She'll normally eat fairly well but it's unpredictable. After four days of eating three teaspoons worth of cereal for breakfast I made her four teaspoons full and she insisted on eating more, but the next day I made her 2/3 of a normal portion and she was back down to picking at it.

She's nursing a lot more because she's sick but I don't think milk would fill her tummy for a couple of hours now she's a bigger beastie?
Alice can be a bit like that. If she's been eating small meals then I'll reduce what I offer her to start with and then if she's been wanting more than it goes back up. I think when Alice was Molly's kind of age we had lots of things which were easy to do in variable portions such as cubes of cheese or raisins and things like fruit we would give half or a quarter of it to start with and if she didn't eat it all either put it in the fridge for another time or OH would eat it.

Thanks Susan :) I'm ok it's just the little man who isn't but he is still smiling which is lovely :)

Makes me so thankful to my mother who went thru all this with me... And then I turned into a horrible teenager! Poor her!

Thanks Susan. I worry more because she's ill - normally a plate with chunks of cheese, apple, sultanas, peeled grapes, sausage etc disappears quickly but at the moment I'm trying to get soft cold things (yoghurt, frozen banana chunks) into her to soothe her throat and she just loses interest, and since she's snotty I want to limit dairy.

I didn't think you had colic :p I meant hope you're okay because it must be hard work having to deal with all those things at once including OH being away.

  • Morning everyone. Firstly hugs all round for poorly babies. Mine still has his rattly chest even though his anti b's have finished now. Hope he's better today otherwise it's back to Dr tomorrow.

My grandad had a heart attack on Friday night so has been a weird weekend. He's ok so no need for hugs and the like. Also Friday nigth someone tried to break into the house opposite us at the back. We were out so didn't see / hear anything, just got woken up by police knocking on the door saturday morning. Then Saturday night DH was out and so I was in on my own hearing imaginary burglars all night. Now today I have woken up with a stinking cold. Again. So feeling a bit sorry for myself today, sorry for the moan :o

As for this thread being cliquey - I really don't think it is. Obviously some people are here more than other, have been here longer than other, have more things in common than others, etc etc. Just the same as starting a new job or such like, but I think new people here are always welcomed with open arms. Things get missed sometimes, but such is life. And if anyone doesn't really like it here they don't HAVE to come back *shrugs*

I recently joined the Flylady thread. Nobody knows me on there, a couple of people have responded to things I've said but not many people and that's just fine. They don't know me, perhaps don't have anything to add, haven't noticed etc etc. They talk a lot to each other but I don't see it as being cliquey, I think it's nice that they have all got to know each other.

I tend to figure they'll eat what they need. If Alice is ill I'll give her more options and let her eat something else without finishing what she's already had but I figure if she's not eating she probably doesn't need to. Although last time Alice was ill, OH made such a big deal o the fact she was drinking lots and not eating that I told her she had to have three bites of dinner before she could have her third drink. Then that evening she was sick. She made up for it afterwards though - she was almost eating a day's worth of food each meal the following week.

  • SJ - Sounds like a difficult weekend, hope you feel better soon.
I agree with you about the thread - I think of this as my support network :) and, like real life, sometimes I feel a little paranoid - like everyone's ignoring me, I'm irritating people etc, but that says a lot more about me than it does anyone else. When I need help, encouragement, sympathy or just somewhere to rant, I find this thread so supportive. It makes me sad that people seem to feel that we need censoring, or find us cliquey.
;) Working hard in the hopes of being 'lucky' ;)

Glad I was in the Arms last night and there were plenty of threads containing unfiltered swear words (the S word completely unfiltered/unaltered was the one I was most surprised about). Why is it that those are allowed to remain? And (please don't delete, I'll edit as soon as I know, can I say !!!! in here and it not be filtered out?)

Apparently not. So there's a different swearing policy in the Arms. Interesting.

    Hi
the swear filter is the same across all of MSE, there are, unfortunately, ways around it by using a different font!!!
I do check all my boards as often as possible and delete the swearing honest :)
being the Arms more swearing is posted so more is noticable until I get round to it

Does this only apply to vote for me posts? Otherwise that's a harsh rule and isn't enforced anywhere else.

    Hi
linking to 'vote' threads, sponsor me sites, personal blogs websites/companies are all not allowed under the rules
    :)
it should be enforced across all of MSE but its impossible for the team and BG's to read every post :o sometimes we spot them and sometimes they are reported
