I'm not a fan of Christmas, my son is going to a friend's for the holidays, my daughter has been non commital about her plans since I first asked her 2 months ago. Maybe she thinks she ought to go to her dad's this year as she was with me last year. I really don't mind. I'd hate to be one of those martyr parents who make their kids feel bad about it. So I've stopped asking what her plans are now and wait.
haha that's me too. I was actually hoping DD would go to her father's for Xmas, as he has a bigger family there and a LO and they make a deal of it (and I wouldn't have to bother!), however her working hours preclude this, but I am looking forward to it as I have persuaded her and we are going away for 2 nights on Xmas Eve to N.Wales.0 -
:DI am still here. Stll not sleeping well, taking ages to get off, then not being able to get comfy all night. Still have to be bright eyed and bushy tailed for work though, which is not easy.
Deep into xmas prep here too, although off out tomoorow for a girly shopping trip and lunch, leaving DH (who is having a couple of days off to "help";)) to do all the windows and wooden floors before we put up the tree on Sat. He did the brass on the fire yesterday.....and then "pottered"...... Still, shouldnt complain:D0 -
Huuuhhhhh,
So....you are all still here....just being a little evasive...
Glad that you're all ok.
My daughter and son are back home from their Uni's in Leeds and Hereford for Christmas..which will be nice as I haven't seen them for a few Months. I've gotta stock up on loads of food.
My daughter won't be home until Christmas Eve as shes working part time in a shop right up until then.
My son's home next Friday...one of my other daughter's is also staying for the weekend.
Im gonna be busy! Oh well it is nice to see them all.:D0 -
Duh! Not sure if it is the meno warm glows I've got or temperature induced as I've got the early signs of a cold brewing tonight.
Haven't had a flippin cold for the last 2 winters, so am going to try and zap it tonight with a spicy hot curry ...one of my favourites is a citrus dish, it has lemon, garlic and fresh ginger along with the spices, which should all be helpful A hot whisky toddy and a couple of paracetemol at bedtime and fingers crossed I scare it off!0 -
Hi Bronnie,
Sounds good to me....Im on the mend now...but I felt really awful for a few days.
Lets hope the spicy dish does the trick for you.;)0 -
Apparently you can make your 'professional' name by using the name of your first pet & your mother's maiden name.
Mine is Tinker Taylor - which sounds pretty groovey if you ask me.
:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
We used to do the name of your first pet and the first street you lived on which made me Tootsie Fairfax.
Ooh thanks for the giggle! Not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted. Einstein0 -
Morning Menos,
Oh Bronnie - did the killer remedies kill the cold or you! Like the boozy bit.
Good to see peeps are still lurking.
Shykins, Yuggy 5am hot flushes. I thought of you at 5.10am today as I flung the covers off. I fell asleep with electric blanket on the other night and nearly cooked myself. Twas quite dramatic.
I'm off for a Meal Out with boyfriend today. We NEVER eat out so it's a real occasion.. We are going to......... Morrissons!!! Xmas meal for about a fiver. We'll take the MSE tupperware containers to ferret away any leftovers as I don't eat big quantities.
Do hope you all feel ready for Xmas. Delegate or simply don't do it if things feel too much. Us ladies always take the load.
I've created an alternative type Xmas decoration for my window. Huing some tinsle & a few baubles and wound cheapie lights around it and THATS IT. The neighbours have gone all competitive as usual. Men up ladders, HUGE balls ;)hanging about in windows (I'm serious!). Honestly. I'm rebelling and have gone weird.:D
Have a good day XXX"Sometimes letting things go is an act of far greater power than defending or hanging on.”0 -
joyfull how sad that u wake up and think of me lol. quite agree about the decs some people go MAD!! enjoy your morrisons lunch their meals for 2 after 4 are tremedous value
am in full prepartion for DS birthday next week so thats taking over my time rather than chrimbo.
oh and on the name front i would be charlie aintree umm that sounds more rag and bone man than seductress!!!
keep warm all !or should that be keep cool!)When you know better you do better0 -
Hi Bronnie - great that you put your ebaying income towards treats. I am determined now to get the hang of it & will lurk about in the ebay forum on here - long evenings & all that I have no excuse. The PO is walkable from me - so that is good.
That was funny with the handles - splitting them up!
The weather has thawed really massively & we have torrential rain now! Most of the snow & ice is away now - but everything is spongy. We didn't get burst pipes - hurrah! It's supposed to freeze again after the weekend - Grrr.
Joyful hope your back is not as painful & you are feeling fine as I hope we are all feeling fine & not filled with the cold or blues.
Hi shykins - the sweats used to wake me up early too, but they've gone - which is wonderful, so try alternatives if you feel like it - my doc recommended the burgen bread - hope they stay away.....0 -
Hi Spirit - I'm not a fan of Christmas either. We are a bit bah humbug - I send cards but we don't really buy much. I like it when it's all over & feel sorry for parents of young ones and the pressure that they undergo to spend into debt.
Hi Poet - sorry you're still not sleeping right. I put an old eiderdown on top of the mattress - it was lovely and comfy but I woke in the middle of the night with a pain in my thigh - a feather had pierced my skin - t'was like a quill & really was sore! I think I might get a mattress topper & see if that helps. Hope you're having a great shopping day & a lovely lunch.
Dogcat - hope your cold is on the wane & try & get some rest with all the family stuff, delegate if you can.
We used to do the name of your first pet and the first street you lived on which made me Tootsie Fairfax.
Jacks - That's a hot name, yet sounds sorta posh too, quite Jane Austen sounding.
Joyful - Me & OH really look forward to our Morrisson's lunches. We don't really eat out but when we do a 'big shop' we go through to Inverness & always have our lunch at Morrisson's. Sometimes I even have a slice of toffee lumpy bumpy cake - lumpy bumpy cake is the bestest. We pay to park & you use the ticket to get the fee back. I often find tickets out in the car park & I use that as well when I get the shopping - very mean of me but quite MSE.
Hope everyone is feeling okay & staying warm but not too warm.
