I find cyclists to be a terrible chore , when I go out for my walks , they whizz past me at a very fast speed , and it gives me a shock.

IMO they should never be on a pavement
I wish they had number plates so I could report them. Especially when it's adults/teenagers nearly running Alice over - she's had a few close shaves. Makes me very

Nigella and I are not speaking at present after she made me soak sultanas and cranberries overnight. The tiny test cake is about to be tested, reporting back will be imminent.

Wee Beastie is still on hunger strike :(

That has happened to my dad a few times, although not so seriously. Years ago (1992) someone had a heart attack and drove into him and a bout 2 or 3 years ago someone pulled out of a side street (the other side of the road to him) on a long straight road so no way she wouldn't have seen him if she was looking properly. He has pretty much lost the use of his little finger from that one, but at least it was only his finger.

    Scary stuff!
My Dad's a motorbiker and the amount of times he's ended up in hospital through drivers turning right on him... Well it's 3... But the last one nearly killed him!

My little brother too...Scares me, I don't know how his wife copes!! Still, he rang yesterday to tell me he's got a new job just by his house which makes me feel better :)

My intergestion would rival that of a stable of healthy horses. Wee Beastie seems intent on giving me tetanus though, she's constantly scratching me with grubby fingernails. Yes, I could wash her, but that seems to be missing the point.

We're much the same way Glad, but that amount on one meal we had to make ourselves would be a special occasion meal.

    it was :)

DS girlfriend came round for dinner for the first time and he wanted to cook her that

last night we had Jamie's Mustard chicken and potatos dauphanoise with greens (we didn't make the sweet), didn't cost it as I had most ingredients in but a rough guess would be £6 for 2 people

some of the recipes can be found on the Ch4 website to save on buying the book

Susan you may have already decided to make chutney but I just saw this thread and thought of you

FIL lost his leg in a motorbike accident
  • DH bought a motorbike ages ago to do up, and it still doesn't work. Although I'm annoyed at the wasted money I'm relieved that he isn't riding about on it iyswim. Scary stuff.

Speaking of acidents, we got home today to find an ambulance, fire engine and police car at the end of our close. There had evidently been an accident, which I can only assume involved a padestrian, seeing as it is a road where a car accident wouldn't cause that much drama (winding road with speed bumps that just goes through a housing estate) ... would damage the cars, but not enough to require that much clearing up iyswim. They all look very serious, so I was hoping to bump into the caretaker to find out what was going on (he is a gossip and also a reserve firefighter, so would know) but he wasnt about. I hope it was no-one I know involved :( (not that I would wish terrible things on strangers either, but ykwim)

those little custard tart thingees he made with the piri piri chicken looked really yummy, too. And more frugal on the ingredients! :p

Finn has an eye for the ladies, better keep him away from Ms Nigella & her fairy light addiction. ;) But her dead-simple lemonmushroomthyme spaghetti is divine.

I turned over just in time to see him making these... The half tonne of cinammon caught my attention... I might have a go at making them... And maybe the feta potatoes... But Hubby wouldn't entertain piri piri of any description... He's a big girl when it comes to spices...
