    Hello ladies!

It's cold here but lovely and bright!

Took myself off to a legs bums and tums class this morning as had a week off gym on doc's advice after the bump and last week off because it's too easy to make excuses when you're out of routine. Thought a class would be the best way to get back into the swing and it was! feeling warmed and invigorated now!

This afternoon am heading off over to Liverpool. Am going to the Mac shop to see if I can get myself some free make-up advice!

Went to see some friends on Sat I haven't seen for ages and spent ages applying my make-up using some free sample foundations from Clarins, I was wearing a grey jumper dress and grey is not really a good colour for me anywa. I just looked at the photos from the evening and I don't even look like I'm wearing any make-up. Don't know what went wrong! Definitely need some expert advice about foundation colour as my skin is at it's natural palest now the summer tan has faded.

Then will go away and "think about it"!
  • Hi all, still working my way through this thread. It is nice to know that I am not alone with all my menopusaul symptoms. I have also picked up some very good tips and hints, which I might try. Not sleeping well at the moment, even though I am really tired, I cant seem to get confortable in bed. It doesnt matter how I lie, something seems to ache!:(

It is very cold today, so I will finish reading posts (hopefully) and make a "to do list".

Welcome katie - I do lists but end up losing them!
Hi Vali - Ears. I have low level tinitus [sp?] But I seemed to get a lot of gurgling & whoosing going on a while back & the Doc suggested that I had rather a lot of wax in my ears & water had got behind that. She suggested getting the eardrops with bicarb of soda in them. And warned me you get fizzing in your ears. I did & it was a bit weird but it cleared it up pronto. Maybe you should go & have the Dr look at them. I was scared they'd syringe them as I'd heard tales about that, but no.

Bronnie - I wish there was an excercise class near me. I never had a thick waist before in my life & really am pretty active but I need to try & shift this extra weight. Know what you mean about the paleness of Winter. I've started using Dove self tanning moisture cream on my face twice a week just to stop me looking like a reflective white road sign. I also use a brush of pinkish rouge - cheap stuff.

We went today to get animal feed & it was bit of a nightmare journey & a bit daft both of us going coz it was looking like we wouldn't be able to get back at one point. Gosh it is really freezing hard out there tonight.

Went in a shop on the way home & I was that cold & a bit slow feeling I couldn't get the right change out of my purse - I felt really old, not helped by the young, male assistant drumming his fingers on the counter. I meant to get some mints but I was that flustered I didn't. Now that makes me sound ancient. I felt like crying but I was also pretty annoyed after I got back in the car.

    Keep cosy & safe.

    Hope everyone is cozy tonight.
    Take care.

    Hi there Peeps,

How are you all? Battling cold and snowy weather mostly probably. Here in Kent it's been snowing all day and I'd imagine the next few days will be treacherous because it's going to get really cold and freeze day and night.

I've just indulged my self with watching 'housewife 49' on ITV player thing. I've seen it before but it's great. Full of women of our age who find an inner strength and spirit. Whilst watching I had microwave chips with pickle and hummus followed by banana custard. Oh yum! :j

Bronnie, how did the makeup advice go? It so easy to just wear the same stuff without taking a fresh look at how we really look. note to self. Must take a fresh look.;)

Choille - impatient young people, grrrr. They'll get older one day. How is your mouth? Were you going to have a bit more work done? It must be sooo cold for you.

Katie - it's horrid to be all achey in bed. Must admit to 'treating' myself to painkillers some nights just to feel normal for a while.

Take very good care on the roads. Last winter I hit black ice on a rural road and ended up in a ditch. The most awful feeling as the car slides totally out of control. Fortunately I was doing only about 15mph. the best part was that about 4 men from the village appeared from nowhere, got a 4x4 and towed me out. Absolutely heartwarming.:)

    Stay snug and safe.

Banana custard - wonderful - I've been living on LIDL swiss rolls & yoghurt & scrambled eggs. My mouth is pretty sore & I have to go 'dental' again on Thursday - get most of my remaining bottom teeth out & a partial denture - but as I'm just eating slop with this top denture I don't know how I'm gonna manage. But that's probably me giving too much info - I think I need it adjusting - the top set.
I'll get there but I am eating rubbish - I couldn't even chew a mushroom earlier.

Quite cold here but not as cold as yesterday. Just pottering about doing the basics. Pain with the water frozen as it's humfing buckets out of the burn & it's pretty slippy but at least it's dry.

Nice being in & warm beside the stove now.

    Keep warm.

Choille, when I lost my teeth and also bashed my lip badly & couldn't eat, I got hold of complan - a meal type substitute drink. At least I knew I was getting some nutrients down. It's available in chemists & supermarkets. You will find a way to manage, bit of trial and error. All the best for Thursday.

Hi Joyful - I am actually getting better but something is rubbing me raw at the moment. I think I need an adjustment doing.
The other week after being at the dentalist my upper lip looked as if I had a trout pout. We went for coffee before heading home & the owner knew I'd been at the dentist.
I'm not fit to eat in public.
Joyful it must of been an awful shock for you out of the blue - falling & having to go & get it done. I have sort of been having staged work since earlier on this year.
Well might try making some stovies as that'll be nice & soft & I might be able to chisel some carrots out of the ground.
Thanks for the complan tip - I'll get some on Thurs when over at the dentalists.

    Cheers.

Aw choille :grouphug: - it sounds like you're going through the mill a bit hun. I hope Thursday goes as well as it can.

I've noticed in the last 6 months that my skin, especially on my legs and face, is sooooo dry - anyone else found this?

Also, I'm so ruddy stiff......getting socks on is quite a battle....I try to bend, and my body goes: "hahahahaha, you're having a laugh, aren't you"

It just wont do it. It's not even that it particularly hurts, it's like physically hitting a brick wall, my body just refuses or rather can't go lower.

I was hiking quite demanding (or at least, certainly not flat) 7+ miles on a regular basis at the weekends up until 16 months ago, when my daughter became too ill to leave. Although to be fair, I was stiff even then, but it's got a lot worse the last 6 months.

I walk 1½miles most days, which isn't far, I know, but I don't sit on my backside all day doing nothing, I'm very active, just very stiff with it :(

Does anyone take cod liver oil? I did, for almost a year, but I never noticed any benefit from it.

I live in Dorset (no snow in my part) and went for a walk today cos I was so cold indoors, and it semi sleeted all the way there and back.....what you might call "bracing!" - but I felt all the better for it, although a bit on the dizzy side since I got back. Am guessing my inner ear got too cold, which is upsetting my balance. Am fine as long as I don't move too suddenly. Hopefully it will have sorted itself by morning.

Hope everyone is safe and warm.

Hi Hippie - I just want it all out of the way now, bring it on so I can start to heal.

Stiff - I am all achy & I too am not idle, but my knees are killing me. I too use fish oil & take glucosimine but whether it's making any difference I don't know. Someone mentioned getting the glucosimine with Chronidin - I don't think that's how it's spelt, but haven't managed that yet.
I am supposed to be seeing a physio because of a bad hip/back thing but haven't heard when yet.
My skin is drier & I am using body lotion. I have a patch of really rashy, itchy skin - I think that the meno does make things like dry skin worse.

Sounds like I need putting down, but apart from that I'm fine!

It's cold here but really cosy sitting next to the stove with my two cats cuddled in.

Hope your ear settles down - that sounds uncomfy.
    All the best.

    Hi all,

No snow here....yet...though its bl00dy cold!

I've been feeling great for a while now...no flushes or dizziness or sleeplessness...ooh that was a long word. Was lovely to see my daughter ...spent some real 'quality' time together.
    Keep warm everyone!
