    Hi everyone,

It snowed here yesterday.....and was quite windy....but hey ...today the suns out and is shining and melting all the snow! We are forecast more though.

Me and my youngest daughter went late night shopping yesterday...I thought the whole experience was quite a let down...the lights here aren't very good and some of the shops weren't open...I won't be going 'late night' again.:(

Trying to sort through my Christmas prezzies...I still have two family birthdays left before Christmas.
Hope everyones keeping warm and well.

    Hi ladies

Just thought I'd sign in before heading off to work!

Choille, hope you're managing ok. Have you got a stick blender of any sort, or even a sieve so you mush down some hm soups? Most mushy food tends to be bland, ...that would drive me nuts but good for the weight loss I expect!

Managed to get back to the exercise quite well this week. have done 3 classes including"yogalates" which I enjoyed and is really stretching me out again, which feels sooo good! A bit like this stuff, but a bit slower!

I also feel much warmer and invigorated when i get back and generally like being more active than my horrid winter hibernation mode of the last couple of years, so am really working to keep "up" this year!

Anyway, after working late last night, today has been a dressing gown day, catching up on paperwork etc and haven't actually ventured out yet!

Also managing to keep up the plenty of water habit, couldn't possibly manage cold water in this weather, so a pint glass of hot water with a little bit of sugar-free Ribena is helping things along!

My make-up consultation was great! A lovely experienced (and naturally made-up) Clinique lady gave me a mini cleanse and make-up treatment and some samples. Loved the foundation she used, but not happy to look so pale (especially as my hair is still (dyed!) dark. Choille was it you who is using the Dove tan on your face. I've done the same this week (already had a facial tanner) and going to keep it up. Think DD can treat me to a Clinique foundation for Xmas, but will be going back to retest a slightly darker shade now my face is a bit less pale!!

So sad about 2 pensioners, 2 separqate cases, both found dead in their gardens on the news today. We must all keep a daily eye on elderly neighbours, especially those who live alone, at this time.
    Keep warm ladies

Hi Spirit - the aqueous cream is a good tip. I don't have any left myself but am using up what moisturisers I do have. Recently found a tub of vit E cream that was bought in Savers for about 99p it's really good & not harsh or greasy. I've even been putting some on my cracked lips.

Thanks everyone for the good wishes re dentist stuff. It's not been as bad as I thought - just akward really & managing cottage pie, scrambled eggs - that sort of stuff. I have been toddling about getting water for the animals & generally just idling - sloth-like!

Dogcat - sorry that you didn't have a great late night shop. I have OH's birthday in a few days & haven't got him owt but a card & don't think I'll be out again until then - not greatly organised this year.

Bronnie - Yes, I use Dove about twice a week - it takes away that white illuminous road sign look I would have. I just use the lightest one - don't want to turn orange. I also use a pink powder blush at this time - just a bit on my cheeks & chin - light dust with a fat brush, if I'm going to be seen by anyone other than OH! I go about the croft like a right tramp, but like to have a decent front onwhen going out shopping - or wherever.
Your day sounded good Bronnie. I wish I would of managed to put away some cash from stopping smoking - I would go & treat myself. I will in the New Year.

We do check our elderly neighbours - but they are at least a couple, there are two of them. It has been so desperately cold here it is worrying. We are finding it difficult & we are not ancient or ill - not great if you are.

    Keep warm everyone.

    Morning All,

It's raining & doing a good job of melting the ice & snow. It's foul out there but a relief that it's gone above freezing.

Choille, hope the healing continues well. Slop, slop and more slop, oh and ice cream - maybe not in this weather! The subtle tan sounds interesting. I think when I get a bit tanned the wrinkles show up. I always use a bit of blush, in fact I use a lippy that's a nice bronzy colour on my cheeks. I had a really glamourous French grandmother and I think putting on a bit of slap runs in the family. My old Mum always does, although it can be a bit hit or miss these days. I pencil in her eyebrows each week and she's always saying 'do it darker' so it can last the week!

