my partner banks with them and can transfer money at a touch of a button, I on the other hand, when transferring from one account with A&L to another account with A&L have to wait anything up to five days for the money to clear.Alliance & Leicester.
Paid up 14/04/07 Full amount + interest + costs0 -
You might not be able to sleep but I have been on this site all day answering questions so forgive me if I don't answer within 8 minutes.
You can initially phone the bank and ask them if they will refund the charge. If not you can send off the first letter in Martin's article, link in my signature.
Then make sure you transfer money allowing 4 days for clearing.0 -
Thank you......
I am always transfering money though and it always clears immediately so i don't understand why this has happened.
Also, i have just gone back to my online statement and realised that as they took the fine.....my car payment probably got missed today and now ill be charged for that......AND it will now blacken my credit score as two missed payments Grrrrrrr im so angry....
Ooh and sorry for being impatient......didn't realise it was one person answering.......Thanks thoughLloyds TSB Loan £5500 Tesco Loan £11000

Please can somebody tell me what you can actually claim back. I just saw Martin on GMTV and he made it sound like you can only claim certain ones. It may just be me not understanding properly.I would like to know before i send of the letter with the amount im claiming back.

Quick update for you....
Sent letter requesting statements back in December, after several phone calls they finally sent them at the end of January/beginning of February. Sent my first letter off on 7th February, recorded and was received on 8th. Not even had an acknowledgement to the letter, so today I will send the second letter. If there is one thing I have noticed through this whole process its that the Halifax have a habit of burying their heads in the sand in the hope that you disappear!!
My claim isn't as large as some, at £567, but today I will add the interest on too, I have yet to work it all out, but estimate it will take the claim up to around £750. I have a feeling they are just gonna ignore this letter too, just my luck grrrr!!
Anyway, just thought I'd pop in and let you know. I'll keep you all posted on any further developments.

Any Legal experts on here know if the lack of a date on the 2nd letter would have given them grounds to win?

yvonneyoung wrote:Just about to post off a second stage letter claiming around £4500 spread over 4 different accounts with the Bank of Scotland. Managed to bypass the first stage as my husband and I are sad individuals and just happened to have bank statements going back to January 2002 at home, so have spent all weekend sifting through them calculating charges applied to each of the accounts. Will send directly to Head Office and will hopefully receive a reply within the requested 14 days. Will let you know how we get on.
Is there a Scottish Equivalent of Money Claim Online??
Just to update you. I sent letters on Feb 13th and received first, very courteous response relating to joint accounts on 17th and responses to individual accounts on 19th, stating that they have 8 weeks to deal with query but will aim to have at least some sort of response to me within 4 weeks.
Will keep you posted.
Ever hopeful0 -
The 8 weeks they say they have to reply is only a recommendation by FO for them to deal with complaints. Give them a bit longer but then send off your next letter rather than wait 4 weeks.0
