Hi eveyone, just wanted to check something with yous.
I sent my first letter to the data protection address( I think thats wot it was called,I did get the address from here just cant remember exactly wot it was right now oops), anyway I sent the letter on 1st feb normal post and havent received anything back, I know it can take up to 40 days for statements, but I havent received anything, not even a letter saying they have recieved it.
So I guess Im askin have i totally mucked this up already? or did anyone else not get a letter aknowledging receipt but still got there statements?
Oh and I know im going to get slated for this but I stupidly sent cash in letter as I dont have cheque book and couldnt get to my town centre for postal order, so cant even check that way. Yes I know it was stupid, I was just impatient to get it sent away so guess ill be paying for that!:(

Always send correspondance by registered post. You should wait until the 40 days is up really.Oh and I know im going to get slated for this but I stupidly sent cash in letter as I dont have cheque book and couldnt get to my town centre for postal order, so cant even check that way. It's possible that you letter has gone 'missing'. Unregistered and with cash in, you could find it never arrived. Ironically, by trying to speed up the process, you have probably slowed things down.
Get back on track. Wait until their time is up, then send a registered request with a postal order enclosed.0 -
I started the procedure of reclaiming my charges last year. I sent the second letter (before action) around Aug and they offered me £120 against a claim of £750. ThenI went into hospital for an op followed by hubby having a major op as well (he is still at home). So, now I want to pick this up again but I am not sure if I should just fill in the Moneyclaim form or if I should write another letter to allow them another 14 days before action.
Also, I am always maxed out on my account and have an O/D of £2k. As the charges won't cover that, I am a bit concerned that they might close my account and ask for the remaining balance of the O/D. By the way, I already have another account that I can use if they decide to close my account. I just don't like the idea of them sending in the bailiffs if I can't clear the O/D
Anyone been in that situation?
Any advice will be welcome.
Thanks.0 -
Edinburghlass- sorry for posting my first post in the wrong bit, I did know this bit was on here but couldnt find it for lookin at it.
Nickmack- thanks for answering me I think I already knew that but just needed someone else to tell me. (daft I know) Ill give them til the 12 march then the 40 days will be up and if I dont hear from them then Ill start again with a postal order.
Quickly learning from my mistakes and stupidity- Honest!0 -
Nothing to stop you giving them a ring now to find out if they have your letter and the £100

They've probably forgotten, so I would send them a LBA and include details of your previous correspondance. Since last August, the banks tactics have changed somewhat, so if you haven't already provided a list of charges to the bank you will need to do so.Also, I am always maxed out on my account and have an O/D of £2k. Saying that, it may be better to wait until you can repay your overdraft as the charges won't cover the amount. If they ask you to repay adn you can't you may find yourself with a default or worse.0 -
Spoke to Halifax yesterday on their customer telephone banking service. Was advised the charge for my statements was £5 and it takes about 20 working days for a response. The very nice lady said they were inundated. I got the impression they had problems coping.
I wonder whose job it is to respond to the letters. Maybe I may offer myself part time to the banks.0 -
just off phone to bank and surprise surprise they have no record of receiving my letter. Noone to blame but myself so no point moaning I guess.
Printing off another letter and heading down town to get postal order.
can I just ask 2 small questions- who do I make the PO out to- Bank Of Scotland or someone in particular?
I am hoping to get charges back for my CC as well but dont have any statements here to check account number can I just put the card number on letter? ( the long number on front of card)0 -
just found the thread on here telling me who 2 make it payable 2
think I need my eyes tested as I swear i couldnt see it earlier0
