Morning All,
Clear blue sky so far - but will be changing soon.
puppy - nice to have you join us.:j Can offer no thoughts on the weight gain thing except to say I think it's really common at our age. I'm a stick but only because I can't digest v well. The asthma is grot, specially as cold outdoor exercise kicks it off. I sympathise with the sweating thing when all wrapped up - v annoying and sticky!
Choille - I'm up for the house in spain - Meno Mansion - It would have to be a 'virtual' place to keep costs down - in our imagination only. With the POA for Mum I find myself writing out cheques to me from her that I sign! Could look decidedly dodgy :eek: I keep things as transparent as poss with my siblings, but they don't seem too interested, just grateful it's me not them whose dealing with it all.
I'm back on the caffeine (not vast quantities!) and I think it's making me all headachey AGAIN. Sooooo hard to resist a little cuppa here and there. sod it, I'm not giving up atm, will just live with it.
Hope everyone reading this is doing OK and if you're not HUGS are winging their way over. Be kind to yourselves."Sometimes letting things go is an act of far greater power than defending or hanging on.”0 -
joyful enjoy your coffee!!! i should think your siblings should be happy u are dealing with it all, its hard work when u have a parent with medical problems etc
choille not sure about spain for winter maybe somewhere a bit warmer, my vote is egypt. could u imagine all us hormonal women in 1 hous:eek:....it would be carnage lol
puppy sorry to hear about the weight gain. like choille i have definitely got a thicker waist now . do u feel u are more sedentary now?
i was driving to mymums yesterday, i went onto a roundabout and honestly couldnt remembered if i had checked before i entered it, i almost panicked but i guess i must have subconsciously checked cos it was empty. i hate this i used t obe the most confident of drivers but lapses like this make me more nervous now UGHHH

hi ladies old and new (you know what I mean!)
I'm finding my yogalates type stretching and strengthening the core muscles exercise, helpful in bringing some toning benefits to my middle. Subtle difference only atm, but am definitely noticing some improvements. Need to keep up the momentum in the New Year. I will not become a barrel. (Keeps repeating to self):rotfl:
Monday, went out with DD to a fundraising evening for a young lady who went through school with DD. Her little poem at the end of the page is a reminder to us all to make the most of the moment and count our blessings. A year on, she lives with "locked in " syndrome, was at the event and communicates with her eyes. A great evening for a lovely and courageous young lady and her friends and family.

Bronnie - wow - that is so touching.
Was going to come in here and moan a bit but now i think...whew...Mia is going through such a lot compared to me. Kind of puts things in perspective.
Thinking of you all. Sorry I haven't been here for a wee while but you have never been far from my thoughts and I have been wondering how you are all getting on, how family is, how work is going, how you are managing to survive the cold, Choille.
Good to have had a read through.
Take care all

Morning Peeps,
It's tropical outside! well above freezing.
How is everyone, not battling too many bugs and stuff I hope.
Shykins - that driving thing when you wonder how you got from A to B cos the mind was either elsewhere or completely absent. eeeek!
Talking about driving, I ventured a 'question' on the motoring board y'day. Most responses were fine but, and I've experienced this before with this lot, a few were downright nasty. It deteriorated to 'you shouldn't be on the road (and that's the polite version!) Honestly WHY do people have to be so aggressive and personal. Makes me appreciate this lovely thread and what warm and unjudgemental peeps you all are.:A:A:A
Bronnie - that girl's poem was thought provoking. :T What inner strength it must build to be in her position. This world is full of true heroines and they'll never be recognised.
Choille - hope you've got a massive wood stock ready. IT'S on it's freezing way.....
wmf - welcome back, we're all here whether we're here or not. Now, was that profound or utter tripe.
Still got h'ache - day 3 or 4 - whatever. Hunky (well younger than me!) fireman came and fitted a free smoke alarm y'day and gave me lots of advice.
Enjoy the day. Make time for a quiet sit down, feet up, 10 mins to please no-one but yourself. Oooohh lovely....."Sometimes letting things go is an act of far greater power than defending or hanging on.”0 -
Hi joyful, sorry you are having headaches. Funnily enough when I had a spell of stopping coffee a few years back I got headaches. I think it ws a withdrawal thing. I'm drinking as much coffee as ever, I am addicted. What I also do is get some hi-juice out of LIDLs, blackcurrant flavour & have it with hot water at this time of year. Sometimes I have half of a fizzy Vit C tablet in as well - Boy do I know how to live.
When I've made raspberry vinegar I've had that with hot water in the Winter.
My brothers got POA for Mum but didn't tell me - it's all a bad family situation. You intentions will be honourable & it is a lot of work & organising for you.
The snow has really started now - big, fat flakes blowing in.
We have the stove on & wood staked around it & under the caravan for ease & to keep it dry.
Yesterday we got 'big shop' - not that we needed that much as we keep a store box in the shed.
In just a few minutes it's white outside now.
Bronnie - I must google yogalates. I will read the poem. It sounds like a very moving evening you went to. It makes you wonder how people cope with all that life throws their way & how they get on with things.
Nice to have to pop by wmf......
Joyful- hope the headache goes. I had a long one before I got a nasty headcold last month. I get a hedaache if the atmospheric pressure is changing - if it's thundery too.
Keep warm & stay cosy menos.

