Thx for your help guys, but what is the Halifax head office address that I write to? It is the trinity road one? and do I make it F.A.O. a certain department there?0 -
Hi all
I have just sent the letter of asking for my bank charge list for the past 6 years and i was just wondering what would happen next? I sent it to Trinity Road address, hope this is right? It was also sent recorded delivery.
Also, what can you claim back? All of your charges or just certain ones?
Has anybody used the letters of this site and been sucessful? Im really nervous about doing it to be honest with you, so would like a bit of reassurance.
Sorry for the wimpy post and all the questions.0 -
Me again
Is there alot of people who dont get anything back?

Thanks for the advice.......when you say after much discussion this is what scares me !!!! What sort of things do they hit you with ? i am afraid I wont know what to say and have a valid argument and they will sense this !!!!!!! I am not very good with confrontation but I am determined to see this through so any advice would be much appreciated so I dont turn into a jibbering wreck !!!!!!!!!0 -
Hi all,
To keep you updated from my last post:
Today the Halifax have paid the full amount including interest and court costs of £1,969.15 into my account.
I rejected their offer of £783 by letter as full and final settlement (which they would have got yesterday) but said i would accept it as part payment and without prejudice, but would continue the claim for the balance.
I cant believe i did it, i thought it only happened to other people. It just goes to show that if you are determined, and stick to your guns you will get your money back.
Without this brilliant site i would not have known where to start.
I would like to say a big big thank you to Martin for getting me started, and to Rex mundy and Edinburghlass for their help.
To anyone thinking of claiming their money back GO FOR IT its well worth it.0 -
The bank cannot 'send in the bailiff'. Only the court can do that. In order for this to happen they would first need to take you to court and obtain a judgment against you. Even if that happened you could tell the court how much you were able to afford to pay (usually so much per month) and only if you broke that agreement, or didn't reply to the claim, could the bank ask for bailiffs to be sent in.0

hi i'm a newbie too,
i've been with the halifax for (what feels like centuries) now and would like to ask, if i proceed with claiming unfair charges over the last 6 years what is the likleyhood of my account being closed and as i have a personal loan outstanding, would it be likely that they would request a full payment of the loan?? I already have another (parachute account) open and could possibly negotiate a personal loan with them but does anyone think that this would be necessary??
Hope you can help me out with my query, Many thanx0 -

I tried to claim £70 worth of charges and £192 worth of debit interest. So far I've been offered £70. Am I entitled to claim back debited interest, or should I take the £70?
Accept the £70, you are not entitled to claim back the interest.0 -

Your loan is a separate agreement and provided you have kept up with the payments etc it will be okay.0 -
I am with the halifax and i have everything with them. I have just checked my online account and i have been charged £39.
I phoned the halifax and they said it was because my Sky Digital direct debit failed. I told her that this was impossible as i had transfered £100 on the 10th and the sky doesn't get taken till the 12th. On my statement the £100 transfered on the 10th...........so how the hell did my DD not get paid and WHY ON EARTH have i had to pay a £39 fine WITHOUT NOTICE
I am so angry that my stomach and chest are burning with fury   :mad:Lloyds TSB Loan £5500 Tesco Loan £11000