Bronnie - well done with the exercises. I like to walk each day & y'day ventured out into a huge field full of virgin snow. Quite beautiful. Soooo many animal tracks. It was quite aerobic trudging about and I felt like some kind of pioneer. ;)

Hi spirit, dogcat and katie - nice to get your news. :D

The blurry flushes are back. Have NO idea if it's because I've stopped soy supps. they were too expensive anyway. I lay in bed last night with back pain, flushes, itching skin and thought sod it, take a bit of sleeping assistance and pain killer and hey presto, this morning feel human - ish.

Big hello to all lurkers :A and specially if things are not going too well. Everything passes, but in the meantime a big HUG from menoland. XXX

Hi All - Raining here too & the water's back on -yipee. Gone much milder but the forecast is for it to freeze again. Very grey & grim but much milder at the moment.

Joyful I use the menopace and get them out of Morrissons for about £3.75 which I think is worth it as I have been so much better since after a few weeks of starting taking them. No more sweats & no more anxiety which was pretty unbearable for me. I still ache as if I've been 10 rounds with a boxer but I haven't been to active with all the ice on the ground.

Hope you are all well & managing to stay warm.
  • Hi all. Very cold here, with some spectacular icicles hanging down from all the drain pipes and roofs. I have managed to get to boots and got some glucosimne to try, apparantly you need to take it for a couple of months before you feel any effect.

Trying to eat healthy, but in this weather a cup of coffee and a mince pie is sooo much more appealing than a glass of water and a salad. I have compromised, and am having a salad sandwich, small mince pie and cup of coffee for lunch!

I have tried dove and johnsons stuff that gives you a very pale tan/bit of colour, but doesnt seem to go on very well. I have very very dry skin, and it just seems to leave a dirty looking tide mark around my face :( shame because I look very "pale and interesting" (washed out) and would love a little bit of natural looking colour. Any suggestions gratefully recieved.

Joyfull, well done on getting out for your lovely walks. I wish I could give myself that push to do that, but I think I've gone soft as I've got older and find it hard to make the push in this weather, even though I know I would feel better for it. hence the exercise classes/gym plan this winter! I am right on the coast and we have a lovely coastal footpath on the doorstep, but the cold and wind are biting at this time of year, so I tend to be a fair weather walker! Wimp, I know!

Katie, how about you do a mini facial, exfoliate, then warm flannels to open the pores and then slap on a thick layer of deep moisturiser or even just some oil of some sort. Lay down on the bed for 15 minutes with some music on and a scented candle lit and think beautiful thoughts while it soaks in! Rinse and wipe off excess then try the facial tanner on cleansed skin. Maybe try very sparing applications more often. The one I use was a Mother's day pressie. It is more like a milk than a lotion and is very economical . I've still only used a quarter of the bottle and was using it all summer as try to avoid too much sun on the face now!

Are you using the glucosamine for joint aches? My knees have been a touch creaky this week, which is the first time I've noticed.

    Hi all,

We've had rain too. The snow has melted and its been very mild here. Went shopping today in town with OH and DD and wished I never. It was sooooo busy. Won't be going on a saturday again before Christmas. When we got home OH cooked stuffed mushrooms...mmmmm.
    :D
Have a good evening and sleep well everyone!
  • Hi all

weather is still very cold, but staying wrapped up and warm.

Thanks for tip about facial bronnie, sounds a good way to relax and also to ensure face isnt too dry before applying tan. I will give it a go.

I am trying glucosime supplements for aches and pains, especially for hip and joint pain. Have only just started so will have to see if it helps

    Hello Menos,

Hope all is well in your little worlds. Not liking this cold weather. Staggered about dropping Avon catalogues off today - lots of ice, felt really tense & unsteady.:( Doing lots atm for Mum as I have Power of Attorney & we've been looking at how to secure her finances to provide for her nursing home fees of £37,000 pa.

Wrote some xmas cards the other day & it triggered my neck/back pain & it's been not good ever since.

Sorry to be a moaning meno. Would like to curl up under the duvet & not come out till the primroses appear.

Take care of your lovely selves :A XXX