Hi all,
I've been getting ready for my daughter and son coming down tommorow. Had to clear the bedrooms of all the christmassy stuff that I've put in there...and make the beds up.
I've been feeling a little 'down' again...plus have had a strangely dizzy head today...felt slightly drunk...without the fun bit!
Turning colder here, and quite windy...we're due for snow overnight......brrrrr....gotta go out tommorow too. Im making a Tiramasu and I need to get a few more ingredients...oh well..wellies on I think.:(
Wrap up warm everyone...sleep well.0 -
Hi Dogcat - I get the dizzy head & don't like it & have been down too.
It's been blizzards on & off all day, biting wind out there.
Keep warm & try & delegate chores to son & daughter when they arrive if you can. Be good to you too.
All the best.0 -
Hi ladies.
Gosh, I am late tonight, had just decided to have a final cuppa and noticed the time. Bed soon.
wmf, nice to hear from you again! Enjoy your chatty posts.
Dogcat, choilles right, share the load where you can, esp when you're not feeling 100%. Mums need time to enjoy themselves too. Tiramasu is one of my fave desserts, esp with a drop of booze in the bottom! Are you able to turn a blind eye to stuff or not? I am a self-confessed !!!!!! and can quite happily ignore a pile of washing-up if something more enticing beckons. I know not everyone is like this though and some find a mess more stressful.
Good job with the smoke alarms joyfull. We had ours done last week too, but was at work so missed the hunks!! We get a free service here and good advice too. read your driving thread and know what you mean. I used to get a bit blah about those kind of responses, but now I just ignore it. We're all different and if you read one guy's posts, he answers everybody in the same vein, but some of his advice is pertinent, just rather abrasive, compared to the way we all post. Takes all sorts!
I ffel really embarrassed every time I post on the techie board. I do think and research my probs first, but then just have to ask someone because the penny just won't drop and I've no one else to ask. There are usually really obvious answers, just that I can't work them out! I am just very humble and thankful. This was one of my most dumb moments, if you want a laugh!

Hello there Menos,
Choille - do we need to come and dig you out?Seriously, you must be pretty sick of it. Glue yourself to the stove. The low pressure thing with headaches is very real. I've woken to a headache free zone, so far... & we've just had the low pressure thing move through. Do you cook on your woodstove btw, just curious?
Dogcat - keep your spirits up.:A Days get longer next week. Can we share your tiramisu pleaseI looooove that pudding.
Bronnie - good advice re the motoring thread stuff. :T Had another snipe from that character y'day. Lots of really useful advice which I value though from others. Read your techie thread. Love it.:T If we can keep not taking ourselves seriously, life is definitely more fun.
Got Avon order arriving today. Hope to bag it up & deliver to customers. Praying it's not too icy. Flushes are medium range atm. They come & go in waves.
Hello to all lurkers and peeps too busy or shy or just don't want to post. Stay safe on the roads and paths. Stay warm indoors and be happy deep inside. XXX"Sometimes letting things go is an act of far greater power than defending or hanging on.”0
