasised by your many exclamation marks.
As someone else has mentioned, everyone is entitled to their opinion. Not all the posts will be what you want to hear!
Your last comment is irrespective of anything to do with anything! I am indifferent of peoples opinions, and yes they are allowed to give them, at the same time it is my choice if I choose to listen or agree.
The number of question marks was only put there as I was so stupid and dumb (yes I am admitting to this) that I did not perceive this as littering. I was suprised at it, as I said, I have never even heard of people getting fines for dropping things like takeaway wrappers!
I was just shocked due to my ignorance, and if anything it is a shame it has had to come before Christmas but it's our own fault for being so naive. I am not suprised you can get fined for it, I just didn't think they did!0 -
All in all Op - A harsh lesson learnt i think you can agree.."If you no longer go for a gap, you are no longer a racing driver" - Ayrton Senna0

Agreed, and yes, that is it in a nutshell ha ha0 -

Personally I enjoy trying to flick my ciggy as high and far as possible, unintentionally probably hitting something or someone!
Sorry in advance.
:-)
I've been hit in the face with a cigarette butt while following a car on my motorbike, by someone this thoughtless, whether you think its petty or not - I didn't.
If you want to smoke, I really couldn't give a s*** , but when you affect me and my safety then I have a problem with it.
Grow up - and start taking responsibility as there are other people on the road besides you.Don't try to teach a pig to sing - it wastes your time and annoys the pig0 -

And that is really dangerous! There are so many stupid thoughtless people out there, but at the same time, I have had a can thrown out the window when I have been riding and its hit me, so it is not just smokers.
Update - Hubbie has just paid fine so we can now move forward from this very educational period!0 -
Question. What is the difference between Chewing Gum littered pavements and Throwing a cigarette from a car.
Answer, In this day and age of snitching council workers, it is easy to trace a car, and a house for that matter, as it is registered and belongs to someone. The chewing gum is just spat out!
Alas, we have reached an age where the impositions of our masters are lauded down to us the proletariat as some kind of community well being and togetherness. Just as with the carbon tax, speeding fines and et al, they are, in the end, a tax on the traceable for no additional benefit to the community.0 -
Ive never seen so many judgemntal goody goodies in a quite harmless thread.
The op has admitted this heinous crime and got slated by people with nothing better to do.
..let him without sin cast the first stone0 -
Freddie - this is exactly what me and hubby said this morning as we drove past our local train station, the amount of gum there is DISGUSTING. The pavement was almost blanketed with the stuff. Yet there were hardly any butts, and one TINY fag bin that was full. So why are they not fineing these people? As you say, they are not traceable, and I doubt the jobsworths at the council will confront someone. It is easy to pick on the driver as the details are there for them to collect. I really do feel it is one sided and may even see if there is something that can be done to put that point across.
Inforapenny - thank you. It is not like I was adamant I wasn't littering or anything. I really think, like it is easy for the council to send fines to car drivers, it is easy for people on here to attack rather than actually confront someone that is smoking and maybe hasn't realised the person finds it offensive. Smokers are human and the majority of us respect people that dont like smoke near them, just not the ones that are totally bigoted in their ways.0 -
An ex-BF told me a story about this. He was riding on his hog behind a car driver when this happened.
At the next set of red lights, my ex-BF pulled the driver out and gave him a solid kicking....I am a cow so cannot speak Bullshine but I do recognise its smell when I come upon it.0 -
