Hi Y'all, I sent a letter about a month ago to ask for 6 years worth of statements and I just called to chase them up. Of course, they hadn't received my letter(!) but the lady was very helpful and said they have a new system in place where they just send out a list of charges and she'd get it actioned today.
Of course, Halifax have promised to get things sorted before.....
Sorry if this has already been mentioned but it's just to point out that you should probably call rather than bother sending out the statement request letter.0 -

I started calling on a daily basis near the end of my deadline. Just called and explained i was issuing proceedings and wanted to know how far my claim was she said she had until 8 weeks to respond. I confirmed that I was fully aware of this, but the dates she had given me were incorrect and she was due to give me a response by next fri. I would be issuing proceedings nonetheless today, but would she be in a position to make an offer. She asked me to hold and she came back and said she shouldnt but she would make one today. I have to call back this afternoon.
I think its because my claim is now near the front of the queue to be honest.
When did you send yuor letters in?0 -
Hi again its been a while since Ive logged on. GOOD NEWS Yahoooooo Halifax repaid my charges back today.. They paid up within 16 days of my last call where we negoitiated the final settlement amount.
Owed : 2277.00 without interest with interest 2484.55. Received 2374.00.
Thanks to Martin and his site, I would never have got this far without it. Keep going guys you can all do it. I started at the begining and got as far as logging onto the online claim site and they paid.... Good Luck to you all0 -

Hi,
I am about to bargain with the offer they are about to give me if it is not what I want. How did they offer you - with the interest or without0 -
Just called them. A letter is out tonight for 393! I laughed and said definately not - they argued that I was trying to claim more charges than I had on my acc. According to their system I had 721 and i had 767. They are sending out to me a list of charges that are on their system.
So for the offer
1. £393 - Declined
2. £600 - Declined
3. £700 - Declined
4 £721 - accepted.
They were not prepared to give the interest. I could issue but the interest for me is £150.00 and im not prepared to wait another 6 - 8 weeks for Court issuing and defence being filed.
Any suggestions?0 -
Hi All,
there are too many thread under reclaiming bank charges and I don't knowif mine should go under any thred or it should be on its own. Moderators please feel free to merge this with another thread if you feel so. I couldn't find ,uch information about halifax
Halifax charged me 28 pound twice + 30 pound + deduct some interest I earn from cardcash account (how silly they deduct the interest earned by cardcash which isn't anyways earn much)
Thanks to wonderful site I set a claim on 23rd march and haven't heard anything from them.
I sent another letter (19th April)
their fax number was engaged so I called up bank to get the email id. (I am busy and lazy to post the letter)
over the phone I heard the recorded message that FSA gives them 8 weeks to investigate the matter.
I sent the second letter chasing my money back.
Over the phone when I asked CS person on why I diodn't got any acknowledgement she said they sent it to my previous address (mind you I changed the address by over 6 months ago so is this mistake done by intention?)
Anyway I told lady that as far as I am concern I didn't hear anything from Halifax and I sent you a reminder.
She was going through my record and she said that my application is on final stage. Looks like they make a decision and it needs aproval from some big boiss before sendiong me a letter. (you fool we wont give you any money otr something)
Now over the phone I raised my displeasure with the Cs and gave her a hint that I am considering breaking all relations with them. (Me and my stupid big mouth)
I just want to know your opinion
1)How is halifax and what is the average the return?
2)The 8 weeks period to investigate is it true or shall I persue if I don't hear from them in 2 weeks
3)my hint on that I am reconsidering whether to continue relations with Halifax or not will this have any negative impact on my case/
any suggestion is much apericiated0 -
Up to you if you want to wait on them replying to you but if the 14 days that you have given them has lapsed you are entitled to send your next letter or start court action.
I'll shift this into the Halifax thread in a minute where you can read of other user's progress, or lack of, with Halifax.
This post should help with what the banks consider their timescale.

Stick to your timetable of 14 days and send off your next letter at the appropriate time as in the step by step guide in Martin's article below.
