Am feeling really nervous and anxious about this procedure now. I've lodged the moneyclaim etc. Has any bank defended themselves yet? Why am I such a chicken?????THE LONG AND THE SLOW ROAD SEEM TO APPLY TO DEBTS AND DIETS... THE TWO THINGS I WANT TO SEE THE BACK OF...:D0

I sent my first letter to halifax on the 9th February and their reply was, to send me copies of my statements (which I have already). Why are they using delay tactics? At the end of the day, they've got to pay out what they owe0

at last ive received an offer from the halifax. Requested £69 of charges and offered £69,
the interest would have been £11, but as it was my fault i went overdrawn feel id be taking the mic.
theyve sent me something to sign, should i sign it or just phone them and accept offer, will it affect any future claims?0 -
After sending my letter to HBoS to ask for my money back (£745 + interest),I've received a letter from HBoS saying that they're 'sorry to learn you're unhappy with charges applied to your account...........A customer Relations Manager will investigate the points you have raised and you will receive a reply shortly, but certainly no later than 4 weeks........'
So what should I do now?
Wait and see what happens;
Send the 'not happy with response, you've got 7 days' letter;
Do what louloujs did and go through MCOL.
Any advice?0 -
We are about to submit a claim with the Halifax for HUGE bank charges from 2000-2005.We had 5 very difficult financial years.We contacted all of our creditors and they allowed us to pay a smaller monthly amount,as did our mortgage provider.In January 2006 all debts were cleared and payed in full.
Over the years we contacted the Halifax on many occasions to ask for assistance but they could not offer any.Whilt we relise the problem was ours it did not help being charged 15496 in bank charges.
I hop they do not close our account!!0 -
Sounds like you have a year too many in your claim, they will say no to more than six years from now.
Have a read of this thread for claims of more than £5,000

Once again thanks for the advice,
With regard to the method of reimbursement (once again hee hee). Due to the fact that my claim for the charges outweighs my existing balance could I not use the argument that I have, in effect, already paid these off my balance once and therefore be allowed to have the reimbursement as cash and not paid off my balance?
Dan
Sorry to keep going on, I just really need the cash as I'm in a bit of a hole at the moment.
Dan - I honestly don't see any grounds for you to insist on a cheque when you owe them money. Firstly they will probably settle out of court anyway, but if you owe them £x then they will almost certainly have the right to offset this against any credit. The fact that the debt is for something else (ie not charges) won't make any difference. Obviously any excess amount will have to be paid directly to you.0 -
yup, was sent at end of december. got a letter back asking for more time, then another similar asking till end of feb/start march, got the offer on friday. was about to skip second letter and go to court.0
